Thank You for Your Generousity!

We want to take the time to thank all of you who have periodically dropped off supplies and food to our shelter. From everyday housekeeping supplies to our special cat and dog needs. From aluminum cans to toner cartridges that can be recycled. We sincerely appreciate your donations.

These donations help us spend our money on other needs such as vaccines, spay and neuter surgeries, medications, and even flea and heartworm prevention for the cats and dogs accepted into our adoption program.

Our complete wish list can always be found on our website. Just click on the orange pull-down menu on the right hand side of our website. Look for the tab “WISH LIST.” And for those of you on social media, like our Facebook page so you will receive our special “N.O.W. - Need of the Week.”

You can also check out our Amazon Wish List. Search for “Allen County SPCA wish list” at www.amazon.com under the Wish List tab.

Executive Director’s MessageThe mission of the Allen County SPCA reads that we’ll “promote the prevention of cruelty to animals by providing a safe haven for animals, an effective and comprehensive adoption program, education and outreach programs for the community and deep and broad membership and volunteer programs.” In an effort to expand our services and to think outside the box, I’ve been wondering what else we can do to be of service to pets and the people who love them. After reflecting on our mission awhile, I knew that we could be so much more than a dynamic adoption center, and that our founders and donors would want us to ensure we hadn’t forgotten the education component of our mission.

In that light, last month we sent out our very first e-newsletter, e-Paws. Chances are, if we have your email address on file, you received it. In addition to this printed monthly newsletter which so many of you read faithfully (and that you’re reading right now!), we’ll offer supplemental information on important topics surrounding pet health, safety and the latest news and information from the shelter in the e-newsletter. We are pleased that Dr. Brandon Stapleton of St. Joe Center Veterinary Hospital (2013 & 2014 ACSPCA Veterinarian of the Year) will be contributing an article each month in which he’ll offer timely and important information for your pet’s health. In the June issue of e-Paws, Dr. Stapleton highlighted the significance of heartworm prevention – a topic close to our own hearts (pun intended) as we’re currently treating three beautiful heartworm positive dogs who are terribly sick. In addition to his regular column, you can expect links to various videos found in the Learning Lab at our website, www.acspca.org, and, finally, we’ll post a calendar of upcoming events and feature adoptable pets, too!

We hope those of you who are receiving e-Paws in your email inbox have enjoyed it. If you’d like to be added to the mailing list, send an email to [email protected]. We’ll be glad to have you! e-Paws is just one more way we’re striving to fulfill our mission. Feel free to forward e-Paws to your friends and family to help spread the message of the Allen County SPCA.

As always, I thank you for your commitment to the mission and our program!

VETERINARIAN OF THE YEAR AWARDIs your veterinarian the best in town? Has your vet gone above and beyond in caring for and treating your animals? If so, help your vet become the Allen County SPCA’s 2015 Veterinarian of the Year by voting for his or her practice! Each vote costs just $1, and all proceeds benefit the Allen County SPCA. The more you donate, the greater the chances of your favorite veterinarian winning!

This friendly competition yields great recognition for local veterinarians who always go the extra mile for their patients, and it helps support the efforts of the Allen County SPCA at the same time.

Tax deductible donations (votes) can be made the following ways:

• In person at any participating Allen County veterinarian’s office.

• By mailing a check to the shelter with the vet’s name or practice in the memo line.

• By calling the shelter at (260) 744-0454 ext. 203 to make a credit card contribution.

• By visiting our website, clicking on the Vote for your Vet campaign button, selecting the vet’s practice from the drop-down box and making a secure online PayPal donation.

Voting begins this month. The winning veterinary practice will receive a plaque to display in its office as well as a table at Catwalk! on October 10, 2015.

Visit our website for more information on ways you can help us serve pets and the people who love them!
