From the Pastor’s Pen:

Dear Friends in Christ, The long Gospel (Mtth: 5, 17-37) with full of direct demands, seems to make Christian life somewhat impossible to live by ordinary people like us, here on earth. The demands seem radical, but the basis of all demands is love. Love can and love should overcome any hurdle to find fulfilment in our lives. Whosoever is enlisted in the way of the Lord, should keep on trying to see the wisdom St. Paul speak of (1 Cor. 2, 6-10) – No eye has seen, no ear has heard, things beyond the mind of man, all that God has prepared for those who love him.Abba Father, grant us the grace to trust you in our life’s journey!Your fellow traveller in life’s journey.Fr Hilarion OSB-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------DIARY Sun 23rd Feb – Cuppa Newry after 11am Mass Tues 25th Feb- PPC Meeting - Maffra 7.30pm Frid 28th Feb – Sun 2nd Mar 4X4 trip to Miller's Hut (Mt. ACTION FOR LIFE WEEKLY/FORTNIGHTLY TREASURES: Over the next couple of weeks, Action for Life will be including information on adoption, which has been researched and provided by Women’s Forum Australia. Did you know...... In 2011-12 there were only 333 adoptions in Australia: 149 of these were overseas adoptions, 129 were “known” adoptions (when the adoption formalises a pre-existing parental relationship) and only 55 were local (Australian born) adoptions. This number has fallen from 1,494 adoptions in 1987, so there has been a 78% drop in the numbers of adoptions in Australia over the past 25 years. Australia has the 2nd lowest adoption rate for developed countries and there are significant numbers of Australian families wishing to adopt. The current waiting list for inter-country adoption can be between 3-5years and costs may be as high as $30,000.

Number of children in out of home care in Australia: 25,000. Number of children aborted nationwide: 100,000 per year.

For more information please visit Women’s Forum Australia’s website: http://www.womensforumaustralia.org/adoption. More details forthcoming.
