Lotus Notes 9.0.1 Installation for Mac OS 10.10.xUpdated By: Hleium Tsui Date: July 15, 2015
Remark: This document is used for reference only, please inform [email protected] if any problem is found.
1. Test your Lotus Notes email account and password from webmail.notes.yorku.ca
2. For Office Windows computer, go step 4 below. For Mac OS X in York Network, Start the Finder, click on Go, Connect to Serve, enter cifs://omega.library.yorku.ca/MacShare and click connect
3. Click on Utils, Notes, Lotus Notes 9 (UIT Not Support), Mac, copy two files and paste to the Mac Desktop. Go Step 5.

4. For Office Windows computer, copy two files from H:\Utils\Notes\Lotus Notes 9 (UIT Not Support)\Mac, or \\omega.library.yorku.ca\home\Utils\Notes\Lotus Notes 9 (UIT Not Support)\Mac, to USB drive; then copy to Mac OS X desktop.
5. Double click on Notes901_MAC_Slipstream_English.dmg to start the installation of Lotus Notes 9.

14. Enter password for Mac user account with Admin role, click Install Software

16. Click Close

17. Go to Applications, drags “IBM Notes” icon to docking task bar; then click the icon to start Lotus Notes
18. Click Next

19. Enter "Your Lotus Notes Name", the Lotus Notes home email server reference to your last name, click on Next
If the first letter of last name begins with A – D then enterbutterfly.notes.yorku.ca
If the first letter of last name begins with E – K then enter dolphin.notes.yorku.ca
If the first letter of last name begins with L – Q then enterslate.notes.yorku.ca
If the first letter of last name begins with R – Z then enter swan.notes.yorku.ca
20. Enter password and click Log In

21. Click Next and OK to complete installation
22. Close Discover screen

23. Click Open, select Contacts
24. Close About Contacts - Design
25. Click Advanced
26. Click Connections, select New, Server Connection

27. Check the box TCPIP, enter appropriate Server Name. Make sure the names start with a capital letter here.
If the first letter of last name begins with A – D then enterButterfly/Mail/Servers/YorkU
If the first letter of last name begins with E – K then enter Dolphin/Mail/Servers/YorkU
If the first letter of last name begins with L – Q then enterSlate/Mail/Servers/YorkU
If the first letter of last name begins with R – Z then enter Swan/Mail/Servers/YorkU
28. Click Advanced, enter the appropriate Destination Server address then click on Save & Close. If the first letter of last name begins with A – D then enter
butterfly.notes.yorku.ca If the first letter of last name begins with E – K then enter
dolphin.notes.yorku.caIf the first letter of last name begins with L – Q then enter
slate.notes.yorku.caIf the first letter of last name begins with R – Z then enter
swan.notes.yorku.ca

29. Repeat steps 22 to 24 until all the Lotus Notes server connections (including Cashel listed below) are configured
Cashel/Mail/Servers/YorkUcashel.notes.yorku.ca
30. Click Accounts, select New, Account
31. Click on Basics, enter York Atlas information listed as belowYork Atlasyorkatlas.yorku.ca

32. Click Protocol Configuration enter information listed as belowou=york atlas, o=york university, c=ca
33. Click Advanced, make sure Port number is 389 and click Save & Close
34. Click Open, select Mail

35. Close About – Design screen
36. Click IBM Notes, select Preferences
37. Click on Basic Notes Client Configuration, check the Disable type-ahead for all name fields and use the Notes Basic type-ahead, Mark documents read when opened in preview pane

38. Click Locations, select Online, click Edit
39. Click Basics and check the information whether is appropriate
40. Click Server and check the information whether is appropriate

41. Click Mail and check the information whether is appropriate
42. Click on Replication and check the information whether is appropriate, then click OK

43. Select Offline, click Delete, Yes, select Home, Delete then OK
44. Copy the file “Lotus Notes YUL Address Book Update.command” form /Volumes/MacShare/Utils/Notes/Lotus Notes 9 (UIT Not Support)/Mac to Desktop
45. From Finder, click on Go, Utilities to open Terminal

46. From the Terminal, type “chmod +x ~/Desktop/"Lotus Notes YUL Address Book Update.command", then hit Return (Enter).
47. Click on Terminal, Preference…, Profiles, Basic, Shell, change When the shell exists: to Close if the shell exited cleanly; and then Quit Terminal.
48. Double click on the icon”Lotus Notes YUL Address Book Update.command”.
49. Go back to Lotus Notes, click on IBM Noes, Preferences…., Click Mail, select Sending and Receiving

50. Enter YUL.nsf in Local address books field with a comma “,”to separate with names.nsf. Click OK
51. To use YUL Address Book, just click on To: when create message, select YUL Address Book from Directory, find the name, click on To or CC or BCC, then click OK

52. Click on IBM Noes, Preferences…., Click Mail, select Sending and Receiving
53. Assign Access & Delegation if needClick on Calendar and To Do, Access and Delegation, click on Add
54. Click on Just this person or group, select Directory, and find the designated person and click OK.

55. Select the Components and Access rights, then click OK.
56. Move the file Notes901_MAC_Slipstream_English.dmg from desktop to Trash

Remark: Update the YUL.nsf file in futureOffice Mac OS X system
1. Close Lotus Notes
2. Copy the file Lotus Notes YUL Address Book Update.command from cifs://omega.library.yorku.ca/MacShare/Utils/Notes/Lotus Notes 9 (UIT Not Support)/Mac to desktop
3. Open Terminal or Click Spotlight Search (top right corner), type terminal and hit enter
4. cd ~/Desktop and enter
5. type chmod +x "Lotus Notes YUL Address Book Update.command" and hit enter
6. Click on Terminal, Preference…, Profiles, Basic, Shell, change When the shell exists: to Close if the shell exited cleanly; and then Quit Terminal.
7. Close Lotus Notes client
8. Double click on the icon ”Lotus Notes YUL Address Book Update.command" from Desktop, YUL address book should be automatically copied
9. Check with Lotus Notes
For future YUL address book update by user:
1. The Mac must be connected to server omega, check from Finder, server connection, cifs://omega.library.yorku.ca/macshare. This connection must be active.
2. Close Lotus Notes client3. Double click on the icon ”Lotus Notes YUL Address Book Update.command“ from Desktop, YUL
address book should be automatically copied.4. Check with Lotus Notes
