Drum Point Road Elementary SchoolWhere we Share, Care and Dare to Play Fair!

Mrs. Farrell’s Kindergartener’s Love to Read on Pajama Day!

Clifford visits Drum Point! Students were asked trivia questions in the cafeteria and received books as prizes!

A special thank you to the fabulous Drum Point PTA for their hard work and volunteerism in making the Book Fair a wonderful event for our students!

The Drum Point PTA organized a fundraiser called “All for Books” which helps our community purchase books for children in need in our school and for our school library. All for Books also helps readers beyond our school and community, Scholastic Books will match the money we raise in our coin challenge and donate up to one million books to Kids in Need Foundation & Kids in Distressed Situations Inc. Our goal is to raise $150, which we exceeded! As a special treat students had crazy hat day, on February 4, 2015.

Crazy Hat Day!

Marie in Miss Goubeaud’s class brought in her “Flat Little Dragon” sent back from Florida. What an adventure!

What is a “Flat Little Dragon” you may ask? Well, all students at Drum Point have been introduced to the wonderful and funny book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. The book is about a young boy named Stanley who is accidentally squished "as flat as a pancake" when a bulletin board falls on him. Stanley is very, very flat but otherwise fine. The story goes on to tell about Stanley’s advantages. For example, he can slide under doors, go down into sidewalk grates, and even fold himself up small enough to fit into an envelope and be mailed to California for an exciting vacation. Drum Point loves this story and has created a program in its honor called “Flat Little Dragon.” Students were invited to personalize a paper dragon to visit a "host family" of their choosing. Then the host family keeps him for a short visit and sends him back telling Drum Point something about their city and the exciting things Flat Little Dragon saw or did while he was there.
