  • WHICH HOUSE WILL WIN THE 30TH TRACK AND FIELD MEET, 2020?

Recently gone through a makeover, she’s quite the charming and generous girl, always willing to lend a helping hand. She’s sweet and bubbly but a little over-enthusiastic about pretty much everything. Shes extremely talented and is always laughing. From studies to parties- she manages it all. Off late, her road map seems to be directed towards physical excellence too.

WHICH HOUSE DOES SHE BELONG TO?

The passionate one with immense house spirit, he is indeed a winner of hearts. He can be seen studying with a book during nashta breaks, but his sporty side comes out on the field. Always bringing his A-game, you know you can count on him no matter what. His patience and understanding leave us all in awe.He can often be seen hanging around Hawkers after school.

WHICH HOUSE DOES HE BELONG TO?

Our own self appointed police, if you see someone bossing around you know it’s him. He is always seen in the late line and loves passing around biscuits in class. Sports is his middle name, and he’s surely on the football team. He’s quite the competitive one, so don’t get on his wrong side. He’s also fiercely loyal, and will always have your back. Strong, loyal, competitive and passionate, he’s truly one of a kind.

WHICH HOUSE DOES HE BELONG TO?

Whether it’s Inter House Western Music or Indi-an Music, this nightingale leaves us quite amazed. She’s musically inclined and naturally has a way with words. She can be found sitting at the back of class, chatting with her friends. Whether it’s gossip or debate, she’s always going to be there. Quite the rebel, a tucked in salwar and folded socks accompany her everywhere. Often found bunking in sister’s, watch out for this clever one.

WHICH HOUSE DOES SHE BELONG TO?

TYPICAL HOUSE CHARACTERS It’s a known fact around school that every House has some stereotypes associated with it- whether it’s the “sporty kids” or the “studious ones”. Let’s see

if you can guess which house these characters belong to!

  • Meet Your Prefects...

I am really happy that I am selected as the Head of Physical Development. I am happy for the other prefects too. I was hoping to get a better prefect po-sition. I love my meetings with Ms. Datta. But I am very thankful to all the teachers who chose me as a prefect. Kartikey Gupta V - B

When I found out that I am the Head of Emo-tional Development, I was over the moon. But I was also a little ner-vous as I knew being a prefect was not going to be so easy. However, with the support of my friends and

my inspiring teachers I think I will be able to take on this responsibility. Nikita Ahlawat V - B

I am happy to be appointed as the Head of Social Development. I hope I set a good example for my juniors to build positive relationships with everyone.

    S Shiv Vir Singh V- B

When my name was called out as the Sports Cap-tain, I leaped with joy and dashed onto the stage. I was overjoyed and everyone congratulated me, it was a dream come true. I play a wide variety of games and enjoy sports thoroughly. I am really look-ing forward to giving this adventure my best shot. Maira Ghosh V - B

Becoming a Class Representative was a dream come true for me. I couldn’t believe my ears when

my name was called out in the alcove at lunch time. I was very excited and couldn’t wait to tell my parents. We were told that we would be eating lunch with Ms Datta and that made me a bit nervous but also proud . Imaan Bakshi V - B

When my name was announced as head boy, I was both surprised and happy. I was very nervous when I went up on stage. I have been given a big responsi-bility by my teachers and I am grateful for their trust. Samarth Meattle V - B

When I was called up on stage as “SPORTS VICE CAPTAIN”, I could not believe my ears! All my hard work focus and concentra-tion on sports finally paid off. I hope to be a good role model for my juniors. I cannot wait for Track and Field Meet as

I will get to represent the junior school athletes. Darsh Prasad V- C

I was overwhelmed with joy when my name was an-nounced as the Blue House Captain. The entire day was filled with excitement and I also got to know my duties as a Captain. Also being a Captain means that I will have to be a role model. It also means that I have to be confident and make the right choices for my house. Aisha Goyal V - A

While sitting in the joint assembly, deep down I really hoped to become a prefect. Ms. Krishnan started announc-ing the names of all the prefects and my name wasn’t called out. “Oh no!”, I thought I’ve missed the boat. But

suddenly my name was called out as the Head Girl. I couldn’t believe my ears and I sprinted up to the stage feeling over the moon! Avanti Chopra V - C

On the day we were called for the joint assembly, I was having a number of thoughts. Will I be a prefect or maybe not. As my friends kept walking to the stage I was very nervous. And then, when my name was called on stage I was shocked! I was the ‘Green House Captain’.

