The d20SE Starships Submission Guidance

What is the d20SE Project? The d20SE Project is an attempt to compile conversions, modifications and player creations into a series of PDF style “books” for use by any gamer in the d20 Saga Edition Universe. This particular project covers Starships. Other projects will include Ground/Air/Sea Vehicles, Equipment, Planets and whatever else we come up with. But we require your input. We provide a standard word .doc format for you to follow and you contribute. Credit is given by each entry in the d20SE. How do I make the conversions? Either follow the WizO d20 approved method, here: http://gmsarligames.com/catalog/sagaconversion.php Or read through this thread for user’s tips on Converting from d20 or d6: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=860981 What do I include? Simply, whatever information that fits the format. There is a Notes section for random errata and special rules at the bottom of each entry. Try to keep each entry to one page. And we would like a simple picture to include with each entry. Feel free to send us the highest resolution image attached and we will edit it as needed. Where/How do I submit it? Email all submissions to: [email protected] Put them in .zips or .doc format. Images can be in .gif or .jpg. Other normal image extensions are also acceptable. What is the format? Included in the .zip file is a template to use. Keep the fonts as they are 10pt Arial for everything except the title of the craft which is 12pt Arial. An explanation of each entry is as follows. If you don’t have the data, put in N/A, none or ?? where appropriate. Official Ship Name 12pt Italicized Bold. The ship name, if it is a stock model it would read something like YT-1300 Stock Light Freighter if it is a custom entry it would read Millennium Falcon. CL Challenge Level Size The size of the craft. Huge Starfighter to Gargantuan Station. Era When the item in question exists.

UW: Unification Wars. The founding of the Old Republic, some 25,000 years before The Phantom Menace. KoR: Knights of the Old Republic Era, some 5,000-1,000 years before The Phantom Menace. Includes the Great Hyperspace War, the Great Sith War, Mandalorian Wars, Jedi Civil War, and New Sith War. The Era essentially ends with the Battle of Russan. RoE: Rise of the Empire. This is the Era of the prequel films, essentially starting with the Stark Hyperspace War and ending with Order 66. Reb: Rebellion. This is the era of the classic trilogy, extending from the birth of Luke and Leia and the founding of the Rebel Alliance to the defeat of the Empire at Endor. NR: New Republic. This covers the timeframe from the formation of the New Republic, shortly after the Battle of Endor, to the peace accords between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant. NJO: New Jedi Order. Begins with the invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong and ends when the Vong relocate to Zonoma Sekot. Leg: Legacy. Begins 150 years after the end of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. Includes the rise of the New Sith, fall of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, and the rise of the New Empire. Some items are available from a given era on. Such items will have a + after their Era abbreviation. Thus, an item with RoE+ will be available any time after the Rise of the Empire era. Some items, however, were only available in certain eras. Cortosis-laced vibroblades, for example, fell out of use after the Battle of Russan. Those weapons would only be available in the Knights of the Old Republic era, and so would have a KoR listed as their era. (ref by Erik Bjelke) Contributor Your name or Community ID. Base Model The base model such as YT-1300 or Action VI Transport, whatever it was birthed from the factory as, before it became what we know it to be today. Rarity How hard it is to find. Prevalent: Available basically everywhere. If the planet your on has any contact with the galaxy at large, you can find it. Common: Available in nearly every well-developed area. While it might not be in the local store at Anchorhead, you can probably find it in Mos Eisley. Uncommon: Available in most well-developed worlds. It may not be available on Tatooine, but you can probably find it on Naboo. Rare: Available on only select worlds. You can’t find it on Naboo, but you can find it on Corellia, Mon Calamari, and Coruscant. Specialized: Available only on its world of origin. You can only find it on Kashyyyk. (ref by Erik Bjelke) Manufacturer The manufacturer of the ship or base model, such as Sygnus Spaceworks or Galforee Yards.

