March, the fag end of the academic year brings in so much joy and jubilation to us as we close

the year with the celebration of women, women hood and spirit of women. Women, who are

the makers, creators, movers and shakers of the society and bring in significant change, with

just being who they are and doing what they do.

Our deepest regards to Mali Foundation, Mrs. Rekha Rao, Semikron, AIG, SG, Broadcom, LDSG

and all our partners at VIDYA.

A day that celebrates just Her

Every day is women's day, but till realization dawns about her potential, her strength, her

calibre and her inherent skill to build society, community, country and the world, we have to

keep spreading awareness for making her the leader of change.

Hence an awareness drive led by Dr. Deepa Srivastava and Mrs. Rekha Srinivasan to sensitize

the society on the issues related to women through a silent rally was held at old Airport road,

Bangalore. The motorists slowed down, drivers dropped down their gears, pedestrians poised

for a few seconds to get a better look at the placards that reflected the spirit of the awareness

drive. Happy Women's Day!

The stage then shifted to our centres. At VIDYA Mali Foundation,

Marathahalli, the programme commenced with encouraging words of Mrs.

Deepa Srivastava and the ever inspiring message of Mrs. Rashmi Misra,

read out by the former.

Students shared their real life inspirations and role models, motivational quotes, and

presented a skit on "Empowerment of Women". Certificates for the graduating students were

given away on the occasion to make it even more memorable.

Our guests, Dr. Sushila urged the students to shed their

comfort zones, browse into the alien world, fit into it

and eventually become contributing citizens to the

same. Mrs. Madulika's line of thought was, "empower

the men to respect women", and the women not to be

"somebody's someone” but someone in their own right.

.Rekha Rao found her inspiration in each one of the

students present there. Mrs. Sashi opined that once a

woman is independent, she can face the adversities,

brave it, fight it, overcome it and consequently

stop it. She insisted them to earn and save and

stated that education is the only means of

empowerment .

A blood profiling camp succeeded by women related health talk by doctors of Medyog was held

for students; 61 young and old ladies attended the same.

.

At South Bangalore, a week full of activities was organized, with talks on the importance of

physical and mental wellbeing of women by volunteers from Yoga Bharati and Anuradha

Gunashree . Mithan took a story telling session which sensitized the students to the challenges

faced by women in war torn Afghanistan. As the story unfolded, students learnt the art of

quilting and prepared 3 quilts by the end of the session. Competitions were held for them in the

art of Rangoli making, Cooking without fire and Just a minute Jam sessions. The students were

given certificates for Spoken English, Computers, Vastra and Vividha. They also performed a

skit on women empowerment.

Journey of entrepreneurship

A visit to Marriott for putting up a stall; creations by VIDYA girls for sale!

Hues and shades from Varna, designs from Vastra, creative crafts from Vividha, aroma and

flavors from Aahar were on display. Fresh faces from VIDYA vocational courses had a chance to

get a peek into the world of marketing and sales; the beginning of one of many

entrepreneurial journeys!

An entrepreneurial training session led by Mrs. Shoma Bhakre and Mrs. Harmeet featured the

essentials of starting up a business; how to select partners, work in groups, when to leap and

when to stay grounded! The duo posed questions to the students, received answers, recognized

their needs and deciphered their knowledge on their pursuing skill.

Soft skills to sculpt one's success

Facing an interview? Butterflies fluttering? Panic gripping and crushing?

No worries, here's Mrs. Gauri, leading a session for aspiring

professionals of VIDYA, Mali Foundation, Marathahalli students. She

gave tips on how to face an interview with ease and confidence; the

strict Dos and don'ts for success.

Life skills for a better life

"Heard melodies are sweet, those unheard are sweeter" remembered Keats, as life skill trainer,

Gunashree led her session at VIDYA Mali Foundation, Marathahalli on the power of

communication, spoken and otherwise. Positive language, good and kind words, articulating

hope and speaking the universal language of love were the highlights!

unwind amidst our hectic schedules. A thorough planning for the next academic year was
