This brand-new technology produces a3-D image of the knee which allows for superior surgical accuracy and alignment. When compared to more traditional forms of navigation, theiBlock cutting guide provides a significant advantage not only for the surgeon, but for the patient as well.

When a joint is replaced, even a miniscule misalignment between theimplant and the bones can harm joint performance and longevity. This innovative technique allows for precisemeasurements made dynamically inreal time.

There are only five “iBlock” units in theUnited States, and this technology is available in Tulsa only with Dr. LaButti.

facility in town, and everythingwe sell is covered by one of thebest warranties in the business,”said Jeff. “And our products andservices are very competitivelypriced.”

As the Performance Centercontinues to grow and expand, they will be looking for additionaltalented, experienced employeesthat would like to grow withthem. “It’s another way theHurley family can give back tothe community,” says Jeff. “Theyenjoy providing great employment opportunities in theTulsa community.” Bob HurleyFord is family owned and operated.

Bob Hurley Ford has plans

Callie. The juried panel consisted

of local artists in the communitywho selected 100 talented artistsfor Art on Main. The mission ofthis signature art show is to create access to a broad array ofarts experiences, nurture thedevelopment and understandingof diverse art forms and cultures, and encourage the expandingdepth and breadth of cultural lifein Oklahoma.

A change to this year’s setupis that all artist booths will be

the past several years, and she isexcited to be helping organize theevent for the first time. Calliegrew up in Jenks and graduatedfrom Jenks High School. Shewill graduate from NortheasternState University next May with adegree in marketing and isthrilled to be serving her seniorinternship at her hometown’schamber. “Art on Main hasalways been one of my favoriteevents in Jenks, and I’m so happy to be able to be a part ofmaking it happen this year,” says

Educational and Spiritual Growth

Art on Main

“We specialize in accessoriesfor Ford and GMC products, butwe also accessorize other makesand models,” said Jeff. Althougha high percentage of the workthey do is on trucks, thePerformance Center has “head totoe” accessories for most vehicles. When you buy a new orused truck, the shop can add custom accessories to match yourtype of work or style. Some itemsthey install include DVDs,leather upgrades (cars andtrucks), auto start systems, window tinting, spray-in bed liners, Weather-Tech custommats, grill guards, brush guards, fender well splash guards, window shades, wheels, tires,

power tonneau covers, trailerhitches, goose neck hitches, andmuch, much more. Most accessories bolt on to your truck, are safe, and are covered by warranty.

What’s the first thing mostof us do when we buy a newtruck? We arrange for a spray-inbed liner, and we have the windows tinted. Jeff says BobHurley not only has the numberone spray-in bed liner in thestate, but is the only shop inTulsa applying the Vortex product. This system creates ahigh-impact, durable, and insulated surface to the bed ofany truck. The PerformanceCenter has a window tinting bay

centered down Main Street indowntown Jenks. “This will allowa more engaging experience, asfestival-goers will be able to alsovisit the many great antiquesstores and shops along MainStreet,” says Callie. Another newaddition is a section specificallyfor art students from OralRoberts University to displaytheir works.

Live entertainment and artdemonstrations, including potterydemonstrations, will be heldthroughout the day.

This year’s children’s sectionwill feature Bounce Pro inflatables, face painting, and lotsof arts and crafts. Organizationswith booths for kids include localchurches and the Jenks HighSchool Art Club.

This type of drawing together of people in the community earned Art on Mainthe 2009 OutstandingCommunity Initiative Award, presented by the OklahomaCommunity Institute. Sincethen, word has traveled throughout the state that Art onMain is a premier art and familyfestival. As many as 10,000 to12,000 people attend each year

from all across Oklahoma andsurrounding states.

The 2012 Art on Main presenting sponsors are PSO,Tulsa Winch, and Tulsa FederalCredit Union. Admission to theevent is free. For more informa-tion, search “Jenks’ Art on Main”on Facebook, or visitwww.jenkschamber.com/artonmain.

