Ford Laser may you Rest in Peace, you deserve it.

This car was donated to the club specifically for the use of junior driver education. With a donation of steel for the cage from Vernon’s Steelyards it was welded in by Students at Swan Hill Collage. We ‘acquired’ the racing harnesses and also installed a donated extinguisher. Through its club life it has had carby issues and a brake booster unit that was broken/cracked. These items were replaced by a Melbourne June weekend competitor who had been coming up here for a number of years. This person also gave us two rally tyres to fit. It has tested the cage before as well required a couple of panels and a windscreen but this time is her last, It has been worked on by a lot of different club members and we are saddened that she has passed.

This is how we remember this car that has had many learner drivers use it on their way to being fully fledged members of our club. It has had parts donated by other clubs and individuals.

April Race Report (Chris Gibson)

Where to start this one, Track has had edges battered out and what a difference it has made to the look and safety of the track, safety car did not have to pull or tow anybody now that was great.

It did how ever get one call out to me. Barry Middleton was having a problem with his new Lancer which he had just fitted a cage sets belts and led light bar the week before. I took it out to see what the go was and it cut out, electrical problem, can you believe it and it appears to be the cam sensor. But gee it had to happen to Barry. Oh and the safety car was not needed. It did restart and limp back to the pits and we did find the problem.

We had some visitors from Shepparton and district car club (check them out on face book great club lots to see there) and they loved it and had a great time, doing quite well to I might add second and third overall and first in class C, P and J good day see more results below.

Adam Smith decided that he should just come out and own the name with a Huge Mr Dust sticker on his ute and he did do very well in it even putting on a good show in the second last corner lane 2 he came in on the rev limiter lost it did a 360 still on the limiter and came out the

dust to regain his lap and he never took his foot off I heard it all you could not see much other than the cloud Lyn Andrew was photographing him at the time and caught it all.

Darby Anderson has now run his Lancer and was very pleased with Top Man Class D with tidy runs all day.

Tyson Buckley looked great in his new baby and was running very well all day we some great constancy.

Kevlin Jobling got a lot of laps in with some good results and some good times even cracked the 1.20 barrier well done Kelvin and Rob I see from your facebook posts you are after that as well next time out 4 sec’s to go you can do it.

Aaron and Michael came out with new car and did some good laps and not bad new car new to the track well done hope to see you in June.

Rodney Stephenson really looked great with a large yellow paint addition to his Mazda and it really stands out, he also had a good day not to mention he is the track manager and was reasonable for the edges being taken out of the track Thanks Rodney.

Kelsey Trotter had her first go as driver and over the day managed to take almost 40 seconds of her time during the day in a nice display of just easing herself into it with very respectable result well Done Kelsey.

There were lots more stories but these are what I could remember

It is great to so many new faces coming out and having a crack and enjoying it.

Now we from what I understand of the Cams reg we can display general info on day just not times so below is how you faired to see how your car and yourself are traveling.

Trick and Tips

Want to know the best performance upgrade you can do to a standard car for around $100.

It is you change your seat belts to a race harness (and a race seat if you can get one).

You will then find that you are not swing on the steering wheel you are held in the seat and have much better car control.

Rallycross Relaunch (Chris Gibson)

Barry Middleton and I went down to Broadford for the relaunch of Rallycross on the 21st of May. There where many people from Cams and Rallycross Australia. Win News took lots of footage some you will have seen on our Facebook page. The official launch Bob Watson and Cams CEO Eugene Arocca spoke on the future of rallycross and the hope that it would become a strong hold for grass root motor sport as well as place for serious competitor. Maybe even the Global championship one day with cams adding the fine print and regulation to the sport, Swan Hill was also mentioned along with Orange and Coffs Harbor in the hope of more tracks as this would be great to get a Australian championship up and

going .

Then it was time to take a look at the track and while the track is not finished they did take people around in 4 wheel drives so you see what it would be like and it was impressive some 1.8 ks long almost ½ bitumen and some large elevation changers it looked intimidating from the 4 x 4.

There is also a Motard component as well with the motorbikes on a little shorter track and some stepper parts for them. Sorry I have no idea on

the spec for this but it looked impressive.

Now speaking of looking impressive, that was because we got to have a lap or 4 around the track. Drivers briefing do not overdo it there are no barriers in place yet, do not run off the track it is not a race, but put on a go show be safe.

