    What to do in a month? Well, to be honest, I have been quite busy. This month alone I have:

    Yeah its been a busy month. And Ive

    done all thiswithout leaving the comfort

    ofmyoffice/home.

    Actually, once I tore my face away from

    FaceBook, I entered the real world and

    hadthedistinctpleasureofactuallyseeing

    somethingreallyphenomenalindowntown

    Augusta. I saw Duff McKagan perform

    an acoustic set at Rock Bottom Music,

    a rare treat formusic fans,withhisband

    Loaded.They sang WildHorses by the

    Rolling Stones. Apparently the first time

    everinpublic.SearchYouTubeifyouwant

    toseeit.Butliveandinpersonwasreally

    cool. Even cooler was the band staying

    afterward for almost two hours signing

    autographs and chatting it up with fans.

    Thebandwassopleasedwiththeirvisitto

    thisdowntownstaplethat,laterthatnight,

    theypaidtributebyplayingariffortwoof

    RockBottomtoshowtheirappreciation.

    Nowhowcoolisthat?

    All this recent activity bringsmeback to

    our downtown community and what a

    really hip place it is.There are so many

    great opportunities and events for you to

    beapartof,itsastoundingtothinkofall

    ofthem.

    To truly experience our downtown area,

    youmustfirst start by looking.One look

    here in verge, look in other publications,

    goonline,joinafewgroupsandyouwill

    begintouncover thewidevarietyofstuff

    that happens here. Some major touring

    bandswith reallybignames in themusic

    industry have recently played in our

    downtown.Somelocalbandshavesigned

    to record labels. New businesses have

    opened their doors for you to check out.

    Grand openings took place. There were

    parties, art shows, theatrical productions,

    impromptu live concerts and festivals.

    Saturday Market kicked off. Larry Jon

    Wilson sold out a show andhundreds of

    peopleplayedthroughdowntown.

    Theseareonlyafewofthereallifeevents

    that took place in our epicenter over the

    lastthirtydays.Tosaythatourdowntown

    district is the heart of our cultural and

    economiccommunityisanunderstatement.

    Those of you who frequent downtown

    knowwhatIamtalkingabout.Sometimes

    youwishyoudidnthavetodecidewhich

    eventyouwantedtogotoorhavetochoose

    atwhichofthethirtyfiverestaurantstoeat

    lunchordinneratbecausetheyareallgreat

    intheirownway.AllofthisandIcanstill

    save the trees in thedesertwhileflinging

    a few shoes around at my drunk friends

    watching their favorite movie while they

    digintheirmakeupbagsfortheirflairor

    somethinglikethat.Mypoint.Dontletit

    slipbyyou.Get connected.Get involved.

    Becomeapartofyourcommunityandyou

    wontneedthevirtualun-realityoflife.You

    willhaveplentytodowiththelimitedtime

    weactuallydohave.

    Speaking of limited time, the recent

    announcements regarding the future

    growthofourdowntowndistrictandplans

    to provide even greater cultural, sporting

    andcommunityorientedeventsmademe

    wanttosendballoonstoallofmyfriendsor

    abuttonorashoeorsomething.Thefuture

    looks great for the downtown Augusta

    community.Who would be against that?

    Community and Growth. Economic

    security for the future of our town. Even

    moreeventsandareallytrippedouthigh

    tech facility to do it in. Lets dig! Your

    downtownisabouttopopthetopoffthe

    bottle.Dontyouwanttobeapartofthat?

    This is so exciting (Im thinking buttons,

    buttons,buttonsandmorebuttons).Ireally

    dohavetoagreewithsomegreatleadersof

    thiscommunitywhentheysayitsgreatto

    beinAugusta.

    What a great time to become a part of

    something very special in the history of

    Augusta.Ihavesaiditbeforeandwillnow

    say it again and again:Koinania,Doulos,

    Non sibi sed aliis Not for ourselves, but

    forothers.
