Mission
Having grown from strength to strength over a period of fifty years the C. S.
Bembalagi Arts, S. M. R. Palresha Science and G. L. Rathi Commerce College seeks to
infuse knowledge through curriculum; attitudes through co-curricular activities; life
skills and human values through extension activities such that the younger generation
has to develop human values and capable of shouldering the responsibility of building
a new India free from caste, creed, religion, sex and poverty. With its excellent infra-
structure, experienced and dedicated faculty and strong support of the Management,
the college has been striving to create men and women with profound knowledge and
skills.

History
With the aim of providing higher education and culture to the community of
Ramdurg Taluka and near by villages in Belagavi district. C. S. Bembalagi Arts college
was started in the historical building. TURNUR PALACE by the great efforts, sacrifices
and dedication of the members of Vidya Prasarak Samiti in June 1966. Science faculty
was started in 1968 and Commerce faculty in 1971. The Science faculty is named as
Sha Motilal Raichand Palaresha Science and Commerce faculty as Giridharlal

Lachamandas Rathi Commerce, who gave generous donations. At present the college
with the name, C.S.B Arts, S.M.R.P. Science and G.L.R. Commerce College, Ramdurg. Is
working in its own NEW BUILDING, ROYAL PALACE. The new building has come up
opposite to Royal Palace.
The college, which started with only 66 students and 6 lecturers in 1966, is now
imparting higher education to more than 1,000 students in B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com.
courses by the devoted faculty. The library, which is housed in the main building, has
more then 47,000 books. The college also subscribes to periodicals, journals/
magazines, news papers etc for the use of students. The laboratories are well equipped
by the UGC grants and management contribution.
We are very much proud of our students academic performance. We have
received a letter of appreciation twice by the Commissioner for Collegiate Education,
Bangalore for obtaining college results more the 75% in the years 2001-02 and
2002-03. Our students secured rank once in B.A. thrice in B.Sc. and twice with 3 Gold
Medals in B.Com. Further our students (obtained) received the gold medals for highest
marks in the subjects namely once in Political Science, once in History, twice in Kannada,
twice in Sociology and thrice in Economics. Our college students have been selected
as “University Blue” in different games namely, Miss. Sairabanu I. Pailavan Kabaddi,
Miss. Lakshmi V. Goranar Cross Country and Kho-Kho, Shri. Kareemasab I. Pailawan
Kabaddi, Shri Nagappa R. Bhajantri Net Ball, Shri. Kareemasab I. Pailawan Discuss
Throw Ist Place RCUB Meet and Javelin Throw 3rd Place RCUB Athletics Meet Our
college students Shri. Kareem I. Pailawan and Shri Shivanand K. Mekhali Participated
in International T-20 Cricket Tournament held at Butwal Cricket Ground, Nepal.
Which proved a continuous representation at University level. Mr. Shivanand
Sayappanavar, our NCC cadet, has participated in Republic Day Parade held at New
Delhi on 26th January, 2015 and has brought a recognition to the institute. Because
of the continuous training motivation and support our college students are always in
the time light in academic, sports and other activities.

2. Courses Information
☯ The B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com. programs are affiliated to Rani Channamma Univer-
sity, Belagavi.
☯ The B.A., degree enables the students to combine an in depth study of social
science.
☯ The B.Sc. degree trains the students for research and develop the scientitic
attitude in students.
☯ The B.Com. degree trains the students in all aspects of business endeavours.
☯ The aim of all three degrees is to impart knowledge and skills to the students. and
to build their future.
3. Eligibility conditions for B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. Courses :
☯ PUC from the Pre-University Board Bangalore or examination of any other Board/
University recognised as equivalent.
☯ Students passing the examination of other boards/universities shall have to
produce Eligibility Letter from the Registrar, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi.
4. Admission Policy/Rules for B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. Courses :
☯ Admissions are according to the existing rules of Rani channamma University,
Belagavi and reservation policy of Government of Karnataka.
☯ Admission form duly filled in with all particulars should be submitted along
with the statement of marks of the previous examination passed and leaving
certificate/TC (one attested copy of each.)
☯ Admission to students, who come from other institutions affiliated to Rani
channamma University, Belagavi, will be given only on the production of “No
objection certificate” from previous college.
☯ Admissions to students other than Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, will be
made only on the production of migration certificate from previous University and
eligibility certificate from Rani Channamma University, Belagavi.

