Lizzy Cepeda celebrated her fifteenth birthday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on June 29th, 2013. Reverend Jose Aaron Fosado Garcia officiated the mass. Lizzy was escorted by both of her parents Dr. Hugo Cepeda and Mrs. Sandra Cepeda both of Mcallen Texas. Her brother Hugo Alberto Cepeda Jr. was also present during the celebration. Lizzy is the granddaugh-ter of Mr. Romeo Cepeda, Mrs. Esperanza Lopez De Cepeda, Mr. Juan Lozano and Mrs. Esthela Lozano. Lizzy’s maids were Alejandra Alvarado, Gladys Sanchez, Odalis Salas, Alma Ni-eto, Joscelyne Vargas, Polet Narvaez, Hiromi Vonnacher, and Kassandra Sanchez. Her Brother Hugo Alberto Cepeda Jr. was her chamberlain of honour. The chamberlains for the evening were Gabriel Villela, Joseph De La Garza, Angel Melo, Jona-than Uc, Jerry Jimenez, Marcos Valdez, Adrian De La Garza, and Jesus Banda. Lizzy is a student at Idea Quest College Pre-paratory where she has earned the A and B honor roll. She also participates in the Girls Volleyball and Basketball Team as the manager. She is a member of the Varsity Softball team. Lizzy is also a member of the Spanish Honor Society and she is an avid piano player. When she graduates, Lizzy plans to attend Baylor University and pursue a medical degree.

Natalie was born on June 2, 1998 in McAllen Texas. She is the daugh-ter of Mr. Israel Pena and Mrs. Norma Cavazos. She has two broth-ers, Israel and Victor and two sisters Nallely and Vanessa. She is the grand daughter of Mr. Israel Peña, Mrs. Carolina Vargas de Peña, Mr. Americo Cavazos and Mrs. Bertha Cavazos. Natalie celebrated her fifteenth birthday with a mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hidalgo, Texas on June 16th, 2013 and the recep-

tion was held at George’s Dance Hall. Natalie is a student at Hidalgo Early College High School were she is a member of the Golden Daz-zlers Dance Team. Natalie loves to dance, ride the bicycle and go shopping. After she graduates from High School, Natalie would like to pursue a modeling career and a degree in the field of Ocupational Therapist.

Valerie Ramirez celebrated her fifteenth birthday on March 16, 2013 in Weslaco Texas. She is the daughter of Mr. Aurelio Ramirez and Mrs. Elizabeth Ramirez. She has two brothers, Ed-gar A. Ramirez and Alexis Ramirez. Vivian Ramirez is Valerie’s little sister. The party was also attended by her grandparents Mr. Jose Americo Garcia and Mrs. Concepcion Garcia together with Mr. Aurelio Ramirez and Mrs. Juana Ramirez. Valerie is a stu-dent at Weslaco High School, where she attends Advanced Place-ment courses. Valerie likes challenges and knows exactly how to accomplish her goals. During the summer she attends the UTPA summer program where she is learning more about the field of civil engineering. When she graduates from High School, Val-erie plans to pursue a petroleum engineering degree and hopes to attend the University of Texas in Austin. Valerie loves to shop, travel, dance and read.

Miss Texas U.S. International & Miss Texas American Beauty Pageant took place on April 21, 2013 where Collections Magazine was an official sponsor. 34 girls competed for the crown. Amanda Delgado Miss U.S. International from California was the mas-ter of ceremonies. Band Nitro also participated in the event by playing live music for the competition. Backstage Productions provided two amazing LED Screens for the evening. Miss U.S. International is the third largest pageant of the world. The winner of the pageant will have the opportunity to compete against the most beautiful girls in Florida and the final pageant will be held in Japan. Miss Texas U.S. International & Miss Texas American Beauty is under the direction of Vanessa Saenz Sarabia.

Haley Jo Milam- Miss South Texas Jr. Teen 2013 is the daughter of Brian and Jackie Milam. She is currently a Sophomore at Veterans Memorial High School in Mis-sion. She maintains a 3.5 GPA and she is currently treasurer for DECA and a mem-ber of the Varsity track team. Her future plans include studying Marine Biology.

Halle Marie Milam- Little Miss South Tex-as 2012 is the daughter of Brian and Jackie Milam. She is a 5th grader at Midkiff El-ementary in Mission. Halle loves spending time with her grandparents and playing with her twin cousins. Her future plans in-clude being Miss USA and running track at the University of Texas at Austin.

Ashley Harris is the daughter of Tony and Mary Harris. She will graduate with Distin-guished Achievement from Sharyland High School with the class of 2014 and plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall. She is currently Miss South Texas Teen and is preparing to compete in the 2014 Miss Texas Teen USA pageant in Houston.

Ylianna Guerra is a 20-year-old junior at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. She was Miss Rio Grande Valley USA 2011, and placed in the Top 15 at Miss Texas USA 2012. She is currently Miss South Texas USA and will compete for the title of Miss Texas USA 2014 this com-ing September.

