I KNOW MY SAVIOR LIVES

Seco Canyon Primary ProgramNovember 3, 2015

Pianist quietly plays I Know That My Savior Loves Me while children come up to the stand and find their seats.

Primary President This year our Primary theme is five simple words: “I know my Savior lives.” We have been learning about the Savior’s life, His plan of salvation, His obedience, sacrifice and example. The more we know and understand the Savior, the better we can understand how He loves us. Spending a lifetime working to come closer to the Savior may help us be able to say, like Job “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.” Job 19:25

I know my Savior lives. Five simple words, but with the power to change everything.

There may be no better place than Primary to see and experience the pure love of the Savior. Listen now as the children share their testimony of Him through words and song.

Song I Know That My Savior Loves MeSunbeams (It’s a great idea to put the Sunbeams and CTR 4’s at the

beginning while they are still fresh and paying attention. By the end of the program, you may not get their best efforts.)

Kate My name is Kate. I know that my Savior loves me because he gave me my family!

Zach My name is Zach. I know that my Savior loves me because he gave us beautiful flowers.

Brandon My name is Brandon. I know that my Savior loves me because he gave us the rain.

Annie My name is Annie. I know that my Savior loves me because he gave us our pets—I love my dog Sasha.

Brighton My name is Brighton. I know that my Savior loves me because I feel good when I pray.

Talk This would be a good place for a talk by an older child on

the them I Know That My Savior Loves Me.Song He Sent His Son (This song lends itself well to a duet or

small group performance: one child or small group can sing the questions and another child or an adult (perhaps a teacher?) can sing the answers)

He Sent His Son is a song about our Savior’s life. We can come to know that our Savior loves us by learning more about Him. The more we know about His life and His example, the more we can understand how much He loves us. As the song says, we can learn to “Live like His son.”

Cindy My name is Cindy. I can live like his Son by being kind to my family.

Mary My name is Mary. I can live like Jesus by helping a friend who feels hurt.

Matthew My name is Matthew. I can live like Jesus by giving hugs.Yo-Jin My name is Yo-Jin. I can live like Jesus by showing faith.Fergie My name is Fergie. I can live like Jesus by praying every

baptized.Talk This would be a good place for a talk from an older student.

Topic could be following Jesus’ example or I Know That My Savior Loves Me.

Song The Church of Jesus Christ (sung by the CTR 8 class)You could have this class stand together by the podium and sing the song together. Have them remain together and line up behind the podium to share their baptism memories.Teacher We know the Savior loves us because He wants us all to

be baptized as members of His Church! Everyone in our class turned 8 this year! This year, the CTR 8 class turned 8 and was baptized, following Jesus Christ’s example. We know our Savior loves us because He lived his life for us, including being baptized by John the Baptist. My class is going to share about becoming members of the Church of Jesus Christ.

Melissa My name is Melissa Baker. I was baptized in May. I am grateful I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ. I loved getting baptized and wearing my new white dress. The white reminds me of how clean we are after we are baptized in the water.

Riley My name is Riley Jones. I was baptized this year in February. My favorite part about my baptism was when I was given a blessing to receive the Holy Ghost. I felt

happy. I felt like I was doing what God wants me to do.Max My name is Max Devonshire. I was baptized in March. I

liked sharing my baptism day with Gracen Davis. When I went under the water, it was a little cold. When I came up out of the water I could see my brothers and my cousins. I was following Jesus’ example and maybe they would follow my example to be baptized too.

Monique My name is Monique Tolley. I got baptized in July. Before I got baptized I was lucky to visit the Payson temple. I got to see the beautiful rooms and feel the special spirit there. My mom and I talked about the covenants in the temple and the covenants I would be making at baptism. I’m happy to start on the covenant path as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ.

Lucy My name is Lucy Brown. I was baptized in April. I prepared for baptism by reading scriptures, praying, and talking about what baptism will be like with my family. I also had a meeting with the bishop to talk about the covenants I would be making. When it was time for my baptism, I felt ready.

Gracen My name is Gracen Davis. I got baptized in July. Just like the other kids, after my baptism I was given a special blessing for the gift of the Holy Ghost. I have felt the Holy Ghost before—when we sing special songs in Primary I feel the Holy Ghost. Sometimes when I am together with my family I feel it too. I am glad that now I have the Holy Ghost to be with me all the time.

Talk This is a good place for a talk from an older child. The topic could be Jesus Christ’s baptism, I Know That My Savior Loves Me, or a mash up: I Know that my Savior loves me because He was baptized.

Song The Holy GhostTeacher After baptism we are confirmed with the gift of the Holy

Ghost. We know that the Savior loves us because he gave us a comforter to help us all the time. The scriptures tell us that the Comforter “shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John 14:26) The children in my class have memorized the words to the song about the Holy Ghost. Listen again to the words that can teach us important truths.

(This is an example of speaking the words from a song for emphasis. You could easily split this into two lines per child or “say” a different song. I also like having the

When Christ was on the earth,He promised he would sendThe Holy Ghost to comfort us,Our true eternal friend.

children memorize “poetry” for the program.)PhilipJose The Holy Spirit whispers

With a still small voice. He testifies of God and ChristAnd makes our heart rejoice.

Lauren And when we are confirmedBy sacred priesthood pow'r,The Holy Ghost is giv'n to usTo guide us ev'ry hour.

Ben Oh, may I always listenTo that still small voice. And with his light I'll do what's rightEach time I make a choice.

