Elinor Marie Otto began building airplanes during World War II when she was 22, and continued working as a riveter until she was 95! A Lifetime Honorary Girl Scout, Elinor helped persuade the United States Congress to unanimously vote to designate March 21 st as National Rosie the Riveter Day to help ensure that the legacy of the women who worked on the Home Front during WWII continues to inspire future generations of young women. Today, at age 100, Elinor is working with Girl Scouts and others who are planting Rosie the Riveter Memorial Rose Gardens in their communities. Nearly 300 Gardens have been planted thus far.
