Happy Fall Everyone, like I talked about last month it is time to elect next year’s slate of officers. The October meeting will be the first round of nominations. So, if you have been ever thought about getting more involved now is your chance. I can attest to how rewarding it can be. The other topic I would like to talk about is membership. Last year your Chapter Officers decided that we should change to having all member- ships renew in December so everyone starts off each new year with their membership current. Having everyone’s membership forms signed and on file at the beginning of the year means that the required waiver forms for members’ participation in group rides and activities are in place – no need to hassle with that while we’re getting ready to ride! The annual membership fee is still only $20 so the actual cost is ~$1.67 per month. What does this mean if you purchased your motorcycle/became a Chapter mem- ber in 2017? if you bought a motorcycle from Wilkins HD between the months of January and August 2017 then you get a membership to our Chapter until the end of 2017. If you buy a bike in the months of Oct, Nov, or Dec 2017, then you get those three months and all of the following year 2018 covered by Wilkins. Then you just need sign a new form and pay $20 in December of 2017 for 2018 should you wish to continue your membership with the Central Vermont Harley Owners Group SADDLE UP!! The September 12th Monthly Social featured ice cream and all the fixin’s HOG Chapter Director Brion Muzzy started the meeting portion of the September Social with a moment of silence for the people affected by hurricane Harvey followed by the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

Dealership Report: Wilkins plans a September Bike Night at Sunset Grill in Stowe; an Open House at Wil-kins will be September 21-23 with Demo rides and the opportunity to sign up to win a 2017 Street Bob; Fall Riding Challenge for Sept 15-Oct. 14 with five destina-tions (Challenge Cards available at Wilkins) - complete all 5 rides (get your card stamped at the destination eat-eries) and be entered in the drawing for a 2017 Street Bob.

Executive Road Captain, Justen Elliott, reported on the remaining rides for the season. A Poker Run is sched-uled for September 24th with lunch planned to be at Riley’s Fish Shack, with 4 road captains. Ben Drury has a ride planned for September 30th on Tracy Rd in New York—leaving from Wilkins at 9:30 a.m. Dennis Aja will lead a ride to Mt Equinox on Octo- ber 1st. A co-ride with Champlain Valley Chap- ter is scheduled for October 8th.

Brion asked if anyone is interested in having a Chapter flag for their motorcycle. The flags must be ordered in a set of a dozen. Several people expressed interest in getting one.

We heard from some of the people who rode out to Alaska this summer...and wished Myron Degenhardt (who has ridden to Alaska 4 times!) a happy 94th birthday.

Our next social will be on October 10th—featuring an Apple Pie Contest —

at Wilkins beginning at 6:30 p.m.

1977—Introduction of the FXEF Fat Bob, "Fat" because of the dual gas tanks, "Bob" for the bobbed fenders.

1994—Harley-Davidson enters Superbike racing with the introduction of the VR1000, a dual overhead cam, liquid-cooled motor-cycle.

1971—In response to the customizing craze, Harley-Davidson introduces the FX 1200 Super Glide®, which combined a sporty front end (similar to that of the XL series) with the frame and powertrain of the FL series. A new class of motorcycle, the cruiser, is born.

JENNIFER SNYDER JOINS HARLEY DIRT TRACK TEAM By Brent Avis Dec. 05, 2000

Jennifer Snyder of Grand Saline, Texas, will join Rich King as the newest member of the Harley-Davidson factory dirt track team. Snyder recently agreed to terms to ride factory-prepped dirt trackers for the 2001 AMA and Formula USA dirt track racing season. Snyder, 17, finished sixth in the final point standings of the Formula USA Pro Singles Series. Although she competed in only seven of the races on the 2000 schedule, Snyder displayed her potential with a 4th place finish at Texas Motor Speedway and a 7th place finish at Manzanita Speedway. She also came from the back of the pack to finish 7th at the series finale in Del Mar… Snyder began her racing career at age 11. Her father, Joe Snyder, created a track on their property so she could train and race. The Pro Singles series is where she will spend most of her time in 2001 but she will also have oppor-tunities aboard the Harley-Davidson XR 750, in the AMA series, as she be-comes more familiar with the equipment. "This is a dream-come-true for me," said Snyder. "I grew up watching Scott Parker race and I followed his career closely. We both started racing at elev-en and he's been a huge influence on me as far as my racing career is con-cerned. I'm really excited to be a part of the factory team and race with Rich King as my teammate. Lots of people tell me I'm pretty good for a girl. Hopefully after next season they'll drop the girl part and recognize me for my racing ability, period!" In addition to her racing career, Snyder will be finishing her high school studies this year and plans to go on to college.
