save money and the environment
Today’s buildings are sophisticated systems with demanding comfort and control requirements. A typical offi ce building has a large number of pumps and fans for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Together, with high energy effi ciency and comfort demands, this leads to a need for advanced control features, but also for high reliability. Vacon AC drives combine these require-ments in an easy to use package.
Vacon offers a complete and well-recognized range of AC drives for building automation. Vacon drives can substantial-ly improve the quality and effi ciency of the building’s heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.
Saves The Environment
The protection of nature and environment has become an increasing global concern for our society. The pressureon the environment is increasing all the time and action is needed to redirect this otherwise adverse trend towards a more sustainable goal. The AC drive helps to increase the energy effi ciency of a building and thus uses the existing en-ergy resources more effi ciently.
Energy Saving Calculators
How much money and energy can be saved? Energy Saving Calculators are available on the Vacon web site: www.vacon.com. The payback time of an AC drive is usually around one year in HVAC systems.

The well packaged hardware combined with user friendly software makes Vacon NX the preferred solution for HVAC. The visually guided start-up function ensures that the Vacon AC drive will be fully operational after a few keypresses.
easy to set up
Start-up wizard –fastest and easiest setup with the keypad
Vacon NXL drives come with a special 4-step start-up wizard, which makes it possible to set up basic pump and fan applica-tions in only a few seconds. All instructions can be found in the Vacon NXL quick guide.
The Vacon NXS comprehensive wizard guides you through the setup so that all the necessary start-up parameters and set-tings are determined.

The mechanical design is extremely compact. The IP54 units in particular are among the smallest AC drives in the market. All units are suitable for both wall and enclosure mounting with all neces-sary components integrated: EMC fi lters, input chokes, cable protection, dust and water protec-tion. The effective super-cooling principle allows high ambient temperatures and high switching frequencies without derating.

Prohibit frequency ranges -no resonances
Any resonance in the system can be avoided by overriding the critical frequencies.
High switching frequency –low motor noise
Near sinusoidal motor current and extremely low noise is reached because of the advanced motor control and high pulse frequency.
Vacon Flying start –best in performance
Flying start allows the fan or pump to start smoothly if the shaft is already rotating when the drive is started. The Vacon NX syncronizes itself to the motor quickly and reliably, and ad-justs the speed to the reference value.
Triples operation –reliable system
Vacon NX AC drives are designed to achieve trip free operation even in abnormal situations.• Overtemperature ride through reduces the switching fre- quency, if the temperature of the drive rises too high.• Power loss ride through can adapt to sudden voltage drops in the supply voltage by automatically adjusting the output frequency.• The true output switching function ensures the automatic drive stops and starts when the motor disconnect switch is operated.• Auto-restart is used to automatically restart the AC drive in case of a trip.
offers the best control
Vacon AC drives are the best choice to ensure a trouble free HVAC system. Smooth starts without torque shocks minimize mechanical stress, thus the need for maintenance. The noise of the mo-tors and air-conditioning ducts is kept to a minimum and yet, maximum comfort is still attained. In addition to this, the drive includes advanced functions that increase reliability and performance of the system.
Extensive Protections -prevent failures
• Motor stall• Broken belt/Dry pump/Motor under underload • Earth fault• Over current• Over/Under voltage• Drive overtemperature• Auxiliary voltage supply

and all the possibilities
PID Controller - integrated functionality
• Delta P Regulation with two standard pressure transmitters. No special transmitters required.• Sleep Mode function will stop the pump when the demand is low to save energy and extend the lifetime of the pump.• Normal and Inverse Regulation of the PID controller for all control tasks.• PFC Cascade Controller with integrated auto change function for pressure booster sets and cooling compressor.• Fire Mode can be activated in case of fi re. If a fi re occurs, this function will enable the drive to maximize the time that the critical functions can operate.
Energy Saving Mode –highest effi ciency
Energy saving is one of the main reasons for choosing AC drives to be used in HVAC systems. The Energy Saving Mode (Automatic fl ux optimization) further improves the effi ciency of the motor by reducing the voltage when the full torque is not needed.

for all environments
The product family standard EN61800-3 sets limits for both emissions and immunity from radio frequency disturbances. The environment has been divided into the 1st and 2nd envi-ronment, which, in practice, means public and industrial net-works.
Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) fi lters are typically re-quired to meet the EN61800-3 standard. These fi lters are inte-grated in the Vacon NXL (IP21 and IP54 units) and Vacon NXS as standard.
Vacon NXL (IP21 and IP54 units) and Vacon NXS fulfi l all the requirements of the 1st and 2nd environment. No additional RFI fi lters or cabinets are required.
The extremely low emission solution (Vacon class C) is avail-able for sensitive locations such as hospitals and airports.
