ObituaryVictoria Denise Askew Owusu was born February 28, 1972, to the parentage of

Charles C Askew, Sr., and Bobbie A. Roland. Victoria met and married Yawayim Owusu. They shared

twenty years of marriage, and to this union, three children were born, Amma, Afia and Kwame, all of

Arlington, Texas.

Victoria accepted Christ at an early age under the ministry of Minister Cleotha Miller of Arbala

Road Church of Christ. She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1990. Shortly after, she

attended Texas A&M Commerce. Victoria was employed at AT&T, where she served for fourteen

years.

Victoria was a devoted wife, daughter, mother and sister. She leaves to mourn her passing: her three

children, Amma, Afia and Kwame; loving mother, Bobbie A. Askew; five brothers, Sherby Spivey

(Glenda) of Cedar Park, Texas, Ricky Spivey (Jackie), Chris Spivey (Ann), Keith Spivey and

Robert Askew, Sr., and a dear sister, Sequita Mosley (Anthony), all of Sulphur Springs,

Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Yawayim Owusu, father, Charles C.

Askew, Sr., brother, Charles C. Askew, Jr., paternal grandparents, Arva Askew, Sr.,

and Zodia Askew, and maternal grandparents, James and Irene Roland.

To Our Beloved SisterThere is not a day that goes by that we are not talking about you. We are so grateful for the

wonderful memories that you left us with.

You were truly a giver, always giving to others. It did not matter who you were, you would give your last.We were always joking with you about having a “plan” before you went shopping. If not we

knew you would be in the stores all day.

Everybody in Birch Creek knew you did not like milk. Like the time you poured a glass of milk andDaddy would ask, “Victoria, what’s that white stuff in that glass?”, and you would reply, “milk,”

and he would say, “DRANK IT!”

You would follow us everywhere. As kids we had our own canyon in Birch Creek and did our own “flying tricks.” We went on many vacations and enjoyed holidays together and so much more. As much as we are

going to miss our sister, we do not live our lives as if we have no hope.

Psalm 30:5 says, “For HIS anger endureth but a moment: In HIS favor is life, weeping may endure for a night, but JOY cometh in the morning.”

May the LORD grant YOU perfect rest.

YOUR SIBLINGS, WE LOVE YOU,Sherby, Ricky, Chris, Sequita, Keith, Robert

We RememberWe will remember your beautiful smile, fancy clothes, lavish perfumes and your stylish shades.

We will remember how you enjoyed dancing, singing and even rapping even if no one else joined in.We will remember how you were always ready to take a road trip no matter the destination.

We will remember you always trying your best to never miss a graduation, family reunion, birthday party, church event, holiday or even the births of your great nieces and nephews.

We will remember you being superstitious and never letting us split a pole or step on a crack. We will remember your high spirits and the love you had for everyone

that the unconditional love that never changed. Most of all we will remember this is not a goodbye but a see you later.

You will forever be in our hearts.

We love you, Aunt VictoriaFrom your Nieces and Nephews

To Victoria,My Baby and Baby Girl

On February 28,1972, your Father and I were blessed with a new and last addition to our lovely blended family. You were a true blessing to all of your brothers and your big sister, Sequita. When asked what we were going to

name you, your father said EMPHATICALLY, “VICTORIA” (QUEEN VICTORIA).

As years passed, it seemed as though that name just stuck with you. I am so thankful to God for your life and the accomplishments that he made for you. I knew the loss of your brother was a hard thing for you to overcome, but God made a way. You were blessed with a husband who loved you, and you blessed us again with the three most

lovable, sweet, and smart children any grandmother could ask for—AMMA, AFIA and KWAME.

I thank God for my beautiful family of eight, my grandchildren and my great-grandchildren.In the book of Psalm, David writes, “I have been young and now I am old, yet have I seen the righteous forsaken

or his seed begging bread. He is merciful and lendeth and his seed is Blessed.”

I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU, TORILOVE, MOTHER

Definition of a MotherThe definition of mother is “ A woman in relation to a child or children to whom she has given birth”, but our mom did more than that. She far exceeded her role and definition as someone who just gives birth to her children. She was woman who sacrificed and supported her children with the best emotional support a mother could bring. She set the standard on being a mom and she would perform it as a professional. Her nurturing spirit

wasn’t just received by her birth given children, but would spread to other love ones, family, and friendsso much that you would think you were one of her own.

To our beloved mother, we thank you. You were the sweetest woman and everyone I ask would say the same. You strongly abided by the golden rule of being to others as you are to yourself. You would give a stranger your last dollar and will worry if it was enough. Your only enemy was the devil himself. You were one of the most optimistic persons I’ve ever met and knew exactly what to say in times of needed comfort. Whether it was school,

work, family or friends, you always knew what to say and how to say it to make us feel better.

To our beloved mother, nurturer, teacher, nurse, cheerleader, therapist, financial consultant, friend, and like you always claimed our atm??, we will always love you. We are comforted in knowing you are happy with Daddy now and that our family will be reunited again one day. But until then, us three children, the will do our best to be good to this world and the people in it like you all taught us. We will strive to be are best and become at least

half the parent you were to us. Both lives were cut short, but you will both live a long legacy throughthe people proud to be called your children.

Until we meet again, Goodnight. Amma Agyeman, Afia KorKor, and Kwame Ayim Owusu