☯ Students seeking admission in the second term have to take admission within a
fortnight after the commencement of second term.
☯ Employees have to produce the permission letter from their employer to continue
their eduction, at the time of admission.
☯ If a student is employed after admission, he/she should produce a permission
letter regarding his continuation of education by the concerned authorities. Oth-
erwise his admission will be cancelled.
☯ If a student wishes to discontinue his/her education after admission, he/she should
submit his/her application to do so before the end of the first term. Otherwise
he/she shall have to pay the second term fee also.
☯ No Admission will be made after the last date which shall be fixed by the Rani
Channamma University, Belagavi.
☯ All Admissions made in the college are provisional and subject to approval of the
university.
☯ If the parental income, is below Rs. 44,500/- per annum the candidate should
produce declaration in the form No. II and III duly signed by the competent
authority.
☯ The list of selected candidates for admission will be displayed on the notice board.
If a candidate is selected by the admission committee he/she should pay the term
fees immediately while taking admission failing which the selection will be can-
celled.
☯ the principal may refuse admission to any student without giving any reason.
☯ Admission to any course is made for one academic year only. Student will be
admitted to the next higher class by fresh application, considering the progress,
conduct and behavior of each student during the preceding year.

6. Course work and Assessment :
☯ The variety of teaching methods are used throughout the courses including lec-
tures, work shops, seminars, projects, group discussions, and Assignments etc.
☯ The various assessment methods are used throughout the courses including
monthly tests, with the aim of helping the students to become independent
learners.
7. Awarding of Degrees :
Since the college is affiliated to Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, the degrees
are awarded by the Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, after the successful
completion of the respective courses.

8. Attendance :
☯ A minimum of 75% of attendance is compulsory according to the rules
prescribed by the University.
☯ Shortage of attendance will be viewed very seriously and may lead to refusal
to appear for annual examination.
9. Facilities :
A. Sri. I. A. Purnik Library :
☯ Library with varied and rare collections of 45,000 books on its shelves is a
bank of knowledge for scholars, teachers and the students. Constant updating
of the books is done to tune with changing needs. Library is subscribing to
many periodicals / journals / news papers etc for the enrichment of knowl-
edge of teachers and students.
☯ Students may read the books in the library by producing the identity card.
☯ Students my borrow the books for a week by producing borrowers ticket.
☯ Book Bank Scheme provides for the lending of books to the poor and
deserving students for the entire year.
☯ E-Library and internet facility is also available
☯ Library working hours :-
From 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on working day and From 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on
Saturday
From 8:00 am to 8:30 pm during examination days.
B. Computer Laboratory
The computer laboratory is a unique feature of our college. It provides computer
training to all B.A.,B.Sc. and B.Com. students as per the curriculum.
C. Language Laboratory
Interested students may use English, Kannada and Hindi Language Skills in the
laboratory.
D. Ladies Room
ladies room caters to all the requirements of the lady students of the college
besides providing them privacy and security. The purified drinking water, separate
toilets are the other features of the ladies room.

E. Ladies Hostel
F. There are well equipped class rooms in the college, some class rooms have digital
Smart Boards, LCD, and other teaching aids for innovative teaching.
Almost all the classrooms are furnished with digital cameras (CC TV) to supervise
the activities of the students and teachers in the classroom.
10. Student Support Services :
A. NCC and NSS :-
☯ The college has NCC and NSS units for both boy and girl students. Training is
given every Saturday to the cadets/volunteers by experienced and dedicated
NCC/NSS officers. 33% of the seats in NCC are reserved for girl students.
☯ The students in NCC shall attend 75% of the parades conducted during the year.
☯ The NSS volunteers shall attend a minimum of 120 service hours during the year.
B. Rover and Ranger Units :
Every year maximum 24 Boys and 24 Girls will be enrolled in the unit.
C. Red Cross Unit :
to motivate the students towards social service.
D. Sports and Games :
A well equipped modernised Gym is setup in the college for the benefit of
students.
Students will be trained in track and field events by the experienced staff. Further
there is a facility of indoor and out door games for the students. Various teams
will be constituted every year to participate in Zonal and inter-zonal tournaments.
E. Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
in view of LPG, education is considered as one of goods at which customers/
stakeholders aim at the quality. Quality, therefore, is an essential factor in higher
education. Thus to achieve excellence in higher education and for post
accreditation quality sustenance measurement, Internal Quality Assurance Cell
(IQAC) is established on our institution under the chairmanship of the Head of the
institution with the heads of important academic and administrative units and few
teaching and distinguished educationists/representatives of local committee and
senior faculty member as the Co-ordinator.

