Information about each literacy station

Station 1 (On the mat at the front):

Guided reading with the teacher All resources for Guided Reading can be found inside the white plastic box on top of the student drawers on the left side of the room (with the carpet wall). All books for Guided reading can be found in the reading room of the school. Please select book at least 3 levels above the highest reader in the particular group. Once books have being selected they can go back in the basket ready for Guided Reading rotations. Please return all books to the reading room once they have being finished with.

Station 2 (Green tables on the side close to the door):

Magic Word Station

Students to work on different activities to help them learn to spell up to green words. If children have finished reading all magic words and are up to spelling then they will practise spelling the magic words that they are up to.

By the end of Semester 1 students should know how to spell all magic words up to green. This is the benchmark for Year 1, Semester 1.

Station 3 (Long red tables to the back of the room).

An activity on the Grammar of the week.

Station 4 (Long yellow tables on the side):

Reading eggs on IPADS and computers.IPADS can be found behind my table, behind the orange cupboard in the top left draw. The key to open it is in my first drawer and it has masking tape and a black scribble on it. Children independently find their logon information as it is hanging up at the back of the class. When

children get onto reading eggs they are to work on their reading egg levels and not on games.

To help move students along a Guided Reading slideshow is used. This can be found if you go into teacher public teachers programs 2017 Term 2 2017 Elisabetta Gagliardo Term 2 2017 2.English and click on the PowerPoint named ‘Guided Reading Slideshow.’ One rotation last 15 minutes.

Students automatically know where to move during rotations. They also use the slide to refer to. If they are not sure where to go they look at the slide and see what rotation their name is under.

These are the reading strategies which will be explicitly taught to the children this term:
