In order to evaluate who will participate on the 2018 Solo Survival FTX, the cadets of 3125 RCACC will participate in a Solo Survival Prep FTX. 4. Groupings and Tasks

a. Groupings (1) For transportation, the cadets and staff will be transported on one

bus. (2) Cadets will train, sleep, and move in teams. A team list of the

corps can be found in Annex A.

b. Tasks (1) All taskings will be followed as per Annex B.

(2) Meds Officer: Capt Schaber 5. Coordinating Instructions

a. Timings (1) Phase 1: 1730 hrs, 2 Mar 18 – 0000 hrs, 3 Mar 18;

Phase 2: 0000 hrs, 3 Mar 18 – 1200 hrs, 4 Mar 18; and Phase 3: 1200 hrs. 4 Mar 18 – 1700 hrs, 4 Mar 18.

(2) Refer to Annex C for timetable.

b. Routes (1) Refer to Annex D for Routes and Maps.

c. RV’s

(1) RV for departure will be Camp Chestermere; (2) RV for pick up will be Mountain View Sports & Handicap Facilities

dropping off at Camp Chestermere; and (3) RV for all medical emergencies will be determined at location.

d. Training Plan

(1) Refer to Annex E for activity instructions SERVICE SUPPORT 6. Rations and Feeding

a. All meals will be cooked Meals Ready to Eat (MRE). A total of five MREs per cadet will be cooked in the field by an assigned cook party.

7. Transport

a. Transportation from Camp Chestermere will occur on one bus. Kit will be delivered via bus and safety vehicle. A safety vehicle will be driven out for use. A detailed transportation plan is located in Annex F. All vehicles will have a route card to and from Camp Chestermere.

8. Dress and Equipment

a. The FTX will be conducted in FTU for all cadets. Appropriate civilian clothes may be worn to supplement cold weather gear. All cadets will wear a toque and gloves during all activities. Officer staff will wear CADPAT for FTX duration.

b. An equipment list is found in Annex G.

c. Cadets are to bring all issued kit as listed in Annex H.

9. Medical and Emergency Support

a. All staff and senior cadets will be attentive to weather.

b. Staff shall bring any safety-related concerns to the attention of the OIC

c. Fire (1) When a fire is discovered:

i. Call out FIRE FIRE FIRE, to notify all members nearby; ii. Move to fire point and sound the alarm; iii. Move to the RV location and form up for role call by

platoon staff; iv. OIC will call 911; v. OIC will notify camp owners; and vi. Evacuate in the safest manner under direction of OIC.

d. Major injury

(1) First Aider: administer first aid if needed and call 911; (2) OIC: Alert RCSU, initiate CF 2299 or 98; (3) OPI: Notify parents of those affected; and (4) First Responder: Record information about the incident. Time, date,

and a general statement of parties involved and what happened as needed.

e. Minor injury (1) First Aider: administer first aid if needed; (2) OC A: Notify parents of those affected; (3) First Responder: Record information about the incident. Time, date,

and a general statement of parties involved and what happened as needed; and

(4) OIC: Initiate CF 2299 or 98.

f. Lost Cadet (1) Form up all members at RV point; (2) Platoon staff to notify the OIC and conduct head count and role call; (3) Senior cadets to remain with their sections as the search occurs;

(4) Adult staff, RSM, and CSM to clear training areas and areas surrounding the training locations;

(5) OIC to supervise and coordinate all search efforts; and (6) Notify emergency services if required.

10. Water

a. The cadets will carry water bottles at all times. Water jugs will be filled up from the potable water jerry cans present at the training location.

b. Jerry cans will be filled with water prior to leaving Camp Chestermere. Water from the tap at the training location is potable.

11. Emergency Response Plan

a. A full emergency response plan is located in Annex I. 12. Medications

a. All medication will be given to the first aid officer, Lt Fong. Cadets will report to the first aid officer for their meds as prescribed, or as needed IAW the medication.

Emergency Response Plan

A CTIONS I F L OST 1. Individuals : If separated from their sec, cdts will hold in their position until located.

2. Sec Comds : Will conduct head counts regularly to ensure that all members of their Sec are present. If a cdt is missing they will radio into FTX HQ with their location and report that they are missing a member of their section. Once FTX HQ is informed they will take their Sec back along the route they just came sweeping for the missing person until located.

3. FTX HQ : When notified of missing cdt OPI will place a hold on all Secs in the field until the cdt is located. If the cdt is not located by their Sec after 10min, the OPI will recall all Secs to FTX HQ and retask them for a location sweep to locate the missing cdt.

M EDICAL E MERGENCIES 4. In the event of an emergency in which medical treatment or intervention is required

qualified personnel will provide first aid and inform the OPI. If further medical attention is required the OPI will contact EMS for medivac.

5. All calls to EMS shall be conducted by the OPI and will include the nature of the injury, condition of the injured, location of injured pers, and a contact person. If directed by EMS the OPI will remain in phone contact until paramedics arrive.

E XTRACTION P ROCEDURES 6. Personnel with injuries not requiring immediate medical attention will be held at the

HQ tent until arrangements can be made to transport the individual back to the Didsbury Medical Centre.

7. Personnel requiring immediate medical attention will be evacuated by AB Ambulance to Didsbury Medical Centre (approx. 25min) away, along with a designated officer. The direction to contact EMS will be made by the OPI following Ops being informed of the incident as per procedure in Annex F.

8. After EMS is contacted, the injured pers will be transported (if possible) to Mountain View Trg Area main gate where the ambulance will meet with individual. If injured I – 1/2

personnel cannot be moved then an officer or SCdt will be sent to the gate to meet with paramedics and direct them to the location of the injured person. CF 98 and DND 2299 will be on hand.

F IRE 9. In the event of fire cdts will form up at the fire rally point designated on arrival.

Officer staff will contact local fire department to call for assistance. Pl WOs will perform an initial head count and move their Sec to main gate Mountain View. Once at the main gate an additional head count will be conducted by the OPI. Cadets will not participate in firefighting. Officer staff may participate in fire suppression if deemed safe to do so and are comfortable. In the event primary egress route is blocked pers will evacuate along secondary egress route over the bridge listed in the out of bounds area.

UXO

10. Cadets and staff will be briefed on the dangers of UXO at the beginning of the exercise. If UXO is discovered the area will be marked with flagging tape if possible and the location noted and reported to FTX HQ. Following the exercise the OPI shall notify Range Control of any UXO discovered and the exact location. I – 2/2 Annex J 1085-20 (OIC)