    V Veda Menon V - B

It was class five. There was much apprehension and excitement in the air, both at home and in school. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t feel butterflies in my stomach whenever I thought about it. The day fi-nally arrived, the announcements were being made. Suddenly I heard my name being called out. I was Red House Captain. My head felt light and my heart filled with joy. Anant Agarwal V - CWhen my name was announced as the Cerebral Head of Junior School I was surprised and elated. All I want-ed to do at that point of time was to call my mother and share the good news. In 5 minutes my wish came true. After my initial excitement settled down I start-ed thinking about how to make this year one of the best for everyone. Anahita Rene Ganeshan V - A

When I found out, that I am the Yellow House Pre-fect I was jumping with joy and was thrilled. I am proud to have this opportunity. As a prefect, I will try my best to help anyone with any problem. I will also have my fingers crossed to make Yellow House win a hattrick this year. Ishaan Narain Gupta V - A"The Head of the Cerebral Department is Anahita Rene Ganeshan!” I was a little disappointed as this was the only position I thought I could get. After eat-ing our breakfast, we voted for the two class repre-sentatives. The results were declared by Ms. Datta. “The two class representatives are. . .” the alcove qui-etened down “Imaan Bakshi and Anhad Kashyap!” I was very proud of myself at that moment. Anhad Kashyap V - C

It was the day of prefect announcement and I was ex-tremely nervous as I sat in the joint assem-bly listening to Ms. Krishnan announcing the names of the prefects. That’s when Ms. Krishnan said, Saanchi Bansal, Head of Spiritual Development. I couldn’t believe my ears. I was overjoyed and on cloud nine.

    MICROFICTION SPORTS EDITION

In a bout of unexpected news, the average normal human-body temperature has dropped down from 98.6 Fahrenheit to a mild 97.5. Body temperature is a raw proxy for metabolic rate, and if it has fallen, it could hint at other physiological changes that have occurred over time.ime. People are taller, healthier and now live longer, and we couldn’t attribute these changes to anything, but the change in our body temperature may finally provide an answer.

Nearly 150 years ago, a German physician Carl Reinhold August Wunderlich conducted a study and deemed that the normal human-body temperature is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. In a new study, researchers from Stanford University say that Wunderlich’s number was correct at the time but is no longer accurate because the human body has changed. In the process of altering our surroundings, we have also altered ourselves - especially in terms of our height and weight. Julian Parsonnet, a pivotal figure in the study, thinks it could be a combination of factors, including warmer clothing, indoor temperature controls, a more sedentary way of life, and most importantly - a decline in infectious diseases. Also, an environment of cli-mate-controlled temperatures makes it unnecessary to rev up the metabolic system to stay warm or to cool off. Hence with advancement, we now have lower metabo-lism and lower body temperature in general - this does however not mean that we get fever at a lower temperature - you can’t fool your parents that easily!

Little Women Little Women, directed by the reputed Greta Gerwig, is a beautiful coming of age movie that portrays the journey from childhood to womanhood of the four March sisters- Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. It perfectly intertwined the plot of the classic novel, and emphasised that family gives birth to happiness and creativity. The film is touching because it shows that besides love and marriage, women have dreams and talents, and how struggling to fulfil them made them ‘Little Women’

1917, directed by Sam Mendes, is a film that brings out pa-triotism and the power of friendship. It is based on the story of two young British soldiers who are given a huge task of saving an entire squadron. Although portrayed violently, it is imperative to show the grotesque nature of World War 1. It is a great watch. -Anivartin Daga, 9

    Jojo Rabbit

The movie Jojo Rabbit is a masterpiece by Taika Watiti. It blends comedy and drama perfectly to create a spectacular movie. It is set in Nazi Germany, and we follow the story of a young boy, Jojo, a Nazi fanatic, and his significantly anti-Nazi mother. His story follows a buildungsroman throughout which maturity and adulthood is forced upon him by the collapsing Nazi state. It is chilling yet entertain-ing at the same time. -Jehan Bhandal,10

Parasite Parasite, the first foreign language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, navigates through the theme of classism. Set in South Korea, the film draws a humorous, satirical comparison between the lives and aspirations of the wealthy and the poverty-stricken. This hard-hitting piece calls for introspection on how we treat certain sections of society as “parasites”. Mr.Trump may not agree, but I would say that this movie is a must watch.

The Great Coronavirus PlotImagine you are in control of a nation of over 1 billion people. You are ruling with force and censor everything. You take full control of a former British colony. People are angry. How can you suppress them without having another billion in protest? Lets see, if you create a hype about a virus spreading, you can easily get rid of these people without any issues or bad press. In fact, you can even take them into clinics to ‘treat’ them and help cure them of life forever with a vaccine delivered by a gun.

Why stop there? Time to expand operations to that outside of China to those who have ever or could ever show dissent to the government. So you put up a show of the virus spreading worldwide. Thus, you succeed in wiping out all opposition and at the end, you could come up with a cure and be hailed as sav-iors. Thus, achieve complete victory.

This is what I think is truly happening in China with the outbreak of the new coronavirus. Is it really so absurd to assume that the Chinese government is behind this? In a world of such cruelty and hate, is it wrong to assume the worst? -Jehan Bhandal, 10