F. Students’ Welfare Council :
The students’ welfare council aims at the allround development and welfare of
the students. It assists the Management and the Principal in understanding the
problems of the students and in finding viable solutions.
Objectives :
☯ To identify, explore and to develop the individual talents and skills.
☯ To provide opportunities to participate in curricular, co-curricular and
extra-curricular activities.
☯ To provide necessary information to the students regarding the central gov-
ernment, state government and other scholarships.
☯ To provide consultancy service in employment information, career guidance
and placement opportunities.
G. SC/ST-Cell
☯ The cell deals with welfare of the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe
students.
☯ The cell acts as a bridge between SC/ST students and college management in
understanding their problems and attempts to solve those problems by
providing viable solutions.
☯ The SC/ST students can be in touch with the cell in case of any grievances.
H. Employment Information, Career Guidance and Placement Cell :
This cell is situated in the library. Students’ welfare officer us in charge of this cell.
He provides all necessary information to the students on employment and place-
ment. Further he guides the students for better career. The main objective of the
cell is to lead the student on the path of success with renewed vigor and confi-
dence.
I. Students’ Grievances Redressal Cell :
The college takes every step to make the students’ stay in the campus both joyful
and memorable one. In that direction apart from providing every facility, we care
for students’ grievances. The students’ grievances redressal cell is created specifi-
cally for this purpose. The students are free to approach the cell during the working
hours to get redress for their grievances, if any Public Relation officer (P.R.O.) is
incharge of this cell.

J. Entry into the Service Cell :
☯ For SC/ST/OBC and other minority students, the cell helps the students to
make entry into the services in various sectors.
K. Remedial Coaching Classes for SC/ST/OBC and other minority students :
☯ The cell arranged special remedial coaching for SC/ST/OBC and Minoity
students from the lecturers of various departments and by inviting guest
lecturers from other nearby colleges.
L. Anti Ragging Committee :
To curb the ragging in the college
M. College Miscellany :
☯ The college miscellany “CHIGURU” is published every year and distributed to
the students. Selected articles written by the students and the staff are pub-
lished in “Chiguru”.
☯ The miscellany is intended to encourage the students flair for writing humor-
ous, serious and creative articles, essays and poems.

N. Events :
The academic activities supported by youth festivals, picnics, study tours, guest

university, state and national level sports, NCC, NSS, cultural and academic fields
are honoured by the college on the Annual day/Independence day/Republic day.
P. Alumni (Old Students) Association :
The college with a long history of fifty years has many alumni holding top

positions in every walks of life. The college is being benefited by the rich
experience and valuable suggestions of its alumni. Alumni are invited to
participate in all activities of the college. We meet with our alumni once in a

C. Poor Students Welfare Fund
Poor students welfare fund is created by Vidya Prasarak Samiti to provide
financial assistance to the poor and deserving students of the college for their
education.
D. Alumini Association Scholarship
Alumini association has come forward to help the poor and deserving students of
our college. It has instituted a scholarship of Rs. 2,000/- to three poor and deserv-
ing students from each faculty of Arts, Science and Commerce.
E. Incentive to Physically challenged and meritorious poor students.
F. Endowment Cash Prizes
The following apostles of education and philantrophists have deposited the money
with the college and interest availed from it is being given as cash prize to the
meritorious students every year as an encouragement.

8) Nominations made by the Principal, regarding General Secretary/Ladies
representative/class representatives/secretaries, can not be changed under any
circumstances (changes shall not be made even on revaluation results).
9) The annual day will be celebrated with the same office bearers. The decision
regarding the conduct of annual day, chief guest etc. Will be decided by President,
Vice-President, General Secretary and Ladies Representative.
10) All nomination of students’ representatives for Gymakhana and other associations
will be made by the committee consisting of principal and vice-president.
11) The decision of the principal is final and binding on staff and student regarding
the formation of office bearers of gymkhana and other associations.
12) A committee constituted for the celebration of “Annual day” consists of Principal,
Vice-President, General Secretary and Ladies Representative. Principal is
the chairman of this committee. This committee decides the activities of the
“Annual day”
13) Rules of Discipline
The students of our college are advised to adhere to the following rules strictly.
a Wearing identity card badges in the college campus is mandatory. The same needs
to be produced whenever demanded by the authorities of the college. If identity
card is lost another identity card can be obtained by paying Rs. 100/-

a Smoking, chewing pan, eating gutakha, use of addictive substances is strictly
prohibited in the college premises.
a Students who remain absent without valid reasons from the regular classes, tests,
examinations etc are liable for serious action, including expulsion.
a Disfiguring compound walls, class rooms, black boards, furniture and the
infrastructure is liable for penalty/punishment.
a Outsiders are not allowed to enter the college campus. Our students encouraging
such persons shall be viewed seriously.
a Disciplined behavior with classmates, college mates, teachers, office staff, library
staff is highly appreciated.
a Formation of Sangha, arranging the tours, meetings, functions and inviting
the guests in the college campus without the permission of the Principal, is
prohibited.
a Making statements to press and public about the college without permission of
the Principal will be treated as indiscipline and disciplinary action will be initiated
against such students.
a Students must maintain perfect silence in the library.
a If the books borrowed from library are spoiled/lost/disfigured, heavy penalty/
punishment will be imposed on such students.
a Any indicipline in the college campus can be brought to the notice of “Discipline
Committee” of a college which decides the penalty/punishment with due
intimation to the Principal. However for any indiscipline considered out side the
above said rules, the decision of the Principal is final and binding.
a Mobiles are strictiy prohibited in the campus.