Restriction Who can use it legally. Legal: Ownership/use of the item is perfectly legal most everywhere in the galaxy. No one will mind if you use your datapad or consult your protocol droid. Licensed: A license must be obtained to own or operate the item, and the license is easy to obtain. You have to be able to find your way to the building and spell your name to drive a landspeeder. Restricted: Only specifically qualified individuals and organizations may normally own or use the item. It takes many tests and background checks to purchase a blaster. Military: Only members of the military may own or use the item. Civilians can’t legally fly X-Wings, carry rocket launchers, or own battle droids. Illegal: No one is legally allowed to own or use the item. Disruptors and neuronic whips are barbaric instruments outlawed since the formation of the Old Republic. (ref by Erik Bjelke) Senses/Perception Self explanatory Cost How much it costs New (Used). I understand the points made by some about how if one tries to correlate the cost of things a starfighter should cost in the millions and Star Destroyers in the trillions, but we’re going to stick to the prices set by WEG/Wizards just for the sake of continuity. STATS section should be self explanatory. Payload if the ship carries finite munitions, such as bombs or missiles. Just the quantity. Damage and attack should have been covered in the weapons section. (ie 10 missiles) Notes Random errata and special rules, information that affects gameplay. History A brief blurb about the history of the ship. I recommend just doing a little cut-n-paste from starwars.wikia.com Included are some samples.

Notes ** Backup shield generators allow a re-roll of any failed mechanics check used to restore shields. The second roll must be taken regardless. All weapon ranges are reduced by 1 due to power demands. History The Rebel Alliance had a limited amount of capital ships in its fleet. To fill their need for warships, Rebel engineers started the AAF project. Though the Mk. II model used the same basic Dreadnaught hull as the Mk. I, the AAF-IIs incorporated redundant deflector shields similar those in Mon Calamari Star Cruisers. The Mark II shirks much of its predecesors' history, moving away from the standard Dreadnaught model toward a more original design. However, the Mark I remained in common use even in the time of the New Republic.

History The Action IV transport was a CEC medium bulk freighter of the Action series. It had a trapezoidal shape and was roughly 100 meters in length. Internally, its holds could be adapted to various pressures and climates with individual configurations. Even though each ship was sold without any weaponry or defensive shields built in, plenty of after-market systems could be added to the Action IV.

History Corellian Engineering Corporation's Action V transport was a member of the Action series of bulk transports. It was a modest upgrade of the older Action IV transport's design. Action V freighters couldn't carry as much cargo as the newer Action VI transports, but were also less expensive, and could be found throughout the Galaxy in the ownership of private individuals and freelance traders. The Action V was the most popular of the series, despite the fact that its Class 4 hyperdrive was slower than the Class 3 used in both its predecessor and successor.

History Action VI transports typically operated in convoys or in well patrolled areas of space, since they lacked even the most basic forms of self-defensive measures, and had to rely on protection from other capital ships. The only reason they were used by the Galactic Empire, was because they were quite inexpensive (relative to Imperial wealth). The Rebel Alliance also employed these cargo vessels, often as personnel carriers, but in much smaller quantities since they were far more expensive than GR-75 medium transports. Most Action VIs were stolen from the Empire. Pirates often modified Action VI ships into "interceptor frigates" capable of combating starfighters and corvettes. The most famous Action VI was Wild Karrde, the personal starship owned by smuggler Talon Karrde.

Notes none History The RZ-1 A-wing interceptor was a starfighter designed by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. One of the fastest interceptors in the Known Galaxy, next to the TIE/In starfighter, the A-wing was the design and functional heir of the Alpha/Delta/Eta line. The genesis of the A-wing resides in General Jan Dodonna's post-battle analysis of the Battle of Yavin. The value of Alliance starfighters were undeniable in the battle—but Dodonna was concerned that a simple trio of TIE starfighters had almost foiled the trench run. Knowing that the Imperial Navy was conducting similar analyses and would come to the same conclusions, Dodonna set about planning the creation of a dedicated Alliance interceptor. His prediction was perceptive, as Sienar Fleet Systems engineers began work on the TIE Interceptor, an Imperial fighter to match the A-wing in speed. To design the starfighter, Dodonna turned to Walex Blissex, famed ex-Kuat Systems Engineering engineer. Blissex had valuable experience from his work on the Clone Wars-era Delta-7 and Alpha-3 interceptors, and the two set about drawing up designs. Basing their initial designs around the R-22 Spearhead (which was already nicknamed by pilots as "A-wing," perhaps a play on the ancient A-wing military fighter and to be consistent with the -wing names of other Rebel craft), the pair drafted a proposal and presented it to Chief of State Mon Mothma. Dodonna and Blissex's timing was not well-chosen; while the victory at Yavin had jolted thousands of worlds into rebellion, it had brought down Emperor Palpatine's wrath and scattered the Alliance. As such, funding was tight, and the A-wing program presented a major investment for the credit-strapped Alliance. Nevertheless, Dodonna's fame from his role in the Yavin victory made a denial difficult, and Mothma approved a reduced amount of funding.

