Students study:

• the key global actors and their aims, roles and power

• concepts of national interest and power

• the way in which one Asia-Pacific state uses power within the region to achieve its objectives

In this study, the term ‘non-state actors’ covers a broad range: non-government organisations (NGOs) organised religions and terrorist movements.

Students study:

• key global challenges facing the international community in the twenty-first century • the debates surrounding two ethical issues and the contested notion of global citizenship. • the effectiveness of responses to these issues • the context and causes of global crises • the varying effectiveness of responses and challenges to solving them.
