The other beauties each received a bracele t , the gift of Cartiers . While within the big tent the audi- ence applauded gowns and girls . out- Bide In the midway a surging horde bought books, tobacco, baskets , glass- ware , dolls, spun for tune wheels and •hot at clay birds . Confection and hot do g booths were swamped , and ihe fortune tellers ' tents held long queues ot impatient persons , anxious to learn what fu ture days hold for them. One of the major a ttractions was a Wright whirlwind motor , the motor of which carried Col . Charles A. Lind. bergh and Clarence C'hamberiin across the miles that stretch between Xew Tork , Paris and Berlin. Mr . Charles Lanier Lawrence, of East Islip. L. I., the inventor , was present, and at- tracted quite as much attention as did his motor . Parents , disposed to play every device and visi ting every booth but yet concerned for their children , aban- doned that concern when they strolled down the midway , for a playground was established where the children might be checked. There children did not want for amusement. They coast- ed down slides, whirled on rides , rode the merr y-go-round and dug in the ¦and for hidden treasures while the fathers and mother s traipsed around the ten-acre plot. Today "t he greatest show or. eartg fc * a circus of wonders and congress ot enrloaa , will be presented twice , while a Falrch ild airplane hums overhead droppin g numbered tickets. The judges in this difficult under-taking were Schuyler L. Parsons.Charles Hanson Towne. the editor ofHarper 's Bazaar . Charles Chaplin.Charles LeMaire. Jules Glaeuzer . andMiss Gertrude Lawrence. The girlswore beautiful Spanish shawls , whichhave been on display in a New YorkShop window tor some weeks andhave at tracted much attention.

"Miss South Shore " was presentedwith a green lizard skin bag withfittings of gree n jade and gold. It wasgiven by Mr. Parsons . The otherbeauties each received a bracele t , thegift of Cartiers .

While within the big tent the audi-ence applauded gowns and girls . out-Bide In the midway a surging hordebought books, tobacco, baskets , glass-ware , dolls, spun for tune wheels and•hot at clay birds . Confection andhot dog booths were swamped , and ihefortune tellers ' tents held long queuesot impatient persons , anxious to learnwhat fu ture days hold for them.

One of the major a ttractions was aWright whirlwind motor , the motorof which carried Col . Charles A. Lind.bergh and Clarence C'hamberiin acrossthe miles that stretch between XewTork , Paris and Berlin. Mr . CharlesLanier Lawrence, of East Islip. L. I.,the inventor , was present, and at-tracted quite as much attention as didhis motor .

Parents , disposed to play everydevice and visitin g every booth butyet concerned for their children , aban-doned that concern when they strolleddown the midway , for a playgroundwas established where the childrenmight be checked. There children didnot want for amusement. They coast-ed down slides, whirled on rides , rodethe merr y-go-round and dug in the¦and for hidden treasures while thefathers and mother s traipsed aroundthe ten-acre plot.
