Valentine Salt Dough Plaques We had great fun making these salt dough plaques for "best friends" at school. You will need: One quantity salt dough Acrylic paints (which used pearlized colors) Beads, glitter etc to decorate if desired Instructions: Roll out the salt dough and cut out a variety of shapes using cookie cutters. We used rounds, hearts and stars. If you intend to hang the plaques, use a plastic drinking straw to cut out a small hole at the top of the shape. Place on a baking tray and bake on very low heat until dried through. Paint with acrylic paints, and decorate with glitter or beads as desired. Thread a colorful ribbon through the plaque to hang, or stack shapes on top of each other as we have done and glue carefully together. (If you would like the plaques to last a long time, it is a good idea to cover with 2 coats of acrylic varnish: you can choose matt, satin or gloss depending on the effect you want to achieve, and either paint or spray the varnish making sure that the room is well ventilated).