Redkihl Rokk and his band of pirates piloted a modified Carrack-class cruiser, Hungry Ghost, during the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War. During the Clone Wars, they served as fast-attack escorts for larger ships like Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers. A group of Carracks, along with other Republic vessels, helped bring down the Confederate flagship Invisible Hand at the Battle of Coruscant.

History The Authority IRD, short for Intercept * Reconnaissance * Defense, was a swift and heavily armed starfighter used by the Corporate Sector's Picket Fleet. It featured powerful engines, twin laser cannons, and the best pilot ejection mechanism of any contemporary fighter, but lacked a hyperdrive. As a result, the Authority IRD had to be transported by larger vessels such as the Marauder-class corvette or the Victory-class Star Destroyer. The Corporate Sector Authority designed the Authority IRD fighter for the various missions of the Picket Fleet. Early Authority IRD models were not aerodynamic and performed so badly in atmospheric combat that many pilots refused to engage targets in atmosphere; this led to the development of the Authority IRD-A, which was deployed during atmospheric battles. The IRD-A had a carefully molded fuselage that channeled air through a vector stabilizer, enhancing both maneuverability and speed; it also mounted concussion missiles, making it a tougher opponent than its predecessor. During Han Solo's days in the Corporate Sector, Solo and a group of outlaw techs fought against the new Authority IRD-A fighters, defeating them in early model Z-95 Headhunters; this victory was anomalous, however, and other, more successful battles encouraged the Authority to begin a full production run of the IRD-A.

After being commissioned, the Dreadnaughts saw use in ending major conflicts, but its shortcomings were quickly apparent. To counter the most glaring flaw of the Dreadnaught fleet, the Galactic Republic military developed a technology to reduce the crew requirements. By installing a full-rig slave circuitry system, the crew requirements could be reduced from 16,000 per ship to a more manageable 2,200. Two hundred of the heavy cruisers were outfitted with this new technology and dubbed the Katana fleet. The project failed when the crew were driven insane by a hive virus, slaved the fleet together, and made a random jump into hyperspace before the virus killed off every crew member.

The interior of an escape pod was spartan—passengers were expected to use the pod only for a few hours. Some pods seated as few as two people, while larger pods could carry over a dozen beings. Padded g-couches protected occupants from injury. A simple piloting station provided access to the sensor, communication, and flight control systems, although the shipboard systems were heavily automated so the escape pod could land without a pilot at the controls. Sensors provided atmosphere as well as radiation and gravitational information about nearby planets, and a limited comm transceiver scanned for activity on standard communication frequencies. Emergency homing beacons were also standard, often at least as powerful as an OmniNode Communications Set. Many escape pods were equipped with limited hyperspace capability to facilitate travel to a planet on which to land. The interior compartments carried up to two weeks of rations, including food, water, survival shelters, medpacs, breath masks, glow rods, and comlinks. Galactic law often required escape pods to be fitted with a medkit and at least one medpac, though many times these regulations weren't followed. Sometimes an escape pod's emergency supplies included a civilian hunting blaster. In emergencies, survivors could use the escape pod as a shelter while seeking more adequate protection. Escape pods had simple drive systems with just enough fuel to orient the pod toward the nearest habitable planet and assist in emergency braking during landing. In some pods, parachutes, maneuvering jets, flotation devices, or repulsorlift drive units slowed planetary descent and cushioned landing.

