“Good. We have 2 bats. They can be bird singers. Get in the wagon, Bats.”

“I see 2 chipmunks. I need 1 more,” said Victor Diego.

“There’s 1 more stuffing its mouth with seeds,” said Quail.

“Good. We have 3 chipmunks. They can make music.

Get in the wagon, Chipmunks.”

“I see 3 butterflies. I need 1 more,” said Victor Diego.

“There’s 1 more in that flower,” said Quail.

“Good. We have 4 butterflies. They can decorate my cape.

Get in the wagon, Butterflies.”

“I see 4 rabbits. I need 1 more,” said Victor Diego.

“There’s 1 more behind the cabbage,” said Quail.

“Good. We have 5 rabbits. They can be drummers.

Get in the wagon, Rabbits.”

“I see 5 raccoons. I need 1 more,” said Victor Diego.

“There’s 1 more getting a drink,” said Quail.

“Good. We have 6 raccoons. They will be a good audience. Get in the wagon, Raccoons.”

“I see 6 pigs. I need 1 more,” said Victor Diego.

“There’s 1 more covered in mud,” said Quail.

“Good. We have 7 pigs. I need a bigger audience. Get in the wagon, Pigs.”

“I see 7 ducks. I need 1 more,” said Victor Diego.

“There’s 1 more chasing a bug,” said Quail.

“Good. We have 8 ducks. They will be good dancers. Get in the wagon, Ducks.”

“I see 8 toads. I need 1 more,” said Victor Diego.

“There’s 1 more beneath the tiny tree,” said Quail.

“Good. We have 9 toads. I need more dancers, too. Get in the wagon, Toads.”

“We’re here!” shouted all the animals.

“Okay, get into groups that are alike.

There should be 1 quail, 2 bats, 3 chipmunks, 4 butterflies . . .

5 rabbits, 6 raccoons, 7 pigs, 8 ducks, 9 frogs, and 10 . . .

“Uh, oh. I need 10. I have to have 10. I have to have 10 somethings

to play the flutes,” said Victor Diego Seahawk.

“I see 10 lizards,” said a little pig.
