Ruskin Lifting Engineers Limited is a well-established company formed in1947 to provide general engineering services to local industry. In 1972, the then directors identified the need forthe provision of specialist services to the Lifting Equipment industry and the Company was restructured to concentrate on this area.

The Company now provides specialised services both to local industry throughout East Anglia and to the major ferry companies based in Felixstowe.

The Company has been structured to provide services which includes supply, hire, inspection, repair and testing of all types of lifting and mechanical equipment to meet the compliance of the Lifting

Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (L.O.L.E.R.) and also the Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (P.U.W.E.R.)

The Company has a policy of continuous development and improvement and is dedicated to the quality objectives as set out in a quality assurance system. We have official accredition to ISO9001:2008. We also have full accredition from the Safe Contractor Scheme for business.

The directors and staff have adapted procedures to provide a quality organisation, whose procedures are designed to enable the Company to carry out its overall quality policy, practises and objectives.

Air hoists And electric hoists are similar in application to electric chain hoists, with both there are a wide variety of hoists to suit many different requirements, lifting capacities range from 500 kgs to 10 tonne (electric hoists) and 1 tonne to 50 tonne (air hoists), both have variable speed control pendants.

Wire rope ConstruCtion GuideDiagrams shown are various constructions of wire ropes, they consist of a number of strands, laid up or closed, round a core, the function of the core is to support the strands & maintain a working clearance between them, when it is made of fibre it is usually impregnated with lubricant which exudes during the life of the rope to lubricate it internally, wire ropes cores are either I.W.R.C. (independent wire core rope) or F.C. (fibre core) & the wire rope lays are RHOL (right hand ordinary lay) & RHLL (right hand langs lay), multi strand (non rotating) or (anti-spin) ropes are used mainly on high lift cranes where the slight untwisting which takes place when a load is applied.. General enGineerinG Wire ropes come in either steel core or fibre core and sizes range from 1mm dia to 77mm dia and are available in galvanised, ungalvanised and stainless steel, there are many types of construction with the most common being 6 x 36, many others available upon request.

Permanent lifting magnets are ideal tools for easy, quick and economical transportation of flat and round ferrous metal loads. Mostly used in workshops and warehouses and reduces the need to use slings, clamps and grabs, these also reduce operating times, removing the risk of load surface damage and making stacking and location easier and more efficient, a self locking safety catch is also fitted that traps the lever in `mag` position when in operation, these come in various sizes and capacities range from 100 kgs to 2000 kgs safe working load. Girder trolleys otherwise known as push travel trolleys are fully adjustable with a beam width of 50mm to 310mm, dependant upon trolley required, push travel trolleys are available as chain manual operated versions or electric motorised versions with cable systems and safety switches, the safe working load capacity range from 500 kgs to 20000 kgs, both models allow the operator to effortlessly move and position loads in either direction.
