Video Control Center The Enterprise Video Communications Challenge

Most large organizations today are increasing their use of video to communicate, teach, market and to be more competitive. Companies are spending a tremendous amount of time and money on expensive production equipment with the goal of providing high quality, reliable video presentations that scale to large international audiences. However, these efforts and investments often do not meet their return goals because there is no underlying system to manage the events, content and resources to simplify the production and to reliably search, access, secure and distribute over the company’s existing infrastructure.

The Solution: Media Publisher’s Video Control Center

Large enterprises that have experienced these challenges have found that installing a platform system for all video applications, content and resources provides a high value, high return approach to handling the complexity and the scalability in use cases and audience size. These companies have found that a single system that can support the current best of breed components in the video infrastructure, including encoders, editing tools, streaming servers, CDNs, storage devices, rights control/DRM, portals, etc., provides the flexibility, cost control and risk mitigation they are looking for. Media Publisher's Video Control Center (VCC) is the first and only software platform to address all of these issues by connecting the pieces of the video infrastructure together in a way that provides centralized control and virtually unlimited scalability, while exposing predefined capabilities to end users for ongoing publishing tasks they can perform themselves. Media Publisher's VCC interoperates with and leverages an enterprise's existing IT infrastructure to extend the solution and increase adoption throughout a distributed enterprise to achieve maximum return on investment.

VIDEO NETWORK MANAGEMENT

CDN Integration The VCC provides a CDN framework that supports distribution of content simultaneously over any network.

Proximity Services A network map of routes for primary and secondary streaming servers is provided based on the user’s location to ensure optimum performance.

URL Management Viewers are directed to a system generated URL whenever a program is requested for viewing, which protects the actual location of the video stream.

Clustered VCC Server Environment The system can be installed in a clustered multi-tiered environment to ensure adequate scalability.

Live Event Management Media Publisher provides flexible management of live events whether or not the customer is using a CDN and/or the MP MediaNet module, and supports any combination of multicast and unicast.

Live to VOD Transition Management A VOD program is automatically generated after a live event is closed, with a proposed VOD distribution schema based on the live event distribution.

VOD Scalable Distribution Media Publisher integrates with CDNs to pre-position programs at the edge of the network, closer to users.

MEDIA ACCESS SERVICES

Program Browser The VCC provides an out-of-the-box portal for the media viewer with access to programs based on rights control via LDAP integration or through VCC user management.

Portal API Media Publisher’s Portal API allows the same functionality to be available through other corporate portals.

Single Sign-On Integration with single sign-on technologies is provided to ensure that a user only needs to log in once for access to Media Publisher based on their security level.

Device Syndication Video content can be syndicated out to multiple web properties, mobile devices and digital signage displays.

Search Framework Viewers can easily search and locate video programs using the search engine provided by the VCC. The VCC can also integrate with 3rd party search applications based on a customer’s preference.

Publishing Templates Standards are supported during the publishing process using templates to ensure each portal page contains standard design elements that can be customized.

User Level Reporting Reports are available showing viewing activity on a per- user basis for live and on-demand video usage.

VIDEO ASSET MANAGEMENT Asset Categorization and Search A user friendly interface to search for, add, and categorize assets is provided and supports videos, images, documents, slides PDF files, etc.

Asset Storage The VCC supports network distributed storage as well as integration with 3rd party management systems.

Metatagging Metadata of a video asset is automatically detected, such as bit rate, size, name, etc. for search. Additional fields are provided for adding custom metadata.

Video Program Management One or more videos and other source materials are bundled into a “Program” which is then categorized for display and organization using a simple workflow.

Content Expiration Video programs can be automatically expired after a set date and time.

Digital Rights Management Integration Integration with Microsoft DRM for additional security rights protection is supported.
