About the EditorsFr Harry Bohan has been a priest in the diocese of Killaloe for over fifty years. A qualified sociologist, he is a pioneer in the areas of rural housing and community development. He established the Céifin Centre in 1998, a think tank for values-led change. One of Ireland’s leading social commentators, he has written substantially about Christianity, spirituality and economic development. A hurling enthusiast, he is also former manager of the Clare hurling team. Brian Callanan is a retired planning officer with Shannon Development. He undertook extensive planning exercises in the use of European structural funds in the Mid-West of Ireland in the 1980s and led Ireland’s first regional innovation strategy in the 1990s. He also gave expert support to development programmes in new EU member states in eastern Europe and was project manager of several European co-operation projects in regional development.

Grow in LoveElaine Mahon and Dan O’Connell

Grow in Love is the new Religious Education series for primary schools in Ireland. Introducing a new approved curriculum from the Irish Episcopal Conference, over the next four years it will replace the Alive-O series, which was first introduced to primary schools in 1996.

Each Grow in Love programme is divided into ten themes, which will allow teachers to take a thematic, cross-curricular approach to the teaching of Religious Education. Each theme is designed to last between two and four weeks. As well as the Teacher’s Notes and photocopiable worksheets featured in the Teacher’s Book, a comprehensive set of free online resources are available, including illustrations to accompany every story, video clips and weblinks for further study.

Each week, parents and families will be asked to help their children to do something related to the programme at home. For this reason, the Grow in Love Pupil’s Book will feature illustrations, stories, poems and activities for families to do together. Parents and children will also be invited to talk and pray about what is being learned in school.

Each Grow in Love Teacher’s Pack will also contain: ~ Poster Set: Designed to be placed in the classroom

prayer space, each poster will be a visual reminder of a key teaching in each theme;
