Labor Day:How it Came About; What it Means
Labor Day, celebrated the first Monday inSeptember, is a creation of the labor movementand is dedicated to the social and economicachievements of American workers. It consti-tutes a yearly national tribute to the contribu-tions workers have made to the strength, pros-perity, and well-being of our country.
Founder of Labor DayMore than 100 years after the first Labor Day
observance, there is still some doubt as to whofirst proposed the holiday for workers.
Some records show that Peter J. McGuire, gen-eral secretary of the Brotherhood of Carpentersand Joiners and a cofounder of the AmericanFederation of Labor, was first in suggesting a dayto honor those "who from rude nature havedelved and carved all the grandeur we behold."
But Peter McGuire's place in Labor Day histo-ry has not gone unchallenged. Many believe thatMatthew Maguire, a machinist, not PeterMcGuire, later the secretary of Local 344 of theInternational Association of Machinists inPaterson, N.J., founded the holiday. Recentresearch seems to support the contention thatMatthew Maguire proposed the holiday in 1882while serving as secretary of the Central LaborUnion in New York. What is clear is that theCentral Labor Union adopted a Labor Day pro-posal and appointed a committee to plan ademonstration and picnic.
The First Labor DayThe first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on
Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1882, in New York City, inaccordance with the plans of the Central LaborUnion. The Central Labor Union held its secondLabor Day holiday just a year later, on Sept. 5,1883.
In 1884 the first Monday in September wasselected as the holiday, as originally proposed, and the Central Labor Union urged similarorganizations in other cities to follow the exam-ple of New York and celebrate a "workingmen'sholiday" on that date. The idea spread with thegrowth of labor organizations, and in 1885 LaborDay was celebrated in many industrial centers ofthe country.

Hello Again,
For those of you who have a senior memory, and recall some of the sayings of the highly loved,
celebrated humorist Will Rogers, what do you think he would say about his America today?
He did not say the following: “Our country is like a horse — full of power and beauty with a
sore foot which will not stand still long enough for the farrier (horse shoer) to fix it. To make
matters worse, the farrier, riding horseback, is galloping hither and yon all over the country
merely talking about the beautiful animal’s sore pleading foot saying, ‘Give me four more years
and I can fix that poor horse,’ with the horse growing more crippled every day.”
As I said, Will Rogers did not tell this horse story. However, I believe he would have had
something to say in agreement.
Today Will’s political wit would not be accepted by those who do not care about the present
condition and future standing of this country. His political puns would create more tears than
laughter. The truth often hurts.
In God’s word, the Holy Bible found in Ephesians Chapter 4 — God gave special gifts to
certain people — trusting them to lead or shepherd. In our constitution, with its by-laws based
on the teachings of the Holy Bible, certain men were to be given special rights to lead and
shepherd. Do you believe those biblical gifts were given so those men could turn the people away
from God’s teaching or that the constitution meant to allow leaders to change our government
away from every practice we believed in and have followed for over two hundred years?
It appears our number one farrier and his liberal opinion creators, those with the
untrustworthy daily newspapers, radio, and T.V. stations as their pulpits, are more interested in
tossing horse apples or road muffins.
Could they possibly believe if they surround themselves with a daily supply of horse apples,
tossing them far, wide and often, no one will know where the odor is coming from and they will
win by pointing their finger at the other guy — why not blame Bush? Can you hear it now?
How about this for a short sing-a-long?
“I do not have the time to tend to the sore foot NOW, can’t you see I’m very busy hopping all
over the country, speech-a-fying about the problems the poor horse’s sore foot is causing? Give
me four more years with a few thousand pages — prepared by I do not know who — and after
it becomes law we will figure out what it says. If the horse is not totally crippled or dead by then
we will borrow some more money from China which will surely fix it, we think.”
I can almost hear the liberal chant if they win for the next four years and
the economy heads further South, and it surely will.
“Where is Bush — we need Bush. It was all his fault the horse died. Bush-
Bush-Bush, give us Bush!”
Let’s face it, when something goes wrong and you can’t fix it—you have to
find someone to blame.

