Criteria Most people automatically assume that an international business has something to do with the movement of goods and services across borders. But what does this mean for Valdosta? We have established certain criteria for designated categories. !International business includes business activities that cross national boundaries. International transactions also involve discussions and negotiations which seal the business deal. With the use of the internet, one may not personally have to cross boundaries to complete an international business transaction. !One may not necessarily have to cross national boundaries to experience international culture, by sampling the arts and cuisine of a chosen country. !Each business must meet at least one of the listed criteria under its respective category: !Restaurant: • Serves international cuisine. • The food served is authentic to the source country. • Restaurant may also serve American food but a significant portion of the

dishes are international. • Restaurant may Americanize the foreign cuisine. Other qualities, such as

atmosphere, contribute to the flavor and experience of international dining. !Grocer: • Specializes in international products. • The majority of the grocer’s products must be imported from a foreign country. !Retailer: • Conducts international business transactions with international contacts. • Imports or exports a good or service to or from a foreign country. • Specializes in international merchandise. !Manufacturer: • Conducts international business transactions with another international
