8.30 am Train departure from Venice Santa Lucia.

9.30 am Arrival in Vicenza. Vicenza – the city of Palladio UNESCO World Cultural Heritage property. Andrea Palladio (1508 – 1580) was a renowned architect and one of the Veneto’s foremost figures of the 16th cen-tury. His publication on architecture, L’Antichità di Roma was the result of his many travels and became one of the major guides to Rome that remained popular throughout the centuries that followed. The prestigious villas he designed for wealthy Vicenzians, but also for Venetian aristocrats, shaped the Veneto’s architectural style for generations. An undisputed Palladio masterpiece is the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, constructed in 1580. The theater has remained perfectly intact, just as it was over 420 years ago. On our tour of the city, we will see one of the Palladian villas as well as the Teatro Olimpico.

4.30 pm Arrival in Malles, change to our private Swiss PostBus coach.

4.45 pm Journey continues on the Swiss PostBus coach via Müstair, the Fuorn (Ofen) Pass and the National Park directly to your hotel in St. Moritz.

Today you will visit Engadin holiday residences around St. Moritz – that are not normally accessible to the public – to view works of the following artists: John Chamberlain, Picasso, Miquel Barcelo, Wols, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cy Twombly, Jannis Kounellis, Willem de Kooning, Louise Bourgeois, Alberto Giacom-etti, Diego Giacometti, Augusto Giacometti, Giovanni Giacometti, Lucio Fontana, James Turrell, Martin Kip-penberger.

Lunch at the Hotel Castell**** in Zuoz.

Contemporary art is at the core of this hotel’s inimitable ambience. Its collection of art is unique among Switzerland’s hotels. Art is omnipresent, with pictures and installations by promising rising talents as well as famous contemporary artists such as Roman Signer, Peter Fischli / David Weiss and Carsten Höller. The Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata designed the rock bath and sun terrace, Pipilotti Rist and Gabrielle Hächler created the sensual “Red Bar”.

6 pm Reception at the Segantini Museum in St. Moritz. The Museum was designed by Nikolaus Hartmann to reflect the Pavilion rotunda that Segantini had conceived to accom-modate his alpine triptych, “Life – Nature – Death” at the Paris World Fair of 1900. The Museum, which was renovated and expanded by Hans-Jörg Ruch in 1998 – 1999, is consid-ered to be the most beautiful in the Engadin.

Monday, June 8, 2009 UNESCO World Cultural Heritage property: Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes.8.30 am Departure of our special private train, the “Glacier

Pullman Express”, leading from St. Moritz to Chur along the Albula route (UNESCO-listed property). The train is composed of four restored Pullman cars of the Cie. Internationale des Wagons-Lits et Grands Express Européens dating from 1931. The interior design of the cars bears the signature of René Prou.

10.30 am Arrival at the new railway station in Chur. Cocktail reception at Chur’s Museum of Art.

Noon Departure from Chur in our deluxe private dining cars. Once more, the kitchen and service team will treat us to a delicious, freshly prepared lunch aboard the train.

2.30 pm Arrival at Basel SBB.

End of your journey from the Venice Biennale to Art Basel via St. Moritz.

09.30 Ankunft in Vicenza. Vicenza – die Stadt Palladios, UNESCO Weltkulturerbe.Andrea Palladio (1508 – 1580) war ein hochangesehener Architekt, eine der wichtigsten Persönlichkeiten des Veneto im 16. Jh. Seine Schrift zur Architektur, L’Antichità di Roma war das Ergebnis seiner Reisen und wurde einer der wichtigsten Romführer, der noch Jahrhunderte später beliebt war. Seine Gestaltung repräsentativer Villen für reiche Vicentiner, aber auch für die venezianische Aristo-kratie, prägten die gesamte Villenarchitektur des Veneto für Generationen. Ein absolutes Meisterwerk ist das 1580 erbaute Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. Das Teatro ist noch vollständig im Original erhalten, wie vor über 420 Jahren. Auf einem Stadtrundgang besichtigen wir eine Villa und das Teatro Olimpico von Palladio.

Mittagessen im Hotel Castell**** in Zuoz.

Das unverwechselbare Ambiente dieses Hotels ist von zeitgenössischer Kunst geprägt. Diese Kunstsammlung ist einzigartig in der Schweizer Hotellerie. Überall trifft der Gast auf Bilder und Installationen von vielversprechenden Talen-ten, sowie von berühmten zeitgenössischen Künstlern wie Roman Signer, Peter Fischli / David Weiss und Carsten Höller. Das Felsenbad und die Sonnenterrasse sind ein Entwurf des japanisches Künstlers Tadashi Kawamata, die sinnliche «rote Bar» wurde von Pipilotti Rist und Gabrielle Hächler gestaltet.

18.00 Empfang im Segantini Museum in St. Moritz. Das von Nikolaus Hartmann erbaute Museum orientiert

sich als Rotunde an jenem Pavillon, den Segantini für sein berühmtes Alpentriptychon «Das Leben – Die Natur – Der Tod» an der Pariser Weltaustellung 1900 geplant hatte. Das Museum, 1998 – 1999 von Hans-Jörg Ruch restauriert und erweitert, gilt als das schönste des Engadins.

20.00 Gala-Dinner.

Montag, 8. Juni 2009 UNESCO-Welterbe: Rhätische Bahn in der Landschaft Albula/Bernina.

08.30 Abfahrt mit unserem privaten Sonderzug «Glacier Pullman Express» auf der Albula Strecke (UNESCO-Welterbe) von St. Moritz nach Chur. Der Zug besteht aus vier sehr schön restaurierten Pullmanwagen der Cie. Int. des Wagons-Lits et Grands-Express Européens aus dem Jahre 1931. Die Wagen wurden von René Prou gestaltet und eingerichtet.

10.30 Ankunft im neuen Bahnhof von Chur. Cocktail und Empfang im Kunstmuseum Chur.

12.00 Abfahrt von Chur mit den uns schon bekannten Luxus-Speisewagen. Wiederum werden uns die Köche und die Service Brigade mit einem feinen, frisch zubereiteten Mittagessen verwöhnen.

14.30 Ankunft in Basel SBB.

Ende der Reise von der Biennale Venedig über St. Moritz zur Art Basel.
