A vaccine is a biologically prepared substance that produces immunity from diseases. They are administered through needle injection, by aerosol, or by mouth. A vaccination is “is the injection of a killed or weakened organism that produces immunity in the body against that organism”. Vaccines have been proven to not only be effective, but also essential to human beings as we come into contact with harmful diseases over the course of our lives. People of all ages should receive vaccinations in order to protect the health of our future generations.

Infants, children, and teens (ages 0- 18 years) are of the most important age groups to get vaccinated. People among this age group are at a much higher

risk of complications when diagnosed with certain diseases.

College students and young adults (ages 19 years to 24 years) are prone to certain diseases as well. College students living in dorms are extremely

susceptible to meningitis, HPV, and tetanus, and the seasonal flu.

Adults, ages 24 – 65 years, are most commonly suggested to get vaccines for Hepatitis A and B, influenza, and MPR. Even as adults, our bodies are not immune to many

diseases unless there is evidence of previous infection.

Seniors, ages 65 years and older, are at high risk for death when they are diagnosed with certain diseases. Shingles, influenza, and pneumonia are dangerous

and can be fatal to older adults if they have not been vaccinated.
