May 24 Last day of school/Graduation New TPA Tardy Policy Between each class period there is a five-minute passing period to allow students the opportunity to get their books for the next class, use the restroom, and socialize a bit. On a campus as small as ours, five minutes is plenty of time for this passing period. Unfortunately we have far too many students showing up late to classes. When students come to class late, it causes a disruption to the flow of class, which affects all the students as well as the teacher. In an effort to deter the number of tardies that we see in a day, a new tardy policy with significant changes from the old policy has been approved by the board. Click here to see the new policy that will be added to the Family Handbook and which will take effect starting February 1, 2017. The most significant changes include a decrease in the number of unexcused tardies allowed before a student earns a detention, the addition of lunch detention as the first consequence for excessive tardiness, and a tiered set of consequences for excessive tardies. Why everyone should care about the TPA Tax Credit program Did you know that TPA budgets for ALL of its extra-curricular programs based on the fees students pay to participate in the program AND donations to the Tax Credit program. When we fall short on Tax Credit donations we are forced to do one of three things:

1. Cover the shortfall with funds from the school’s general operating budget, which takes funds out of the classroom where they are needed most. 2. Reduce the number of extra-curricular activities we offer our students. 3. Re-structure participation fees for the extra-curricular activities.

We know that extra-curricular activities are an important part of our students’ school experience and we want to continue to offer these vibrant and varied programs – and we can with everyone’s help! Please donate to the TPA Tax Credit program HERE and ask your friends and family to do the same. Donations for your 2016 AZ State Taxes can be made up until April 15th. 9th Grade Fall Catalina Trip – Forms and deposit due April 3 Click here for a copy of the forms for the third annual TPA 9th Grade Science and Snorkeling Trip to Catalina Island.
