The Vancouver Sun Internship Program May – August 2008 The Vancouver Sun is calling for applications for its summer 2008 internship program. The program starts May 1 and offers four-month, fully paid reporting positions in the newsroom of one of Canada's largest- circulation dailies. Vancouver Sun interns work almost exclusively filing general assignment news on weekend, evening and deadline shifts. They routinely file to, and update, the website. Therefore, some knowledge of audio and video shooting and editing for the web is preferable. Interns are enterprising self-starters, capable of quickly and efficiently turning around news assignments and handling investigative and contextual stories. Local knowledge is essential. Some Punjabi, Cantonese or Mandarin language skills are assets, but not requirements. Candidates with proven news judgment, strong writing skills and an excellent attitude and work ethic are invited to apply. Please include the names and daytime contact information of references.
