INTRODUCTION Velum ® Prime is Bayer’s newest nematicide for cucurbit growers to apply early in the growing season via drip chemigation to help provide higher yields through suppression of nematodes and disease. Velum Prime has been shown to be effective against a wide range of nematodes. Additionally, it will suppress the incidence and severity of Powdery mildew. Velum Prime is not intended as a replacement for fumigants, and it will be most effective when used as part of a complete nematode management program. This early-season suppression has been shown to protect root health and to help establish the crop. These benefits will provide growers with the confidence that they are helping obtain the best return on their investment and helping maximize yield with Velum Prime. INTRODUCTION

Velum® Prime is Bayer’s newest nematicide for cucurbit growers to apply early in the growing season via drip chemigation to help provide higher yields through suppression of nematodes and disease.

BENEFITS

• Increased yields

• Wide-spectrum nematicidal activity

• Suppression of a key disease, Powdery mildew

• Ease of application – drip chemigation

Chemigation Guidance

• Stages of chemigation: – Pre-wet – pre-wet the soil to provide a

wetting front during the first third of the cycle. As a chemigation-applied product, Velum® Prime follows the irrigation wetting front; therefore, thorough wetting of the root zone is critical to attain best performance

– Injection – inject Velum Prime during the second third of the cycle.

– Flush – completely flush the irrigation lines during the final third of the cycle

• Longer irrigation sets can improve the distribution of the product. Because Velum Prime stays in the root zone where it is needed, you can resume normal irrigation practices at any time following an application