My wife is an excellent shopper, taking advantage of discounted prices — coupons, two for
ones, shelf specials, today onlys — you name it.
During her last trip to the grocery store she brought home what appeared to be an extra
large loaf of Italian bread. Certainly gave her the appearance of a giant buy. Not to hurt her
feelings — I won’t mention to her — what I’m going to share with you.
I’m a bologna (should be spelled baloney) sandwich man. Before sitting at the kitchen table
to write this part of Hello Again, I slipped a couple of slices out of the middle of the loaf of
Italian bread — the middle slices are larger. With my trusty bread and butter knife, poked it
deep into a jar of mayo and attempted to spread it on a slice of that extra large, gigantic loaf
of air holes, lovingly called Italian bread. It must take a genius baker to wrap so little baked flour
around all of those holes. Holes here — holes there — holes everywhere, including the big one
I mayonnaised my left hand with.
I learned the secret. Put the baloney on the bread and spread the mayo on the baloney. It
may have been a great diet sandwich. Two slices of thin cut baloney, a portion of Hellman’s in
between two layers of holes.
The bread came wrapped in a clear cellophane wrapper with no words, which makes sense. How
could they talk about nothing? Only a politician can do that. Oops, my wife read this chatter
about the bread and said it merely gave me a chance to blarney-a-fy. She said it is really great
as toast. Can you imagine, my wife likes toasted bread holes?
Try one — if you enjoy baloney and mayo — you will certainly like it. There is nothing else to
dislike.
I wonder if our Chinese friends have mastered the art of eating a dish of holes using
chopsticks.
With fall and then winter coming along, I wonder why men’s cold weather underwear is called
Long John’s and why summer wear is not called Short John’s. Maybe I should find something
more important to think about.
Wave when you see the red three-wheeler rumble by. Be extra careful and courteous when
passing a horse and buggy. Remember the horse is a horse and is without hydraulic brakes.
If God did not create mankind and the Earth, who or what did? Nothing does not create
something.
If Darwin thought his relatives hung by their tails from trees, it’s okay with me. He certainly
knew more about his family than I do.
Today is the youngest day of our lives. Take time to thank the good Lord. Say hi to your
neighbor. Sure hope to see you in church this Sunday.
Fred Lee and the Lee Family

August 29, 2012Speaker Silver’s
pick for the 111th —Mr. Santabarbara
Dear Editor:Two years ago, I
watched an interest-ing race shape up inthe 105th A.D.between Assembly-man George Amedoreand his Democraticchallenger AngeloSantabarbara. In thisrace, I couldn’t helpbut notice a connec-tion between Mr.Santabarbara andAssembly SpeakerSheldon Silver, apowerful and influen-tial New York CityDemocrat who con-trols much of NewYork state policy andholds the majority ofseats in theAssembly.
At that time I real-ized it would be ascary thought if we
had a representativewho was an ally of Mr.Silver and would votewith and support theSpeaker and his NewYork City policies 90to 99 percent of thetime, but who wouldalso accept support inthe form of campaigncontributions, from aperson who is anti-Upstate.
This is why I votedfor Mr. Amedore, theperson who wouldtruly representUpstate taxpayersand businesses.
Fast forward totoday — Mr. Amedorehas endorsedRepublican TomQuackenbush, a for-mer Assessor, Mayor, twice Chairman of theBoard of Supervisors, and a current TownSupervisor with over15 years of budgetand managerial expe-
rience. Mr.Quackenbush’s con-servative and busi-ness-friendly outlookhas dramaticallyimproved our Upstatecommunity.
Mr. Santabarbara isof the party that isanti-business andenjoys the tax-and-spend policies thatMr. Silver is all toofond of. As a majoritylegislator forSchenectady County,Santabarbara hasdone little to assistoverburdened taxpay-ers and businesses inthe district. Mr.Santabarbara wouldlove a chance to rep-resent and ally him-self with the man thathas been the posterchild for dysfunctionand corruption inAlbany, who is solelyinterested in main-taining power and
influence over policyin this state, and isdestined to onceagain give Mr.Santabarbara tens ofthousands of dollarsin campaign contri-butions from NewYork City — Mr.Silver.
A word to the wisethis November — votefor the candidatewho: wants to stopthe corruption andscandal; has a cam-paign truly for thepeople and by thepeople; is the true fis-cal conservative withthe experience andleadership necessaryto do the job; and isthe only voice forUpstate New York.Hire the best: TomQuackenbush forState Assembly.
Sincerely,Eric HessRotterdam, NY

