Approved by Council on December 2, 2019, the CEEP identifies key actions to reduce energy use and greenhouse gases in the community. One of these recommended actions is to move up the Step Code ladder, as shown in the chart below, to help meet our energy and emissions reduction targets. The BC Energy Step Code is a provincial standard that provides an incremental approach to achieving more energy-efficient buildings. The District of North Vancouver has been implementing the Step Code since July 1, 2018. These changes are proposed to be made in 2020.

The District is also considering additional measures to encourage low carbon buildingsthrough the development and rezoning process.
