    Digital Video Planning

    FRIT 7230

    I work in a school system that uses an online grading system and gradebook program. Ihave decided to create a staff development video that trains teachers to effectively usethe gradebook program. This will enable teachers to keep track of students grades pergrading period as well as publish grades for progress reports and report cards. Theprogram also allows teachers to have access to student and parent information andattendance.

    NETS Standards:

    1. Age: The faculty and staff at JCES range from age 22 and above.

    2. Cultural Backgrounds: The faculty and staff at JCES include mainly Caucasianand African American backgrounds.

    3. Educational Levels:The faculty and staff at JCES have a minimum of a bachelorsdegree and a T-4 certificate. Some faculty and staff involved may have higherdegrees and certification.

    4. Specific Entry Skills: The faculty will understand the basic workings ofSchoolMax, the gradebook system. The faculty will be able to record and publishgrades of all students.

    5. Learning Styles: The video will be developed mainly for visual and

    auditory learners; however, all learning styles can benefit from the video.

    6. Motivation:

    Attention: The audience will appreciate this video and its benefits to theirvisual learners, and the actor will guide them through step-by-step instructionsfor recording grades into the online gradebook system.

    Relevance: The audience will find this video meaningful and useful because itwill allow them to record their students grades, average the grades, andpublish them for progress reports and report cards.

    Confidence: Easy to follow step-by-step instructions will be given so that theaudience can easily be successful in maintaining an online gradebook, whichwill allow them to keep track of their students grades and attendancethroughout the school year.

    Satisfaction: The audience of faculty and staff will feel confident and satisfiedknowing that they can now efficiently maintain their students grades with littlemistakes. Teacher can update and modify grades with only a few clicks of amouse. The program will automatically calculate the student's grade based onthe grading system entered by the school. No longer do teachers have to readover messy paper grade books, which are potentially hard to read due to thesmall spaces allowed for writing, and calculating student's grades by hand.Also, the computer's calculations are more likely to be without error whencompared with persons calculations.

    Objectives:

    o Given step-by-step instructions, teachers and staff members will be able to record

    and enter students grades on a weekly basis into an online gradebook systemwith little or no assistance from other teachers or technology directors.