FISHERS, NY —New York apple fansare being urged toshop early and enjoytheir favorite varietieswhile they last, asstate supplies will bedown this fall. Andaccording to a newly-released national cropforecast, New Yorkisn’t alone.
A U.S. Departmentof Agriculture cropforecast released Aug.10 places the NewYork state crop at 14.0million boxes, down54 percent comparedto the state’s five-yearaverage production of30.7 million boxes.Meanwhile, the U.S.crop forecast of 192.0million boxes is down15 percent from thefive-year nationalaverage production of224.5 million boxes.Spring frost or sum-mer hail — and some-times both — impact-ed nearly every U.S.growing region.
What does thatmean for New Yorkapple fans? There isplenty of good news, too. Harvest beganthree weeks earlierthan usual due to thisyear’s early spring, sonew-crop apples arehitting stores andmarkets now. FavoriteNew York varieties willbe available, and goodearly summer weatherworked in the crop’sfavor. New York grow-ers report good fruitsize, and applesshould be sweeterbecause of the sum-mer sun and dryweather.
“The 2012 appleseason is now official-ly underway, we areopen for business,”said NYAA President
Jim Allen. ”Supportyour New York applegrowers, and enjoyour apples while theylast.”
The federal forecastfor New York was com-parable to a forecastmade by New Yorkindustry leaders dur-ing a conference calllate last month.Because the nationalcrop is smaller, appleprices at retail areexpected to be higheracross the country.
“This year puts aspotlight on the kindsof pressures that ourgrowers have to dealwith with year in, yearout,” said Allen. “Theydeserve our respectand support, don’tyou think?”
2012 New York apple crop forecast reflects smaller U.S. crop

Some call them beaters orhand mixers. The acceptedprofessional term stores labelthem with is “whisk.” Thisversion, however, clearly pre-dates the metal mesh of wireswe know of today.
This wooden whisk is slight-ly different than the conven-ience of our modern metalversion, where one arm cra-dles the mixing bowl as thebaker beats her eggs or creamwith agile, one-handed speed. This ancestoral kitchen toolhad to be held straight, fittingthe handle between bothpalms and spinning back andforth in order to create theproper velocity. The position-ing of each peg works like thehoops on today’s whisks. Itallows air to circulate whenwhipping a meringue; it alsomakes it a preferred tool forbeating lumps out of gravy
and sauces. The whisk fell out of style
when mechanized egg beatersand mixers eased a house-wife’s tired arms. Thenfamous Chef Julia Child usedher television cooking show toconvince 1960s America thatusing big mixers for every lit-tle mixing need was unneces-sary. Child referred to whisks
as “whips” and she was onlypartly successful in bringingthem back in style.Convenience tends to drivetrends more than we like toadmit. Once people realizedthey could beat their eggswith a fork, the poor whiskwas relegated to the back ofthat pesky utensil drawer noone ever reaches into.

How to cut mort-gage interest pay-
mentsThe average inter-
est rate for homemortgages recentlyfell to a 30-yearrecord low. Accordingto Freddie Mac, therate for a 30-yearloan went to 3.66 per-cent from a previous3.71 percent.
Many potentialhomebuyers look atthat drop in the inter-est rate and considerit significant. Butlook at the figures: A$100,000 loan at3.71 percent will costyou $460.85 permonth in payments.A $100,000 loan at3.66 percent will costyou $458.02 permonth in payments.
That’s a savings ofonly $2 per month ...unless you calculatethe savings over thelife of the loan.
At 3.71 percent,that $100,000 loanwill cost you $65,905in interest alone,which means you’llpay $165,905 overthe 30-year course ofthe loan.
At 3.66 percent that$100,000 loan willcost you $64,888 ininterest alone, andyou’ll pay $164,888over the 30 years.
That’s a savings ofjust $1,017 spreadout over 30 years.
There’s a much bet-ter way to cut theamount the interestyou pay.
What if you sendthe mortgage compa-ny $25 extra permonth? Your interest,at the 3.71 rate, drops to $59,207 andyou cut a year and ahalf off your mort-gage.
Let’s increase thatto $100 extra permonth. Your interest,at the 3.71 rate, willdrop to $45,583 andyou’ll shave approxi-mately eight years offthe life of your 30-year note.
If the idea of payingoff your mortgageearly appeals to you, let’s increase thatextra amount permonth to $200 andlook at the figures. The interest over thelife of the loan dropsto $35,042, and youpay off the loan 12years early.
That, not in the tinydrops in interest rate,is where you’ll seeyour greatest savings.
If you’re ready tobuy, don’t quibbleabout small changesin the interest rate.Do your homework:Get your credit ingood shape, assembleyour documents(such as tax returnsand bank statements)and when it comes tobuying, spend lessthan you’ve beenapproved for. Sendthose extra dollars inwith your paymenteach month andwatch your balancedrop.