Notes The 70 Shield Rating this ship has is what one would get if one translated the 4D+2 Shields it had in WEG with the same formula used for all the starfighters in the SECR. This is insanely strong for a ship of this size, but fits the description of the ship as putting an abnormal amount of its power into its shields. (It seems much more appropriate than using the capital ship formula and giving it more shielding than a 150 meter corvette like SotG did.) History In a standard operation, a Gamma-class assault shuttle would pull up near an enemy ship and take hold of it with either its tractor beam or power harpoon. It would then launch its spacetroopers to seize control of the vessel, sometimes crippling the ship beforehand with a few well-placed turbolaser shots. These ships were composed of three sections. The first section was the command crew cockpit, where a crew of five not only controlled the shuttle, but monitored its spacetroopers as well. The second section, the main body, was where the spacetroopers were carried. There were forty holding compartments for spacetrooper armor, enough for an entire platoon. While being stored in the assault shuttle, the spacetroopers' power armor was constantly being recharged. Each compartment was equipped with a fold-away door, allowing the shuttle to quickly launch its troopers into space. To protect its valuable cargo of elite spacetroopers, assault shuttles were very well shielded. Unlike most combat ships, which devoted 25% of their power to shields, the shields of a Gamma-class assault shuttle took up a full 62% of its power, with over half of that directed to the ship's front arc. This allowed assault shuttles to withstand heavy damage as they pulled up near hostile ships.

Notes ** The Havoc has a "Bomblet Generator" witch can drew from the Vehicles Primary Power Generator to Create Explosive energy spheres. The generator Requires Six Rounds to create a bomb and can never carry more then ten bombs at any given time. The Chute can release up to all ten Bombs simultaneously. History The Havoc was a unique, one-of-a-kind prototype constructed by the Nubian Design Collective. The Nubians hoped to sell an entire line of these formidable starfighters to the Naboo, but the pacifistic world rejected them as being too heavily armed.

The lead designer and engineer for the Havoc, a Bith named Jinkins, attempted fruitlessly to convince the Collective that the Scurrg H-6 model still had hope. After a few years of worthless lobbying, the Collective placed the bomber into indefinite storage.

A disillusioned Jinkins conspired with Nym to steal the bomber, and after their narrow escape, they set out to form the Lok Revenants. The intricate design on the Havoc's wings was the logo of the pirate band, which established a permanent base on the planet Lok.

The A-24 is a scout ship, capable of carrying only two persons: a single pilot and passenger; an astromech droid may serve as co-pilot. While older than more popular scout ships, the A-24 has excellent maneuverability and sublight speed for a vehicle of this class.

The vessel was more powerful than later vessels of the line and is said to have amassed a reputation similar to that of Executor. The first operational ships of this class began to appear in service several months after the Battle of Yavin. Many participated at the Battle of Hoth, in which at least one (Tyrant) was disabled by the Rebel's v-150 Planet Defender. During the final years of the Galactic Empire under Emperor Palpatine's rule, this starship was instrumental in the implementation of the Tarkin Doctrine. This class remained in service for a significant length of time, despite more advanced starship designs being available. These warships were considered advanced or simply extremely powerful even during the Yuuzhan Vong War, being used for both offensive and defensive roles in critical missions.

Notes none History Rebel Alliance pilots learned to exploit the major weaknesses of Star Destroyers, commonly called "Trench Run Disease", Imperial officers grew increasingly concerned over the growing relative effectiveness of these heavily-armed and shielded starfighters. After the first Death Star's destruction at the Battle of Yavin by a handful of Alliance starfighters, the need for greater starfighter defense was clear. Admiral Drez envisioned the Lancer-class ships and proposed using them to screen enemy starfighters to allow dominant Star Destroyers to pummel enemies in ship-to-ship combat. With approval from the Imperial Starfleet, Kuat Drive Yards designed and developed the ship. The final iteration ran a slim 250 meters with twenty quad laser cannon batteries designed specifically for starfighter hunting, but required a relatively large crew of 850. The Imperial Starfleet, however, found the Lancer-class too expensive for full fleet deployment. A few frigates made it into various fleets, but most admirals preferred to use, and subsequently lose, their TIE starfighters as anti-starfighter options. As a result, most Lancer-class frigates, like smaller ships before them, were assigned to planetary defense and rear guard operations. It was not until the emergence of Grand Admiral Thrawn in 9 ABY that Lancer-class frigates were put to good use. Thrawn used the frigates in raiding missions against key New Republic worlds, where they used their laser cannons to slice through the New Republic’s starfighter-based planetary defenses. As the remnants of the Empire collapsed and the New Republic defeated the remaining aggressive warlords, a number of Lancer-class frigates were captured by the New Republic Defense Fleet. While the Defense Fleet incorporated some into planetary defense fleets, most were decommissioned, although the design principles of the Lancer-class were revisited when the New Republic developed the Ranger-class gunship.