Little Miss South Texas, Natalie Lizka, is a 9 year old, daughter of Cary Zayas and Eli Lizka from McAllen. She is looking forward to a career in modeling and acting. She is currently signed with Impact Artists Group and LA Models in Los Angeles. Previously she held the titles of Little Miss McAllen and Little Miss Rio Grand Valley. .

Miss South Texas Pre-Teen USA, Sutton Elaine Propst. Sutton is a 10 year old 5th grader at Gonzalez Elementary, in McAl-len. Sutton loves to model and has been with Debi Lou Modeling and Debi Lou Productions since 2011. After she gradu-ates from high school, Sutton plans on at-tending Texas A&M University and there she wants to study Paleontology.

Amber Joyce Ramirez is the current reign-ing Little Miss Mission. She is an 8 year old 2nd grader at IDEA academy in McAllen. She loves tumbling, modeling, and reading. When she grows up she hopes to become a Veterinarian. She enjoys being a roll model in her community and helping out when-ever possible.

Madison Kae Cano was born on April 9th 2007. Madison Cano has also captured the title of Miss South Texas princess. Madison also won a spot as Miss January for Debi Lou’s supermodel calendar. Madison en-joys helping people and she aspires to be a nurse someday as well as a professional cheerleader.

Kassandra Hayter currently reigns as Miss Mission teen 2013. She 16 years old and a senior at Sharyland high school. She enjoys participating in track, pageants and model-ing. Some of her hobbies include bike rid-ing, swimming, and running!

Katherine Morales, daughter of Nora and Ruben Morales, currently holds the Title of Miss McAllen 2013. Katherine enjoys pho-tography, dancing, acting, and modeling. She is a modeling instructor for the Debi Lou Modeling Academy. In the Fall, she will be attending Texas A&M University in College Station and will be majoring in Electrical Engineering.

Elise Smith is an 18 year old freshman at Texas A&M University College Station. She enjoys doing outdoor activities, volleyball, and painting in her spare time. One day she wants to be a sports broadcaster. She’s excit-ed to compete at the upcoming Miss Texas USA Pageant on Labor Day weekend and represent the Rio Grande Valley.

Little Miss McAllen 2013, Sarah Marie Mar-tinez, daughter of Federico and Esmeralda Martinez Jr. Sarah loves to Model, dance and read. When she grows up she would love to sing and/or act professionally. Sarah was also the former Miss Rio Grande Valley Hostess 2012 and will be competing for the crown of Little Miss South Texas.

Iyslah Flores is Little Miss Rio Grande Val-ley. She is the 7 year old daughter of Mark Flores and Ruby Saenz. She was crowned Princess Anna the 62nd for the Texas Cit-rus Fiesta in Mission, Texas. Her hobbies include cheering, tumbling, modeling, swimming and pageants. Iyslah’s life ambi-tion is to be a cheer or dance instructor.

Vanessa Garza, Miss Tropics of Texas Teen USA, is 17 years old and plans on attending Texas State University and plans to major in Industrial Engineering. In her spare time Vanessa enjoys exercising, painting, and modeling. She had the opportunity to com-pete at Miss Texas Teen USA this past year and placed top 15.

Ivanna Leal is a 6 yrs old student at Cas-taneda Elementary in McAllen. She is the daughter of Alan and Vanessa Leal. She en-joys downhill skiing, swimming, modeling, dancing and reading. When she grows up she would like to become a dentist. Ivanna feels honored to currently represent the valley as Miss. South Texas Princess.

Amanda Michele Garza, Miss Rio Grande Valley Teen 2013, is the daughter of Alison and Jim Garza. She is a 16 year old Sopho-more at McAllen Memorial High School. She also serves as Class Vice President and is a member of MACE. Amanda has volun-teered with Angels of Love, the Food Bank, and Relay For Life.

Kayla Cantu, 5 years old, is the daughter of Juan and Josie Cantu from Alamo, TX. Her hobbies are singing, dancing, working-out, and charity work. Kayla is a friendly, out-going little girl, she has a positive attitude, she loves to help others. She entered her first pageant in March 15,2013 and was got crowned Miss Rio Grand Valley Princess.

Maria Luisa resendiz graduated from the Community Health Worker Training and Certification Program sponsored by Texas A&M University.

The Promotor(a) or Community Health Worker Training and Certification Program provides leadership to enhance the development and implementation of statewide training and cer-tification standards and administrative rules for the Promotor(a) or Community Health Worker (CHW) Training and Certification Program.

A Health Promoter is a person who, with or with-out compensation is a liaison and provides cul-tural mediation between health care and social services, and the community. A promotor(a) or community health worker: is a trusted member, and has a close understanding of, the ethnicity, language, socio-economic status, and life experi-ences of the community served. A promotor(a) or community health worker assists people to gain access to needed services and builds individual, community, and system capacity by increasing health knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, patient navi-gation and follow-up, community health educa-tion and information, informal counseling, social support, advocacy, and participation in clinical research.
