You sign in 1 line per 15 minutes of reading. What We Are Learning This Week Reading: We are going to read stories that pertain to Friendship. We will go over their summer reading stories (My Friend, Jessica, Widget). We will start Guided Reading Next week and look at stories related to the Seasons (Fall Leaves, Changing Seasons, In the Summer) Phonics Focus: We started practicing word sorts. The Developmental Spelling Assessment will be given and then groups will be established. The students have been working on the correct way to sort their words both in class and at home. FUNDATIONS will begin. First a review and then we will move right into the first Phonics rule! Writing: We started writing in our journals and on writing paper. The students are focusing on sound spelling (writing what they hear), capitals and periods, and using the lines correctly. Upcoming Events & Announcements September: 17 th : Picture Day 23: Ice Cream Social 25 th : No School: Rosh Hashanah 100 Book Challenge Target: Students should be on or around line 13 by Friday, September 12. Story Snack: I will put a calendar on my website. Once I do, I will send and SMS alert. What We Are LearningThis Week

Social Studies: We will start Chapter 1 this week. It focuses on How We Get Along In School: by sharing things, listening, taking turns and talking and to our peers.

Science: We will start our first unit this week on WEATHER. We will use our senses to observe the weather.