Talk This would be a good place for a talk from an older student. Topic could be the Holy Ghost or I Know That My Savior Loves Me.

Song Follow the Prophet, CS 110(Our ward has assigned each class one verse of Follow the Prophet and then we’ll join together to sing the chorus.)

Teacher We know our Savior loves us because He gave us prophets to help guide us. We sing about prophets in the scripture: Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Samuel, Jonah, and Daniel. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are blessed with prophets today who testify of Jesus Christ and teach His gospel, just like the prophets of old. My class is going to share their favorite teachings from modern day prophets.

Jordan My name is Jordan Davis. I like to listen to Elder Holland. I loved his story about brothers rock climbing and the miracle of Easter.

Reagan My name is Reagan Brown. I liked to listen to Sister Wixom’s talk. She talked about the importance of asking questions and waiting for answers.

Sally My name is Sally Struthers. President Uchtdorf gave a talk about grace at Spring General Conference. He reminded us “…we obey the commandments of God—out of love for Him!”

Jane My name is Jane Tarazan. I know my Savior loves me because he has given us prophets to guide us. I love to listen to the words of President Monson. He talked about the blessings of the temple.

Derek My name is Derek Gardner. At conference this year, I listened carefully during Elder Nelson’s talk. He reminded us that the Sabbath is a delight! My family is working on keeping the Sabbath day holy.

James My name is James Gonzalez. I liked Elder Bednar’s talk. He talked about being brave and told a story from the Book of Mormon about an important battle.

Jackson My name is Jackson Walters. President Uchtdorf talked about service in the January issue of the Friend magazine. He said that “we are His hands.” The prophets are teaching me how serving others is the same as serving God.

Naomi My name is Naomi Watts. I liked Elder Cook’s message in conference that taught us about sunflowers! He taught that we can bloom and grow when we love the Savior and follow his teachings.

Talk This would be a good place for a talk from an older student. Topic could be about Prophets (ancient or modern) or I Know That My Savior Loves Me.

Song Scripture PowerTeacher(This is a great way to encourage some of the children to memorize a favorite scripture!)

We know that the Savior Loves us because he gave us the scriptures. Scriptures can keep us safe from sin and give us the power to win! The children in my class are going to share their favorite scripture.

Andrea

You may want to type out the words for scripture references (Mark, chapter 1 verse 12) so the kids don’t get slowed down by figuring out how to say it correctly.

My name is Andrea Monson. My favorite scripture is James chapter 1 verse 5: If any of you lack wisdom , let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Lilah My name is Lilah Grace. I like Matthew chapter 5 verse 16: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Liam My name is Liam Plummer. I like the verse in first Timothy chapter 4 verse 12:  Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Frances My name is Frances Bean. I love this scripture about missionary work because my sister is on a mission right now! It is found in Matthew chapter 28 verse 19: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Emma My name is Emma Greene. I am learning more about the Holy Ghost. I especially like Moroni, chapter 10, verses 5 and 6:  And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is.

Joshua My name is Joshua Lucas. My favorite scripture is in Doctrine and Covenants, section one hundred and twenty eight, verse 22: Brethren, shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren, and on, on to the victory!

Talk This would be a good place for a talk from an older student. Topic could be about the scriptures or I Know That My Savior Loves Me.

Song Come, Follow MeTeacher Following in the steps of Jesus doesn’t mean we have to

visit Jerusalem! We can follow him by learning about His life and following His example. This year our Senior Primary has been studying the New Testament, just like the seminary students and our Gospel Doctrine classes. My class, the Valiant 10’s, are going to share what they have learned about Jesus this year in class.

Zach My name is Zach Hunter. In class this year we studied the parables of Jesus. I especially like the parable of the Good Samaratin. Jesus helped others and I can too.

Lola My name is Lola Hernandez. When Jesus walked on water and calmed the seas, it reminds me how powerful He is. I like to read that story in the scriptures and think about how Jesus has the power to help all of us.

Charley My name is Charley Davis. The scriptures tell us about Jesus raising the daughter of Jairus from the dead. It reminds me that Jesus can do miracles in my life too.

Tyler My name is Tyler Evans. One of my favorite stories about Jesus is when he came to Jerusalem during Passover and the whole town greeted him with palm leaves. My grandma and my cousins waved palm fronds at Easter to see what this might have been like! It reminded me that Jesus was not just a man, but the Son of God and a King. (John 12:12-15)

Maisie My name is Maisie Gracy. I love to read the scriptures about when Mary found the tomb empty in the garden. Then she turns around and Jesus is right there! He had been resurrected. I know Jesus is always there for me when I need Him.

Chloe My names is Chloe Chu. I like to read about Jesus’ atonement in Gethsemane. His prayers and sacrifice for us in the garden show just how much He loves us. Understanding how much Jesus loves us can help me show love for Him by keeping the commandments.Pianist plays I Know That My Savior Loves Me quietly as the following four children come to the podium. The rest of

the Primary stands, ready to sing. Pianist continues playing during this little speaking chorus…

Callie I know He lives.Joshua I will follow faithfully.Lola My heart I give to Him.James I know that my Savior loves me.Song I Know That My Savior Loves Me, Chorus Only, 2x.

Your pianist will need to include intro and bridge music to make this possible: most pianists can pull this off!

Closing Remarks Bishop

You’ll notice that I included the children saying their names. It’s a nice way to introduce the children to the rest of the ward who is not in Primary! Full names are best, but for the youngest two classes (or so) first name only is okay, I think.