However, its large passenger and cargo compartment made it much larger than those later starfighter designs, stretching it out to a length of 24 meters. Also unlike those craft, the Lone Scout-A was made available to, and widely used by, the civilian market. A variant, the Lone Scout A-2, or LSA-2, was used by the Imperial Navy and the Imperial Scout Corps. It had an improved deep scan sensor array and a more capable backup hyperdrive (Class Twelve, instead of the Lone Scout-A's Class Fifteen backup drive), at the cost of 25 tons of cargo space. Lone Scout A-2s were sent to Dantooine from the Death Star to investigate claims that a Rebel base was located there.

Being a joint venture, the design reflected the artistic qualities of both races and were remarkably adaptable to different environments, which included atmospheric flight, space and underwater. The design came to fruition during the attempt to colonize the moon of Naboo. The basic frame was based on a Gungan cargo submersible and was enhanced by Naboo engineers to make it space worthy and included bubble shaped modular sections. This allowed a cargo capacity increase of 100 metric tons, or add 30 people or hold wildlife in the cargo bay. This allowed the Mantaris Medium Transport to carry four pods at a time. It could also carry ER-1 probe droids. The Mantaris Medium Transport was the Gungans' principle means of transport between worlds.

Notes * Apply a -20 penalty on attacks against targets smaller than Colossal[frigate] History The Marauder-class corvette was a 195-meter-long light capital ship introduced prior to the Clone Wars. Marauder-class corvettes were equipped with eight double turbolasers and three tractor beam projectors, and could optionally support four more turbolasers if a larger power generator was installed. They had space for 12 starfighters, and capacity for 80 troops for use in boarding actions or planetary landings. Their very accurate tractor beams allowed them to capture ships with little collateral damage, and they were sometimes paired with ships equipped with gravity well projectors for this purpose. Some Marauder-class ships were equipped with four concussion missile launchers in place of their heavy turbolasers. Sometimes called a "pocket cruiser," the Marauder's sublight speed was faster than a Victory I-class Star Destroyer. Although not powerful enough for engagements against warships such as those used by the Imperial Navy, they were excellent as patrol and interdiction vessels.

Notes *Apply a –20 penalty on attacks against targets smaller than Colossal size History The Viscount-class was envisioned as the New Republic equivalent of an Executor-class Star Dreadnought. As such, it measured almost twice as large as the Mediator-class battle cruiser, was equipped with over a thousand weapons systems, and could carry hundreds of starfighters as well as dozens of small support vessels. Although slightly shorter in length than the Executor-class, the superior construction skills of the Mon Calamari enabled the vessel to carry more starfighters, as well as having a substantially smaller crew. Its shape was also more compact than the Executor-class.

Notes The MC-18 is submersible (maximum depth 1,000 meters) and has a speed of 70 meters/round when underwater. When submerged, its shields must be reconfigured to handle the strong exterior pressure and this weakens the shields vs. other attacks (shield rating is reduced to 5). The shield rating returns to a maximum of 25 once above water. The MC18 measured 23.6 meters in length, and could transport up to five passengers and 50 metric tons of cargo. It has a landing claw, standard landing gear, and inflatable puncture-proof pontoons for water landings. History Like all Mon Calamari designs, the MC18 was custom-built, and no two ships were exactly the same. It also was equipped with a backup shield generator, as was standard Mon Calamari practice.

Notes * Apply a -20 penalty on attacks against targets smaller than Colossal size ** Backup shield generators allow a re-roll of any failed mechanics check used to restore shields. The second roll must be taken regardless. History Like most Mon Calamari designs, each vessel was individually unique, which caused headaches for Rebel technicians. As with other Calamari designs during the Galactic Civil War, all warships in this group were standardized as much as possible to aid non-Calamari crewmembers, something the artistic Mon Calamari accepted begrudgingly. The vessels were crewed by various species of Rebel personnel, though the command crew was exclusively Mon Calamari, due to the nature of the bridge display screens being designed for the Mon Calamari viewing spectrum. While their armaments, which varied from ship to ship, were less than those found on the Galactic Empire's mile-long Star Destroyers, their shielding capability was far more advanced. The multiple backup shields and multiple shield generators ensured that a Calamari cruiser could last in combat against more heavily armed opponents. Some MC80 cruisers had their wing-sections shortened and were equipped with an additional engine.

