Test Taker Instructions

VersantEnglish Speaking
• You’ve been registered by GlobalEnglish for GlobalEnglish Assessment: Versant - Speaking, an 18-minute test that assesses your speaking skills in English.
§ You’ll need a headset for the test. You must be in a quiet location where you will not be.
§ Your test must be taken in a single session. However, if you have technical problems that prevent you from finishing the test, you will be able to log in again and continue from where the test stopped.
§ When your test scores are available (typically within about 15 minutes), depending on the settings used by your company, you will either receive your results via email or from your Assessment Administrator.
§ Please make sure to complete the test within 30 days after registration.

You will receive a Welcome Email from GlobalEnglish ([email protected]) with your username, like the one below. Follow the Start Test link, check your profile information and set your password and then choose Confirm.

Accept the Service and Privacy policy with I Agree, then choose Start Test when you are ready to begin.

If your test does not open automatically, use Start.
Be prepared!

Please make sure you are in a quiet environment to perform the test. Also, close all other browser windows and programs that are not necessary to run the test. Then choose Next.
You will not be able to stop or pause the test once you have started, so please make sure you have about 20 minutes to complete it. If so, choose Yes I am ready and then Start. If not, please choose I’ll take this test later.
A pop-up window will appear asking you to use a headset for the test. Choose Next if you are ready to start. If you don’t have your headset, then choose I’ll take test later. Once you get your headset, come back into the test.

• Choose Allow on this page. à• Repeat the words “1,2,3,4” 3 times in a row and make sure the bars are moving in the green/yellow areas.

Please do not hesitate to use the troubleshoot button if you need help with your microphone or Flash set-up.

Part E: Story Retellings

Listen to a short story and, after you hear the beep, please retell the story in your own words. You will have 30 seconds to do so.

Part F: Open Questions

You will be asked 2 questions about family life or personal choices. Each question will be repeated twice. Then you will have 40 seconds to answer it.
End of Test
Optional questions: You may want to answer questions about yourself, such as your age and your native language. This will not affect your test results.

Test Completion: When you see the Test Complete confirmation message, you have finished the test.

After you complete the test, either you or your Assessment Administrator will receive your test results within about 15 minutes.
