The Vietnamese cultural unit is the family, not the individ-

ual. Family members generations often live together and

watch TV together, using media to maintain connec- tions

to their local community here and abroad.

Vietnamese-Americans value both the connection to

the language and culture of Vietnam as well as to that of

their adopted home in the United States. SBTN is the only