It was rumored that Kuat Drive Yards would sell the frigates to interested third parties through secret fronts so as not to upset the Imperial Starfleet. The sale price was 194,000,000 credits, cited as a twentieth the cost of an Imperial-class Star Destroyer. History The EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate was a 300-meter-long warship that was built by Kuat Drive Yards for use by the Imperial Navy, to protect convoys from Rebel starfighter actions. It was, however, used more famously by the Rebellion.

Notes *The fighter's tiny cockpit could only seat one short, stocky Utai, not the tall Pau'ans. Pilot may only be of Small size The P-38's superior sensor suite grants a +2 equipment bonus on all Computer Use checks made to operate the sensors. In addition, its jammer is specifically tuned to interfere with droid sensors, confusing their maneuvering heuristics and granting an additional +2 bonus on attacks against droid-piloted starships such as the Droid Starfighter or the Tri-fighter. History Built by Buuper Torsckil Abbey Devices (a manufacturer native to Utapau), the Porax-38 fighter has good sensor and jamming capabilities, robust shield generators, a limited hyperdrive allowing it to carry out raids against nearby systems, and twin laser cannons. Its cockpit is designed to hold the Utai natives (such as the varactyl wranglers seen in Revenge of the Sith) rather than the taller Pau'an who rule that planet. As such, Humans and other Medium-size characters would have to modify the ship to be able to use it, but Small characters (such as Ewoks or Jawas) find the fighter very comfortable. When the Separatists occupied Utapau during the Clone Wars, Port Administrator Tion Medon ordered the militia to hide its starfighter forces (including squadrons of P-38s) in the sinkholes and caves that dot the surface of the planet. After the arrival of General Kenobi, these starfighters were readied to aid the Republic in liberating the planet from Grievous and his droids. Still, the P-38 has one notable advantage against a particular type of opponent: If the enemy fleet makes use of droid fighters, the P-38 will chew through them fairly effectively. In this way, the starfighters can help to nullify the greatest asset of the Vulture Droids. Those ships might be Infinite, but the P-38 will keep them from staying on the board for long, forcing your opponent to spend a round re-launching his Vultures instead of maneuvering to engage your fighters or assault your capital ships.

Notes None History The A-24 was designed and released during the heyday of INCOM. The A-24 is a scout ship, capable of carrying only two persons: a single pilot and passenger; an astromech droid may serve as co-pilot. While older than more popular scout ships, the A-24 has excellent maneuverability and sublight speed for a vehicle of this class. Variants: The A-24E or Explorer option is for maximum range and best serves a deep space star charting role. The A-24P or Prospector option is a balance of range and cargo capacity, and is best suited for a planetary surface study role. The A-24 base model has a relatively short range for a scout and is best suited for a bounty hunting role.

Notes * -20 on attack rolls against any target Colossal size or smaller ** -40 on attack rolls against any target smaller than planetoid size History The Torpedo Sphere, a dedicated siege platform, is designed to accomplish one mission — to knockout a planet's shields. Planetary shields, whether full or partial, protect a world from orbital bombardment. It takes a lot of troops toassault a planet. It is easier and far less expensive to simply pound a planet into submission with the weapons of a Star Destroyer. But planetary shields prevent this. The Torpedo Sphere is a miniature Death Star, covered with thousands of dedicated energy receptors (DERs) designed to analyze shield emissions. Planetary shields are never uniformly even. They experience power anomalies and energy fluctuations just like other mechanical devices. The Torpedo Sphere parks in orbit around a planet and trains its DERs upon the world to search for weak points in the shielding. These weak points rarely exceed more than a 20 percent power drop, but this is enough for the Torpedo Sphere to bring down the shields. The Sphere contains 500 proton torpedo tubes arranged in an inverted conical formation. Surrounding these tubes are 10 heavy turbolaser batteries. The actual destruction of a planet's shields is simple. The Torpedo Sphere arrives and analyzes the shields. It finds both the weak points and the location of the planet-bound shield generators. The Sphere then fires a salvo of torpedoes that knock a hole in the shield (at a weak point), followed by blasts from the turbolasers to destroy the generators. Then the bombardment of the planet can begin. That is the quick version. In reality, it takes almost a hundred heavy weapons technicians to coordinate the tube launches. The target area rarely exceeds a six meter square. The hole this produces is actually a power surge that only lasts a few microseconds. If the turbolasers have not made their shots in this time, the process must start all over again. The most difficult part of the entire process is determining exactly where the shield generators lie. Sensors cannot penetrate full planetary shields, so the crew of the Sphere must study the power waves within the shield to determine where the initial power is coming from. There are only six Torpedo Spheres currentlyin service. They perform only one function, but it is an important one in these times of open rebellion.

