LITERATURE WRITING Syllabus - 2012 Teacher: Victoria Gregov Year: 2ºYear E.S.B General Aims: Students should be able to: Develop an interpretation of the different texts. Develop their writing skills that allow them to express ideas, feelings, opinions and statements in a fairly adequate standard of production Widen their vocabulary Establish connections between the different kinds of texts. Encourage them to obtain results that reflect their effort to research, use dictionaries to improve their expressive skills and to plan in advance before writing a paper Learn from their own mistakes and improve their writing Come up with hypothesis about the things they are learning. Develop a sense of responsibility for their work. Diagnostic period: Paragraph: Writing a description of a person Revision of adjectives, verbs and linkers. Paragraphs: theory and explanation. Topic sentences, developing sentences, closing sentence. Writing a description of a place. Diagnostic exam. Unit 1 Diary entry: Diary entry: theory and explanation. Examples. Adjectives ending in “-ed” and “-ing”. Adjectives about feelings: classification in positive and negative. Discussion questions: style in a diary entry, narrator, tenses, chronological order. Revision of tenses: simple past. Final task: writing a diary entry.

Unit 3Soliloquy:

Soliloquy: definition, explanation, purposes. Illustrative video about soliloquy: “To Be or Not To Be”, Hamlet,

Shakespeare. Writing an example of a soliloquy based on a personal event /

experience. Vocabulary: feeling and emotions, places – experiences – trips,

sequencing words. Final task: writing a soliloquy.

Unit 4Literary essay:

Literary essay: definition, explanation. Example of a literary essay: key elements. Literary essay organizer. Writing a literary essay

Assessment Criteria:

In order to get a pass, students must comply with the following: Attendance: 80% Assignments: 100% Participation: 100% Formal tests (mini tests, quarterlies, etc.): above 7 in all the

tests