Barry went for a look around to see what the Spector’s where going to see and found a hillside area where he could see most of the track he did take some photos.

I did take my Black lancer along and did get to take it out, Win news strapped there gopro on the roof and away we went 2 a time just slightly spaced first lap ok take it easy and see what happens up the front straight bitumen this is nice easy run around the corner off the road straight down bottom out at the bottom of a few meter decent straight up lot of wheel spin over the top small straight no traction sideways long this with slight direction changers left then right this 60 odd kmh, crossover the bitumen back onto the dirt slight angle on the dirt track then a jump down and tuning at the same time over the top big drop down turn on the way down bottom out then a step short climb up on the bitumen around a bend short straight then back onto the dirt short straight then back onto the bitumen on a bend small squirt left hander uphill grade left hander and onto the start finish straight and did the thing want to go down that 4 gear on boost you get the picture anyway did 4 laps around the track you could really see that this is going to be a very good track and that Rallycross is going to be something that a lot of us are going to want to have a go at and we can Cams regs version 1 or out have a read I can only recommend you have a crack I am going to. Licence Structure and Pathway

The Licensing and Accreditation Guide is a reference guide for new and current CAMS Accredited Officials containing information on the National Officiating Program; licence

application, upgrade and maintenance; training and development; policies and procedures. Click the link below to download:

Licensing and Accreditation Guide 2013-2014 (pdf)

The CAMS Accredited Official licensing structure has two parts: Graded Officials Licences and Non Graded Officials Licences.

Graded Officials Licences have six grading levels and are available to all CAMS Accredited Officials to achieve. Non Graded Officials Licenses

have two types: Specialist Licence holders are those that hold professional qualifications and are registered medical service providers. Appointed Licence holders are those that have been appointed by the management of CAMS.

The diagram below shows the licence pathway and the available disciplines in which to specialise at Bronze level. Each of the disciplines in blue have an associated training module, as does General Official (Introductory Module), Club Chief and Silver level. For more information on training modules, visit Training.

An official may hold different levels for different disciplines of officiating at any one time (e.g. they could be a Gold Steward and also a Bronze Rally Official). The graded levels are defined as follows:

Trainee

For those with no current motor sport officiating experience who are capable of working under direct supervision at all events.

General Official

For those with motor sport officiating experience who are capable of working under indirect supervision at all events.

Club Chief (Club Level Specific)

For those with motor sport officiating experience working without supervision, capable of performing the role of Clerk of the Course/Event Director, assuming a team-leader role (except Chief Scrutineer) or Chief Steward role at Club/Multi-Club events (excluding race, rally and off road events).

Bronze

For those officials qualified to officiate without supervision, capable of performing the role of team-leader (may take responsibility for other officials), officiating as Chief up to and including State level events and act as General Official at any level event.

Silver

For those officials with motor sport officiating experience qualified to work without supervision, capable of assuming a team-leader role (and taking responsibility for other officials), officiating as Chief up to and including National level events, and act as a General Official at any level event.

RemindersRace Day Clothing.

Drivers need to be aware that there are minimum standards for clothing on race day and that clothing standards are part of the scrutineering process. That means that if you are not dressed in your race gear when the car is being scrutineered, then you will have to produce what you are wearing. Below is a summary of what can and cannot be worn when racing. If these standards are not met then you will not pass scrutineering and will not be able to race.

Helmet Must meet Australian standards. In good condition. No cracks, dents or deep scratches and it cannot be painted. The lining must be in good condition. Fasteners need to be in good condition.

Clothing Drivers and passengers must be dressed in clothing that covers them from neck to ankle to wrists. The clothing can not be nylon. For example, long sleeved Visy tops cannot be worn.

Footwear Footwear can be either shoes or boots. Both need to have a leather upper but can have elastic sides. For example, pull on work boots are ok but nylon sneakers are not. Leather upper sneakers/runners are ok.

Please follow the link for more in-depth explanation. CLICK HERE

Club Apparel.

Polo Tops, Sweats and Hoodies are now available to order from Blue Sky in Swan Hill with club logo. Please allow adequate amount of time for them to take enough orders to do a run. Prices for the clothing will depend on the size. Logos are available for embroidery on the back (large) and on the front.