Good rides, good food.” She alsowent on to praise thefair’s famous clamchowder.
Members of the firedepartment madeappearances at the
event as fair volunteers, serving in many differ-ent aspects. One pres-ent member who washelping out was FireChief Tom Malley. When asked why peo-ple liked to come out tothis yearly event, hesaid, “It’s family orient-ed. No alcohol. No covercharge. We try to keepour food and games ata low price for families. There’s great food [fromthe fire department’sfood booth], and somepeople just come backfor that.”
According to ChiefMalley, the proceedsfrom the Fireman’sFair go to help withexpenses that the firedepartment has thatisn’t covered in the vil-lage budget. Thisincludes trainings, special tools, and allof the funds for thedive team.
The Fireman’s Fairhas been enjoyed bythe town of SaintJohnsville and otherneighboring villagesfor 69 plus years. It’san event that is solelyrun by the SaintJohnsville FireDepartment.

by Elizabeth A. TomlinIt was an excellent turnout
for the Stone ArabiaPreservation Society’s 19thannual Vehicle Show and CraftFair.
According to the Society’sPresident Carol Edwards, “Wedid very well! It was one of ourtop years!”
Edwards reported that over140 vehicles registered for theevent and even more showedup to be on display at theshow. There were also morevendors than last year- withmore variety.
The annual event took placeon Sunday, Aug. 27, at theStone Church in Stone Arabia,
where sunny skies and sum-mer breezes made the day per-fect for viewing the largeassortment of vehicles, somenew, but mostly older modelclassics.
The event has become verypopular with exhibitors whocome from all over upstate NewYork to participate in the showand enjoy the food, music, games and fellowship.
The show was originallyorganized in 1990 by localjudge and attorney, DorisCrangle. “She spark pluggedit,” remarked Society SecretaryJanet Ouderkirk. “It was forthe sole purpose of preservingand maintaining the beauty
and history of the church andparsonage.”
Tours of the historical 1788Stone Church and parsonagewere an additional treat forhistory buffs.
Local businesses had donat-ed many items and certificatesfor the raffles and ChineseAuction. “Our area businessesare very supportive of this,”recognized Ouderkirk.
Edwards said she is veryappreciative of all of the volun-teers, members of the societyand the car owners whoattended the 19th annualshow. “We wouldn’t have ashow without them!” sheacknowledged.
Members of Stone ArabiaPreservation Society numberabout 100.
“Some are out of state andhave ties to this area,”Edwards commented.
For info on the Society orStone Arabia Stone Churchcontact Carol Edwards at 518-993-4280 or Earl Fredericks,Sr. at 518-993-4105.
“Thank you to everyone whosupports the church, it is atreasure in this area!”observed Edwards.

40 Years ExperienceLICENSED MASTER PLUMBER
by Samantha MazzottaGet free HDTV with
outdoor antennaQ: I recently can-
celed my cable sub-scription in order tosave money. Whilewatching the newsstreamed on my com-puter is okay, I’d liketo pick up local sta-tions on my TV. Howcan I do that? —Chuck F., New Hamp-shire
A: Today’s over-the-air TV transmissionsare entirely digital, achange mandated bythe government a cou-ple of years back. Theold “analog” TV trans-missions wereswitched off in 2010,something that own-ers of old tube televi-sions who try to pickup signals with theirold antennae arepainfully aware of.
However, even withan older television, you can pick up line-of-sight transmissionsand receive local tele-vision stations. Con-verter boxes are avail-able at most largeretailers that sell elec-tronics and cost from$30 to $60. You canlearn more at http://dtv.gov/ consumer-corner_4.html.
If you have a newerHD television, youmight be able to pickup a few signals if theTV has a built-in digi-tal antenna. If not, there are several HDantennas on the mar-ket. If you live in anarea where TV signalsare traditionally faint, you’ll absolutely needone of these. Theystart at around $45and go up in price, butthe plus side is that
you won’t pay anymore money for TVsignals once theantenna is up. At leastone brand of HDantenna was designedto be set up insideyour home, but thereare other brandsspecifically made to beset up outside or onthe roof. Outdoorantennas can pick upsignals up to 50 milesaway in most cases,as long as there aren’ttoo many obstructionslike hills or otherbuildings betweenyour home and thetransmission source.
To set up an out-door HD antenna, fol-low the instructionsincluded with theproduct. Those madefor rooftops shouldinclude proper mount-ing bolts and, ideally, small sealing squares
(basically roof-patch-ing squares) that sitbetween the antennamount base and theroof. If those sealingsquares aren’t includ-ed, head to yourhome-improvementstore for roof patchesand cut them to fit.
You’ll also need tofeed the coaxial cableconnecting the anten-na back into thehouse to your televi-sion. If possible, tryusing the holesalready drilled by thecable company toinstall its coax, ratherthan punch moreholes in your home’senvelope.
A number of videoson the web can pro-vide more informationon antenna installa-tion.