DDon’t Wait to Solve YourWeight Problem

By Sheryl Sowell

The Lap-Band® Center ofOklahoma uses the Lap-Band®

Adjustable Gastric BandingSystem by Allergan. Accordingto Dr. Ladd Atkins, “It is by farthe safest weight loss surgerydevice on the market today.”

Dr. Atkins explains that theLap-Band® System is much saferthan stomach stapling or gastricbypass surgery because there isno cutting or stapling involved. This process is the least invasiveway to use surgery to reduce theamount of food the stomach canhold. “It’s less invasive than gallbladder surgery,” Dr. Adkinsexplains.

The Lap-Band® AdjustableGastric Banding System restrictshow much the stomach can holdby placing an adjustable bandaround the upper part of thestomach. There is no cutting orstapling needed to divide theupper stomach pouch from thelower stomach. The result is thatpatients take in less food.

The ideal patient has a BMI(body mass index) of 30 or high-er with at least one comorbidity(secondary disorder or disease),which typically includes type 2diabetes, hypertension, sleep

metabolism was shot and weightloss was not going to happen forme.

When I met Dr. Atkins atthe Lap-Band® Center ofOklahoma, I was immediatelyimpressed with the positiveencouragement I received there.Dr. Atkins gave me the hopethat Lap-Band® surgery wouldwork for me, and it has!

Dr. Atkins and his staff areknowledgeable about the Lap-Band® Adjustable GastricBanding System. The care andcommitment they have shownduring my follow-up visits hasbeen tremendous. I look forwardto each office visit, not only tosee my weight loss progress, butalso to hear the words of encouragement from Dr. Atkins’s nurses, Euphamiaand Gay Lynn. They are myweight loss cheerleaders!

Roberta Wagle, bariatriccoordinator for the Lap-Band®

Center of Oklahoma, walked methrough the first steps beforeand after surgery, and she continues to be available toanswer any questions I have.

I am still on my weight lossjourney but I am so thrilled that

Lap-Band® patient SherrelJones shares her story:

“I am a weight loss work inprogress! I am finally having success, and I am headed towardmy weight loss goal thanks toLap-Band surgery.

I had my Lap-Band® sur-gery a little over a year ago, onApril 27, 2011 at the Lap-BandCenter of Oklahoma. I have lost81 pounds so far. My bariatric surgeon was Dr. Ladd Atkins. The decision to have the surgerywas one of the best decisions Ihave ever made. I had developedall kinds of health issues due tobeing overweight: type 2 dia-betes, high blood pressure andsleep issues. Within weeks of thesurgery, these issues began to disappear and I was able to stoptaking many of the prescriptionsI had taken for years.

Throughout my lifetime Ihad tried every diet plan andweight loss medication I couldget my hands on, hoping something would work! I hadfinally convinced myself that my

the 81 pounds that I have lost sofar are gone forever! Success is areality for me now. The Lap-Band® Adjustable GastricBand is a “tool” that I will usefor the rest of my life to help mecontinue to easily eat less and becompletely satisfied with smallermeal choices. For the first timein my life, I know that I will beable to reach my weight loss goaland even more exciting is that Iam confident that I will be ableto maintain my weight lossefforts.”

WWine, Eats & Easels

Artists displaytheir art for sale and stickaround to talk to patrons abouttheir work. “You’ll find something for everyone – paintings, sculptures, jewelry, pottery, photography and more,”says Kate.

The wine pull will returnthis year, with a new, eleganttwist. J. David Jewelry has donated 100 pearl necklaces togive to the first 100 people whopurchase a bottle from the winepull. Cost for the mystery wine is$25, and if you’re lucky, youcould pull a bottle worth $80 or more.

According to Kate, one ofthe most popular activities of theevening is the Buttsketch. “Thisdraws a portrait of your backside in a very attractive, tastefulway. People really love it, andusually frame their butt sketches.”

Special guests of the eventwill be some of the Thundercheerleaders and Rumble themascot, ready to meet and greetthe Oklahoma City Thunderfans in the crowd.

Tickets are $50 at the doorand $40 in advance.
