VANDERBIJLPARK. - A local dealer lostalmost a millionrand after aclient purchasedtwo luxury vehi-cles with a frau-dulent identitydocument anddrivers license.The incidents

occurred on Ja-nuary 1 and June 30 last year at a localcar dealer in Vanderbijlpark.Vehicles purchased totalled R919 585.The suspect used a fraudulent identity

book on two occasions to obtain credit forbuying motor vehicles.The suspect was successful in those two

incidents.It is alleged that the suspect registered

wrong particulars and gave false addres-ses so he could buy the cars.He bought the cars at the same dealer

and still uses the same documents.The fraud was discovered by the bank

to which he applied for finance to buy thetwo cars - a BMW and a Jaquar.The suspect cannot be traced and is still

at large. The bank reported him to the Van-derbijlpark SAPS for further investigati-on. It is suspected that the suspect has usedthe wrong name and surname but the photoon the ID document and drivers licence is

his, as the dealer has identified him.He goes by the name Abbas Muham-

BOPHELONG. - ArcelorMittal recently upgraded, builta jungle gym and refurbished four classrooms to providea better learning environment to the pupils and educatorsat Seeiso Primary School.

The company, with the help of AMT, built a junglegym for Grade R and One pupils. The cutting of theribbon was conducted by Werner Venter, acting generalmanager ArcelorMittal Vanderbijlpark, and Raj Man-domparambil, ArcelorMittal Foundation and Communi-ty Investment manager, on March 25.

The project forms part of the ArcelorMittal Founda-tion global solidarity holiday programme with the work-ers volunteering.

In his key note address, Venter said the company isproud to contribute to the local community. About R400000 has been spent on refurbishing projects includingamenities to create a happy, conducive learning environ-ment and to hosting international visitors.

West District of Education, appreciates Mittal for touch-ing the hearts of pupils with this contribution. He saidboth Mittal and AMT are very important and close tothe heart of the Education Departmentl.

Ward Councillor Bafana Bikitsha appealed to thecompany to look further into other needy schools. Hesaid Seeiso pupils would boast to their friends outsideabout how well Mittal looked after their school.

Prudence Masike, specialist for Corporate Social Re-sponsibility: Mittal, said to improve the quality of educa-tion, the company worked closely with the Departmentof Education to identify needy schools.