Q: We have little debt, but we also have troubleputting money into savingson a regular basis. I feelpretty comfortable with ourfamily finances, but howcan I tell if we’re really do-ing okay?
A: Determining fiscal fit-ness isn’t always easy. Butyou don’t want to wait un-til you get hit with an un-
expected expense or sud-den loss of income to findout how fragile your fi-nances really are.
Recently, a study of2,100 adults by the Na-tional Bureau of EconomicResearch revealed thathalf of those surveyedwould likely not be able tocome up with $2,000 if anunexpected need arose in
the next month. Thatmeans they’d be stuck ifthey encountered a majormedical expense or car orhome repair. For thosewho make between$100,000 and $150,000 ayear, nearly one in foursaid they “certainly” or“probably” would not beable to come up with themoney.
Having an adequateemergency fund is not theonly measure of financialstability. America Saves, anational campaign to en-courage people to reducedebt and build savings, re-cently listed “Five SignsYou Are In Financial Trou-ble” (http://bit.ly/fi-nantrouble), asking:
• Do you use your creditcard for basic needs likerent, insurance and food?
• Can you only afford tomake minimum paymentson your credit cards?
• Do you worry aboutfinding the money to makemonthly car payments?
• Do you borrow moneyto pay off old debts?
• Have you used a homeequity loan to refinancecredit card debts, then runup new revolving balanceson your cards?
There are plenty of otherred flags that you may befinancially unstable. Bar-bara O’Neill, a certified fi-nancial planner and fami-ly finance specialist withRutgers Cooperative Ex-tension, lists 34 warningsigns in “Danger Signals ofExcessive Debt,” athttp://bit.ly/debtsignals.You could be in trouble ifyou see yourself in five ormore of the indicators, such as being chronicallylate on household bills, being dishonest with yourspouse or partner on useof credit cards, or beingunsure how much debtyou’ve accumulated (andafraid to add it up).
O’Neill and others atRutgers have also devel-oped an online FinancialFitness Quiz that you cantake to measure your cur-rent financial practices.
Just go tohttp://njaes.rutgers.edu/money/ffquiz/ and an-swer 20 questions aboutfinancial management, saving and investing, in-surance and estate plan-ning, use of credit, andshopping and spending. The survey, which is partof a research study, alsoasks for some basic demo-graphic information. When you’re done, you re-
ceive a financial fitnessscore and suggestions forimprovement based onyour responses.
For even more guidance, see the Personal Financepage under the “Family”menu atwww.extension.org. It of-fers a wealth of informa-tion from Extension ex-perts from land-grant uni-versities across the nation.

by David UffingtonLong, cold nights not short on fun
The days are getting shorter, and that means one thing: Cold weather is coming. Before winter sets in, plan what you and your family will do for entertainment whenthe nights are long and you're stuck indoors. The key is to not spend much money.
• Board games and cards: check charity shops for games in good condition. Open theboxes and count the pieces to be sure nothing is missing. Look for jigsaw puzzles thathave a note attached saying all the pieces are there. Avoid games that take batteries.Borrow a card-game book from the library, or see Pagat.com for international games.
• Take your children to the library after school one day a week to check out books.• Have an Art Night. Before all the school supplies are gone from stores, stock up
on crayons, paints and markers at low prices. Add stacks of construction paper and
glue for the younger ones. Check craft and fabric stores for modeling clay that canbe baked in the oven, and create holiday ornaments or pottery gifts. Make walletsfrom duct tape. Create holiday cards out of last year's cards and construction paper.
• Make one night a week Kids Cooking Night. Look online or at the library for easyrecipes. Have them plan in advance what they'll fix, and be sure the ingredients areon hand. Bake bread together and freeze the extra.
• Learn a new language: DVDs and tapes from the library (or found at a thrift store)can make learning fun if you all do it together for 15 minutes a night. Or check on-line at Live Mocha [livemocha.com] for free basic instruction in any of its 38 lan-guages.
• Start a post card, stamp or coin collection.• Have a camp-in on the living-room floor, complete with hot dogs, S'mores and
ghost stories by flashlight.• Make puppets from fabric you have on hand and give plays, learn to dance, do
magic tricks or fold origami. (All of these and more can be found on YouTube.comvideos.)
• Write poetry and short stories.• Set up a home photo studio, take pictures of the family and print out the best
ones for gifts. The idea is to stay busy — and not spend much money — when cold weather keeps
you indoors.(c) 2012 King Features Synd., Inc.

