General Information

Assembly - Wednesday afternoons at 2:40pm in Weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8. Presentation Day will be in Week 9 on Thursday 7th December. Everyone is welcome.

Home reading is every night – It’s not too late to complete 100 nights of reading! Please complete the home reading log and return to your child’s teacher.

Children will receive a book when they reach 100 nights of reading.

Homework - is given out Monday and is due back the following Monday. Homework should not be difficult and tedious in Year 1, instead it is simple revision

to encourage good homework routines.

We are a Sun Smart School. Please ensure your child has a school hat to bring to school each day.

We participate in the Crunch and Sip program to help children stay healthy and happy. This is an extra break in the classroom to eat fruit or vegetables and

drink water to assist with physical and mental performance and concentration.

Absences - All absences require a note from a parent/caregiver. Notes are always addressed to the class teacher. Please hand in absent notes on the day

your child returns to school. This is best done if you place it in your child’s folder and remind them to give it to me in the morning when we unpack our bags.

Little tasks like this really make a huge difference in fostering responsibility and independence. If you are planning a holiday during school time and your child

will be absent for a week or more, please advise the office and complete a special leave form.

Late or Early Leavers - If you arrive after the morning bell and the class has already gone inside, you will need to go to the office first and get a late note. If

you need to pick your child up early, go to the office first and get an early leavers note and then go to the classroom and pick up your child.

Goals – Children have been working hard on achieving their Semester 2 goal, if you have any queries about what they can do before the end of the year,

please see your child’s teacher.

Volunteering - If you have some spare time, teachers would appreciate help in the classroom. Please talk to the class teacher if you are interested.

Thank you for your participation and co-operation.

Kind Regards,

Year 1 Teachers: Joel Burman, Caroline Collins and Nik Armstrong
