Ceramic Basins are made out of liquefied fireclay which is poured into a mould and allowed to set before being hand finished. A ground glass glaze would typically be sprayed over the basin before the final firing.

This long-lasting and durable material suits a simple and minimalistic bathroom suite as well as a traditional Victorian look. Stains are easily removed and ceramic is generally easy to clean to maintain a shiny appearance. The slight ripples occasionally seen along its surface are often mistaken for flaws although they are actually part of the ceramic basins characteristics.

The core ingredient of our Cast Marble basins is Dolomite Marble which is formed through volcanic action. The rock is milled and purified before being mixed with polymer resin formed into the required shape before finally coated with a resin and quartz mixed gel coat to save its pigment and smooth finish.

The result is an extremely durable and easy to maintain product coupled with the benefit of constant sizing and smooth finishing that cannot be matched by traditional ceramics. Scratches are also repairable making this a more forgiving option. Cast basins have a sharp, modern and structured appeal to them.

Basins with no tap hole (NTH) are to be used with wall mounted taps. Basins with a single tap hole (1TH) would be used with a standard monobloc type basin mixer. Both models can also be drilled with standard woodworking hole cutters to accommodate 2 or 3 Hole tap designs.

CALYPSTONE DEEP WORKTOPS

Calypstone is an acrylic based product with all the practicalities of a hard wood, meaning it can be cut using common woodworking tools. A jigsaw with a good quality blade is ideal for initial cuts and should always be approached from the front profile of the worktop, ensure any off cuts are well supported.

If the cut is to be a show end, glance the cut with a sharp bladed router. Then sand a 3mm top and bottom radius along the length of the show end. Finish with the gentle application of mildly abrasive rubbing compound and finally polish. All components required are available in the Calypstone Repair Kit (7470.04) below.

Silicone can be used to fix Calypstone to the base units. If wanting to join two pieces of Calypstone, run a bead of silicone along the joint edge of the first piece and push the second piece firmly up to the first piece to create the joint. You should aim to squeeze as much silicone out of the joint as possible, the more you do the less visible the final joint will be. Any excess silicone then needs to be removed.

WHAT IS A POSTFORMED WORKTOP?Our laminate worktops are constructed by wrapping a sheet of laminate over a composite fibreboard core that has been shaped with a smooth edge profile. As the laminate is added after the edge profile has been created, it is known as being ‘post-formed’.

Laminate worktops are created by machines that attach the laminate surface to the composite fibreboard core using high heat, pressure and an adhesive. All worktops in our range have a 4mm radius and have a single post-formed edge. The two shorter edges of the worktop have a colour matched laminate edging strip applied. The back edge is left unfinished.

It's a very simple concept - Traditional toilets distribute the flush-water through a series of holes around the underside of the rim of the pan. The 'Rimless' pan does away with this under-rim meaning the water can flow faster and without hindrance to create a more powerful flush.

The rimless toilet looks no different on the outside, however lift the seat to see a difference. With a totally smooth bowl with no areas for bacteria or lime-scale to build up and settle, the rimless pan makes for significantly easier cleaning and improved hygiene.

WHAT IS COMFORT HEIGHT?

The difference with a Comfort Height WC (also known as a Right Height WC), is the ceramic pan which varies around 430 to 480mm high compared to the 380 to 400mm height of a standard WC.

One reason being that humans are now on average around 110mm taller than they were when the flushing toilet was first introduced into Britain in the 1880's. As well as taller people, Comfort Height pans are suited to elderly persons who may have more restricted movement.

ZONE 0 Covers the areas inside the bath or shower tray. If you decide to illuminate this area the fittings must be low voltage and must have a minimum rating of IP67 making them immersion proof.

ZONE 1 Incorporates the area directly above the bath or shower tray to a height of 2.25m from the floor. A light with a minimum IP44 rating is required for this area. If the light uses a 240V supply, a 30ma RCD (residual current device) must be used to protect the circuit in this zone.

ZONE 2 Covers the area 0.6M outside the bath’s perimeter and to a height of 2.25M from the floor. As with Zone 1, a minimum IP44 rating is required for this area.

ZONE 3 Outside zones cover areas which fall outside of zones 0,1 and 2 and are well away from any contact with water. No IP ratings are required for light fittings in this area.

