VERY BEGINNING BAND INSTRUMENTATION Please note: Our band and orchestra music is now being collated by an automatic high-speed system. The enclosed parts are now sorted by page count, rather than score order. We hope this will not present any difficulty for you in distributing the parts. Thank you for your understanding. NOTES TO THE CONDUCTOR Although the prescribed ranges are limited, this very playable composition will meet the demands of your young musicians. Scored in E-flat, the arrangement features two prominent components: the fanfare-like introduction and the descending eighth-note stepwise melodic material. The arranger has presented the first component in the thickly scored grandiose fashion at a uniform forte dynamic level and the second component at a contrasting mezzo piano level, trading descending eighth-note scale patterns to ensure solid ensemble pulse while retaining controlled technical demands. Both segments are presented twice, building to a strong musical conclusion. Given the limitations of this series, Victor’s arrangement pres- ents the variety and the tone color necessary to make this selection a wonderful musical treat for your students’ first holiday performance. Paying particular attention to dynamic and stylistic contrasts, this ar- rangement of the classic carol will correlate with most beginning band methods and will certainly please both your students and audiences. 1 Conductor 10 C Flute 2 Oboe 10 B _ Clarinet 2 B _ Bass Clarinet 6 E _ Alto Saxophone 4 B _ Tenor Saxophone 2 E _ Baritone Saxophone 8 B _ Trumpet 4 Horn in F 6 Trombone/Baritone/Bassoon 2 Baritone Treble Clef (World Part Trombone in B _ Treble Clef) 4 Tuba 2 Mallet Percussion (Chimes, Bells) 2 Percussion I (Snare Drum, Bass Drum) 2 Percussion II (Triangle, Hi- Hat Cymbals) WORLD PARTS Available for download from www.alfred.com/worldparts Horn in E _ Trombone/Baritone in B _ Bass Clef Tuba in E _ Bass Clef Tuba in E _ Treble Clef Tuba in B _ Bass Clef Tuba in B _ Treble Clef ANGELS WE HAVE HEARD ON HIGH TRADITIONAL Arranged by VICTOR LOPEZ (ASCAP) Preview Only Legal Use Requires Purchase
