IntroductionThe Valtek® SurvivorTM control valve is a unique severeservice control valve specifically designed for use in theharshest erosion, corrosion and flashing applications.Survivor’s unique design allows a wide variety of mate-rials to meet virtually every need. For erosive applica-tions, such as abrasive slurry, the Survivor is availablewith ceramic trim for maximum life in services that wouldquickly erode any other material. For corrosive applica-tions, the Survivor offers a wide range of materialoptions from stainless steels to titanium.The sweep angle design allows the process fluid to flowcleanly, without sharp turns or stagnant points. Theunique design of the Survivor directs the energy of flash-ing process fluids away from critical equipment.Unlike competing erosive service valves, the Valtek Sur-vivor control valve offers a unique wiper ring design whichprovides longer packing life by cleaning the stem and

protecting the packing from the harmful effects of thefluid. The exceptionally deep packing box prevents thefluid from contacting the upper guide and provides anextensive variety of packing configurations. Increasedflow and superior erosion resistance are realized throughthe use of a clamped seat design. The clamped seateliminates both seat retainers and cage guiding.

The Valtek Survivor provides the same high perfor-mance, reliable service and simplified maintenance asthe Valtek Mark One control valve by incorporating manyof the time proven features of the Mark One. These fea-tures include such things as top entry for ease of main-tenance, heavy-duty double top stem guiding for reli-ability and high-thrust actuation for superior control.

The Valtek Survivor control valve has proven effectivein erosive slurry applications where competitor’s valveshave lasted only days.
