• In May 2016, NS began the process of adding logic to the Aurora tie score in an effort to determine which ties will be replaced during the next tie cycle

• Factors used to determine a “weighted” tie change out score include:• Crossing approaches• Joint bar locations• Turnout approaches• Aurora x-ray score• Tonnage• Neighbor ties• High spikes• Curve rules• Plate cut