History The VCX-350 light freighter was a 31-meter-long light freighter produced by Corellian Engineering Corporation, with an eye toward wealthier customers than those who typically bought the YT and YV series freighters. Like the rest of the VCX series, the VCX-350 was equipped as standard with near-military grade engines, shields, and weapons. While its armament consisted only of a dual laser cannon turret, the lasers were more powerful than would normally be found on unmodified civilian vessels. The VCX-350 had room for up to 250 metric tons of cargo, and also featured far more luxurious accommodations for its crew and passengers than could be found on most light freighters.

It was used by the Galactic Republic during the mid-Clone Wars and later by the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War. Following the start of the Clone Wars and the introduction of the Acclamator-class assault ship, the Arch-Provost of Rendili ordered industrial spies and ship-designers to come up with a way to curb Kuat's lead on new contracts with the Galactic Republic. As the war progressed, a design by Walex Blissex which was produced by Rendili StarDrive, became a direct challenge to Kuat Drive Yards' proposed Venator-class Star Destroyer. The design-project, called the "Victor Initiative Project", was a collaboration between the two rival shipbuilders, and resulted in the Victory-series. The design came about when the Galactic Republic's military saw a need for heavier starships, as fighting intensified towards the end of the Clone Wars. Victory I-class Star Destroyers were deployed to defend Sector 0 against the Techno Union's fleet of Bulwark-class Mark I battlecruisers, which had escaped the blockade of Foerost. This resulted in the deployment of the "Victory Fleet" six months ahead of schedule. Despite this, the majority of the initial commission group was not deployed until Palpatine had already dissolved the Galactic Republic and established his Imperial rule.

Notes Sensor Mask Causes ship to have a DC30 on sensor checks to locate it. History The Wild Karrde was a heavily modified Corellian Engineering Corporation Action VI Transport used by Talon Karrde for smuggling and as a mobile base of operations. Underneath the craft's dented and worn hull plates was concealed an incredible mobile base of operations for Karrde and his band of smugglers. Karrde had made many important modifications to his ship that allowed it to hold its own against the Imperial patrols that often came to check his stash. Three heavy retractable turbolasers were added, giving the ship a firepower that no pirate could ever expect. The entirety of the hull was doubly reinforced with giant durasteel plates that matched the color of the original, unmodified hull so as not to tip off pursuers. Deflector shields and a large power source were also secreted deep in the bowels of the ship. Talon Karrde had a hand in almost all galactic affairs, and thus had a far-flung web of spies and informants spread across hundreds of worlds. In order to keep tabs on them and process all the incoming data, Karrde converted most of the passenger and crew quarters on his vessel into a cavernous communications nexus. A monstrous hyperradio rectenna gave Karrde instantaneous links to his spies, while stolen HoloNet transceivers intercepted and cataloged many thousands of transmissions from across the galaxy. This sensor package incorporated a cloaking device that was powerful enough to conceal the Wild Karrde from passive scans. The machinery also transmitted false transponders to any ship inquiring about the nature of the cargo aboard the Wild Karrde. A section of the cargo hold was outfitted with a life support system that was frequently utilized to conceal smuggled living beings. In this block was also a kennel for Karrde's pet vornskrs. At least one small repulsorlift vehicle was kept in yet another section of the bay at all times. A dedicated medical bay could care for crew members or passengers who had been hurt. Another space stored Karrde's small fleet of droids, which ranged from astromechs to GNK power droids. Finally, a small force tube positioned in the aft could generate a small pathway of oxygen in otherwise airless deep space. This exotic device was meant to rescue pilots trapped in the void.

