PR001/21 6 January 2021 Venturing into New Art Forms with 3D Pens Drawing on paper may be easy but creating three-dimensional (3D) art pieces is a new creative challenge. An interesting exhibition of 3D pen artwork made by local primary and secondary students is now on display in Sheung Wan and Sai Wan Ho stations from now till 6 April 2021, showcasing their combined talents in drawing and model-making through the use of 3D pen drawing tools. The exhibition features artworks from students at Islamic Dharwood Pau Memorial Primary School, Ju Ching Chu Secondary School (Yuen Long), Lok Sin Tong Leung Wong Wai Fong Memorial School, Lung Kong World Federation School Limited Wong Yiu Nam Primary School, Sharon Lutheran School, The Salvation Army Ann Wyllie Memorial School and Yuen Long Government Primary School. The students showcase their creative ideas in their artworks with inspiration coming from their school life, an imaginary monsters land and even well-known artist Vincent van Gogh. “Creating 3D pen artwork requires good hand and brain coordination. I admire the students’ creativity as reflected in the dynamic and fascinating artworks. The pandemic also posed a challenge over school closure, hence limiting the hours of production. In appreciating the artworks, let us also recognise the resilience of the students in tackling challenges that came their way,” said Ms Linda Choy, Corporate Affairs Director of MTR Corporation. MTR Corporation has worked with local and international artists to integrate art into stations by offering space at different MTR stations for art exhibitions under the “Art in MTR” programme to promote artistic talent and the public’s art appreciation. Interested artists and organisations may call the MTR Hotline at 2881 8888 for enquiry or submit their proposals to the Corporation. About “Community Connect”

“Community Connect” is the Corporation’s platform for initiatives that aims to support everyone from the young to the old while enhancing

the liveability of our city. What all the programmes have in common is that they’ve been carefully developed to nurture the communities we

serve, so that together we can grow and thrive in a sustainable Hong Kong. Specifically,

• We invest in young people as they are our customers, future leaders, innovators, and game changers – supporting their development is

an investment in our communities’ futures.

• We contribute to making cities more connected and vibrant through staff volunteering, and collaborating with NGOs and social

enterprises to address evolving community needs.

• We enhance the travelling experience through integrating art into our station architecture and facilitating artists to stage their art-related

activities or displays in our stations and malls.
