Reports say the 27-storey house on Altamount Road is a Vastu disaster, which has been preventing Ambani from making the Rs 4,000 crore building his home.

It is believed that Mukesh's wife Nita Ambani had the house designed on the lines of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York.

“From the outside what I see is that the eastern side is blocked while the western side is more open. When the energy enters in your house from East, it gets stored in the SW & West for the stability of the master of the house. Here since the West is more open, the energy leaks and always leads to misunderstanding or may create fallouts/ issues. This also indicates more hard work to achieve moderate success. There is more negative energy coming from the western side.

This has been designed by the architectural firm Perkins & Will and the interior design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates, both American. Officials from the firms declined to comment, citing confidentiality agreements.

Even before it was built, Antilia was clouded by controversy. Mr. Ambani acquired the plot where the tower sits, on Altamount Road, in 2002. He bought it for 215 million rupees ($4.4 million) from a Muslim charitable trust that elsewhere operated an orphanage.

As soon as the building started there were issues within the family.