Notes *not available new as of Reb+ History The YG-4210 light freighter, built by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, was a very old ship model, predating the famous YT series by several decades. Designed specifically for space exploration rather than combat, the freighter was originally unarmed. But after centuries of serving, probably none of them match the original specifications. Weapons such as blasters, ion cannons and concussion missiles were common.

Notes

History This early model of transport from Corellian Engineering Corporation varies greatly in design from the general concept of the later ships in the YT series of transports. Slender and long, this ship looks like a loaf of bread sliced lengthwise along each side; essentially, a long, slender center section with two engine nacelles on either side providing thrust. The ship saw a good amount of use during the days of the Old Republic, as like most CEC designs it was easily modified. Almost nothing in the ship's design, save for a few core systems, was unalterable, and smugglers, pirates, merchants, and other spacefaring entrepreneurs took advantage of this and turned their ships into a personalized transport that suited their needs perfectly.

Notes None History Released around the time of the Battle of Naboo, the YT-1760 was part of the popular YT series, intended to correct some of the shortcomings of its predecessors. Though it succeeded in improving on the slower sublight and hyperdrive speeds of older models, it did so at the cost of cargo capacity and defense capability. The YT-1760 was released with no weapons and no combat shields, and its hull was less sturdy than many of its predecessors. The larger drive systems had already reduced the cargo capacity to a tenth of the YT-1300's, but most YT-1760 owners decided to trade a little of their remaining cargo room for commercial-grade shield generators. Fortunately, the YT-1760 shared the easy upgradeability of other YT series ships, and it was also common for owners to add a pair of quad laser cannons. Some YT-1760 captains chose to replace the spartan passenger accommodations with more comfortable staterooms, though this reduced the passenger capacity from eight beings to four. Although few large commercial concerns purchased YT-1760s, they were fairly popular with independent traders. Their high maintenance requirements caused most YT-1760s to be scrapped by the time of the Galactic Civil War, but some operators still preferred them to newer ships.

Notes The cockpit was situated in the center of the craft, unlike the YT-2000's predecessors. The cockpit also had a different set-up. Instead of having the pilot and co-pilot side by side, the pilot sat in front while the co-pilot was situated behind and raised above the pilot, with no room for any other people in the cockpit. Even with all of these changes, the YT-2000 still maintained the traditional YT series saucer design. With the cockpit pod in the center of the ship, docking and maneuvering was made easier as opposed to having to gauge distance to the far side of the ship. Additionally, the ship boasted a double laser turret as standard weaponry, due to the more dangerous times in which the ship was built. History Rumors abounded that the YT-2000 was originally intended to be the "next generation" model of transports for Corellian Engineering Corporation; however, industrial espionage forced them to release the ship before the design was finalized lest they were beaten to the punch by a competitor. It was also rumored that the engineers at CEC had trouble convincing the Imperial Regulatory Commission that the YT-2000 was a civilian ship, as the YT-2000 was heavily armed and armored and yet was amazingly agile for a craft of its size.

Notes This is the base model Z-95. There are countless variants. History Originally, the Z-95 was constructed by the Galactic Republic before the Clone Wars. The prototype for the Z-95 was Onyx Star, developed at the Bahalian Shipyards. After Subpro and Incom ended their partnership, Incom reportedly bought the intellectual property rights and proprietary systems of the Z-95. It was known to have participated in the Outer Rim Sieges against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. After the war, the Z-95 would fall into the hands of parties other than the newly-formed Galactic Empire, such as pirates and other underworld groups. Though outdated by the time of the Galactic Civil War, Z-95 Headhunters were well respected starfighters that were available to buy from various merchants, and were still in common use as late as the Yuuzhan Vong War.

The fighter used the frontal fuselage of the Headhunter, attached to the "eyeball" fuselage of the Interceptor, the engines of the Headhunter, and the lower radiator panels of the Interceptor. Weapon wise, the fighter had the two lasers from the TIE's wings, the Z-95's laser cannons were attached to either side of the the fuselage. The fighter also bore a twin barreled cannon, resembling a Y-wing's ion cannon turret, mounted on top of the "eyeball". Interestingly, a port for an astromech droid was situated at the nose of the fighter.
