We will complete an extended text unit on the book The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats.

Tuesday –TTW provide background knowledge with Snowy Day video. TS and TT will read the story. TTW guide the students to sort events into categories by answering the 5 W’s. TSW identify their categories by writing details for each category. TTW guide the students to answer comprehension questions and analyze the main character. TSW fill in a chart to show how the character feels.

Wednesday-TSW read the story. TTW guide the students to sequence

the story events. TS will assemble a list of sequenced events. TS will retell the story using what they created.

Tuesday – Phonics Reading – Tails. TSW read the report and circle the animal names. Underline how each animal uses its tail. TSW complete activity #18 – Use your prior knowledge to tell how these animals use their tails. Write their answers in complete sentences. Wednesday – Phonics Reading – Honkers. TSW read the story and underline and code the facts using the coding key. (This will be placed in page protectors and TSW use dry eraser markers. TSW complete student activity # 15; answering each question in a complete sentence.Thursday – Phonics Reading – Elephants. TSW read the story. TSW underline and code facts in the report. (This will be placed in a page protectors and TSW use dry eraser markers. TSW complete student activity #21. TSW write the correct word from the word bank to complete each sentence.Friday – Complete any parts of the center work that is not completed. Center 4 Language Center: TSW complete a work packet on simple and compound sentences.

Tuesday – TSW read the sentences. Decide if the sentences are simple or compound. Then cut and glue the sentences under the correct column.

Wednesday – TSW combine each pair of simple sentences to make a compound sentence. Use the conjunction in parethesis.

Thursday – TSW tell whether or not each sentence is a compound sentence. Write compound or not compound on the line.

Friday – Complete any parts of the center work that is not completed. Silent Read and AR Test.

Homework Monday homework is given to each student. It is due on Friday. The homework will focus on language, reading, and math skills from the lessons taught during the week.
