Upcoming Programs Health Professions Career Exploration
Designed to expose college freshman, sophomores and juniors to the diverse health sciences careers within the VCU School of Allied Health Professions.
Two-week, non-residential program in which students will get to learn about career opportunities, experience hands on activities within each discipline.

Liberty University School of Aeronautics – Flight Training for high school students
Free private pilot ground school class this fall for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. It will cover the entire King Schools Private pilot course with an actual sit in class to go along with it.

o Lee Jackson Scholarship Eligible: Junior or senior, planning to attend four-year college or university, if planning to
attend community college first – then the student must be enrolling into the college transfer program at the community college, financial need is not a requirement.

o Greater Richmond Relocation Council (GRRC) Scholarship
Eligibility: High School senior in good standing in the Richmond/Tidewater area public high school.
Requirements: Relocated between grades 9 and 12, relocated more than 50 miles and changed schools due to relocation, minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.5

o Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation 2016-2017 Scholarship
Recipients must be of at least college age, reside in one of the counties served by Colonial Farm Credit, and be a full-time student.

o Buick Achievers Scholarship Program
Eligible: High School Senior who plan to enroll in a full-time College/University in 2016-2017. Requirements: Plan to major in a specified course of study focused on engineering, technology

o University of North Georgia- Military
Eligibility: High school juniors who are rising seniors may apply for the scholarship as early as mid-June between junior and senior year of high school. There are 4-year and 3-year advance-designee scholarships worth $57,000 over four years or $44,000 over three years.
Deadline: Late February You agree to serve in the Regular Army, Army National Guard or Army Reserve as an officer

o Willard G. Plentl Aviation Scholarship Program
Eligible: Senior planning to pursue a career in aviation in a non-engineering area. Non-engineering aviation careers include (but are not limited to) pilots, aviation maintenance technicians, aviation managers. Must have 3.5 GPA (unweighted)

o John R. Lillard Aviation Scholarship
Eligible: 3.5 GPA, planning a career in the field of aviation, must be enrolled or accepted into an aviation related program at an accredited college.

o Buster Bynum Education Scholarship
Eligible: Graduating Senior
Requirements: A minimum GPA of a 3.0, will attend a post-secondary institution in the fall of 2016; parent/guardian has been an active employee in public school transportation in the past three years.
Award: $2,500

o The Society of the Cincinnati in the State of VA History Essay Contest for Scholarship Eligible: High School Senior who has been admitted to a four-year college or University in the
Commonwealth of Virginia and plans to attend in the fall of 2016. Requirements: Students must write an Essay on the following topic: The Virginia Statute of
Religious Freedom Award: $3,000 Deadline: Must be postmarked by March 18th. Located in the scholarship drawer under H.
o The American Legion Department of Virginia Eligibility: citizens of or lawful permanent residents of the United States. All contestants must be bona fide students herein described as any student under the age of 20
years on the date of the national contest who is presently enrolled in a high school or junior high school (public, parochial, military, private or home school).
Deadline: March 18, 2016 Award: Up to $18,000
o The Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia Eligibility: Any graduating Virginia high school senior who has been admitted to a four-year
college or university in the Commonwealth of Virginia which he or she plans to attend in the fall of 2016, is eligible to enter the essay contest.
Award: $3,000 Deadline: March 18, 2016 Essay topic: Each year the essay is about a historical document that played an important role in
the establishment of our nation. Past essay topics have included such documents as the Virginia Declaration of religious Freedom, the United States Constitution, and the Virginia Statute for Declaration of Independence. This year’s topic will be: The Virginia Statute of Religious Freedom.

o Genworth Veterans Scholarship
Eligible: Graduating Senior who has meet with their GRASP advisor.
Requirements: Will attend a four year college or university, junior college or trade school; Must be a child of a veteran whom the armed forces have honorably discharged or who is still serving as active or reserve.

o The Network of Enterprising Women Deadline: March 31st Any female high school student (whether she attends home school, public or private school)
who resides in the counties and cities listed below and has been accepted at an accredited college or university is eligible for a $1000 scholarship. Recipient must have:
Maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA Demonstrated a strong work ethic Exhibited strong leadership characteristics as a participant in extracurricular activities such as
music, drama, athletics, DECA, etc. Each applicant must submit an essay that meets specifications (all essays must be double
spaced using a 12 point font size and must not exceed two pages in length) and answers the following question: “What business woman do you admire most and how has she personally influenced the direction of your life?”

o The Virginia Credit Union Scholarship Eligibility: Must be a primary member of Virginia Credit Union (not just any credit union in
Virginia) and have joined by September 20, 2015. Applicant must be the primary owner of a VACU account, not just a joint owner and accounts must be in good standing. Contact (804)323-6800 for clarification. Must have 3.0, community service/volunteer work, hours devoted to help with the cost of education, extracurricular activities and an essay.

Eligible: All African American students applying to the University are automatically considered for the five to seven Holland Scholarships available each year. Most Holland Scholars are in the top 10% of their class and have a 1300 or better on the SAT.

o Alumni Scholarships The alumni sponsors several scholarships for both incoming and current undergraduate students. There is an application process for most of their scholarships but others may be based on other

o Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is the largest Hispanic scholarship-granting organization in the nation. HSF provides financial assistance to outstanding Hispanic students in higher education throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. The students represent every region of the country, and attend hundreds of institutions of higher education throughout America. Founded in 1975, HSF has awarded more than 45,000 scholarships totaling nearly $60 million.
o o American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES)
The American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) is a national, nonprofit organization that nurtures building of community by bridging science and technology with traditional Native values. Through its educational programs, AISES provides opportunities for American Indians and Native Alaskans to pursue studies in science, engineering, business and other academic arenas. The trained professionals then become technologically informed leaders within the Indian community.