Installation must be made in accordance with the current IEE wiring regulations and relevant building regulations. Calypso recommends that all electrical bathroom products should only be fitted by a suitably qualified Part P registered electrician.

We take pride in what we do and we like our products to arrive with you in perfect condition. Unfortunately, accidents can happen though, so it is important when ordering and booking installations, that sufficient time is allowed between product delivery date and installation date, for the checking of goods and if required, the re-delivery of any rejected or damaged items.

All stocked products are dispatched within 72 hours of ordering.

All our vanity and modular units are delivered pre-assembled with the exception of the Modena, which have the carcasses supplied ready assembled, with door and fascia panels packed separately for fitting once carcasses are installed to help avoid damage. Door and drawer fronts are supplied undrilled for handles to give maximum flexibility and choice.

All our concealed WC cisterns are suitable for front access servicing. If other manufacturer’s concealed cisterns are used, service access may become a problem.Prices in this catalogue include VAT at 20%.

Cast Basins – All Calypso cast basins are made from a mineral powder/polyester resin. The surface is protected by gelcoat which is at least 0.5mm in thickness. Clean and care for your top with a normal liquid detergent (do not use detergents containing abrasives). Buff with a good quality polish to keep your cast top in tip-top condition.

Postformed Laminate Worktops – Laminated on a 28mm chipboard core, all worktops are supplied with a length of edging for re-sealing when cut. (Additional edging strips are available on request, priced per metre).

Any damaged or unwanted items must be reported within 7 days and made available for collection within 28 days. Any items ordered and delivered in good faith but no longer required will be subject to a 25% handling and re-stocking charge.

Non-required items can only be accepted for return if:

• They are returned in original packaging.• They have not been fitted in any way.• They are in re-saleable condition.

Picking or Delivery Errors & Manufacturing Defects must also be reported within 7 days and made available for collection within 28 days.

Credit will be given once the goods are received back, inspected and signed off.

Any good under this policy should be returned to the retailer that they were purchased from.

Credit Approval or Refusal:

Once returned goods are received and inspected as per terms above, credit will either be approved or refused. If refused, a credit refusal number is assigned and a written reason given and sent by fax or email. Goods will then be held for 7 days before disposal. Any query regarding the refusal must be logged during this 7 day period.

By following some simple care and cleaning guidelines, Calypso products can be expected to give many years of pleasurable, trouble-free service.

Calypso bathroom furniture is designed to be used within domestic environments. Adequate ventilation is key. As with all timber products, bathroom furniture will be adversely affected if subject to excessive moisture on the surface or in the atmosphere. It is strongly recommended that a suitable bathroom extractor fan is installed to prevent condensation building up and to prevent damage to the furniture.

Calypso timber based vanity & modular furniture must never be installed in a wetroom situation.

It is most important that any cut or exposed panel edges, and any floor or wall abutment with furniture or sanitaryware, must be sealed with a waterproof sealant such as silicone or similar to avoid the possibility of water ingress and damage.

All water spills and sprays must be wiped clean and mopped dry immediately to prevent water marks or other damage.

Never use chemical or abrasive cleaners, bleach or furniture polishes on any bathroom furniture as the finish can be affected. Clean only with a soft damp cloth and a mild soap solution as necessary.

Solid Oak is a very hard-wearing material and its looks are enhanced with wear over the years. Occasional application of a wax-based furniture polish should be all that is needed to maintain its finish. DO NOT USE household cleaners or abrasive powders on oak, and remove any spills or stains immediately with a soft damp cloth and mild detergent (washing-up liquid). Excessive moisture or water spills will darken the oak surface.

CERAMIC SANITARYWARE - Clean with a damp cloth and warm soapy water. Rinse with clean water and polish with a soft cloth. Avoid using cleaners that contain abrasive solvents, acid or ammonia.

BRASSWARE - Clean with a damp cloth, rinse clean and polish with a dry cloth. Avoid using cleaners that contain abrasive solvents, acid or ammonia.

DIMENSIONAL TOLERANCE - Due to the nature of materials and production processes dimensions may vary within a tolerance of ± 2mm on furniture, ± 3mm on cast basins and ± 5mm on ceramic.

COLOUR REPRODUCTION - Colour reproduction is as accurate as possible within the limitations of the printing process.