ORISKANY, NY — Frank Giotto, president of Fiber Instrument Sales, Inc., inOriskany, NY, has announced a distribution of $8.1 million to employees who’veparticipated in the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
According to Giotto, over the past 10 years some 167 current and past employ-ees have participated in the Employee Retirement Income Security Act-qualifiedplan that provided participants with the opportunity to receive shares of companystock, without making a personal contribution. FIS is now purchasing those sharesfrom the ESOP Trust, resulting in the direct distribution of the funds to either em-ployees’ individual qualified retirement plans or as a direct cash distribution, what-ever the participant chooses. Some 84 percent of the $8.1 million will be distrib-uted to current FIS employees, the remainder to past employees.
“The response from FIS employees is that this is a life-changing event,” said Giot-to. “While most of the participants are planning to roll over these funds, many havetalked about paying off large debts, investing in their homes, making large purchas-es they’ve put off for many years, or establishing a college fund for their children.
“I am pleased that the continued successes of FIS can be shared with our fami-ly of employees and I trust that many lives will be profoundly impacted by thismonumental event.”
Fiber Instrument Sales, Inc., with headquarters in the Research Park in Oriskany,NY, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of fiber optic cable, tools, test equip-ment and supplies, doing business in 110 countries and employing some 350 indi-viduals in the Mohawk Valley.

School is starting and itwill be time for the break-fast battles again. Did youknow 60 percent ofteenagers regularly skipbreakfast, which can affectlearning and food intakefor the rest of the day?
Researchers at the Uni-versity of Missouri stud-ied a group of breakfast-skipping teenagers forthree weeks. Some teenscontinued to skip break-fast while the other twogroups ate breakfastmeals containing 500calories. One group con-sumed a higher amountof protein than the other.
Making use of surveysand brain scans, the re-searchers studied howbreakfast helps manageappetite and food intake.
According to their re-sults, either of the pro-tein-containing breakfastmeals was effective in re-ducing hunger through-out the morning, but themeal with more protein(yogurt and waffles) leftthe students less hungrythroughout the day. Thebrain scans showed thatbreakfast intake led toactivation of the areas ofthe brain associated withappetite management.Other research from theUniversity of Florida Co-operative Extensionshows scholastic conse-quences for youth whoskip the most importantmeal of the day. Children
who did not eat breakfastmade more errors onmatching familiar figures.Reading and math skillsalso suffered in break-fast-skippers. On dayswithout breakfast, chil-dren have a decreasedability to solve continu-ous task problems.
All of this points to theimportance of eatingbreakfast.
Help your teens, andyounger age students, geta great start to their day.
Fuel your body andbrain with nourishingfood in the morning. Planahead so your family canhave some grab and gobreakfasts that will fueltheir day. Plan a time af-ter supper or before bedwhere family membersdecide on their chosenbreakfast option for thenext day.
Purchase non-fat yogurtand non-fat or low fat cot-tage cheese in large familysize quantities. Separateinto individual servingsfor ready to eat conven-ience. Prepare homemadewaffles or pancakes, freeze and then they can
be toasted for the morningrush. Have ample fruit inseason, or small contain-ers of fruit packed in itsown juice for healthy ad-ditions to your morningroutine. Keep wraps onhand for easy to rollbreakfast burritos madeby scrambling an egg inthe microwave. Add veg-gies as desired. Kids arebreakfast eaters? Any foodcan be breakfast food. Trymaking a quiche or otherbreakfast squares thenight before and have itready as a grab and gomeal. Don’t forget tortillasand melted cheese for aquick high protein break-fast on the run.
Does your child’sschool have a breakfastprogram? Consider sign-ing them up. It may helpease all kinds of stress inthe family’s morning.
