Descripcin de funciones:Bajo la supervisin general del Gerente del Programa de Innovacin parala Productividad y la Competitividad del IICA, el Especialista internacionalen gestin de la innovacin tecnolgica con sede en la Regin Caribe,

tendr entre otras las siguientes funciones:a) Promover el desarrollo de alianzas institucionales, programas

conjuntos y redes entre los actores claves de los sistemas deinnovacin tecnolgica en los pases de la regin, as como de redes yalianzas entre los Estados Miembros del IICA.

b) Fomentar y fortalecer alianzas y relaciones de la regin Caribe con elresto de las Amricas en los temas de innovacin, investigacin ytransferencia / extensin agropecuaria.

c) Actuar como especialista del IICA del Programa de Innovacin para laProductividad y la Competitividad, participando activamente en losproyectos de las lneas de accin del Programa.

d) Apoyar a las Oficinas del IICA de los pases de la Regin Caribe en laejecucin de aquellas acciones contempladas en las estrategias IICApas que tengan que ver con las Lneas de accin del Programa deInnovacin.

e) Apoyar y dar seguimiento al componente de innovacin de laEstrategia Regional del IICA en el Caribe.

f) Actuar como coordinador de interacciones y relacionamientos tcnicosentre IICA y CARDI en la Regin Caribe.

g) Apoyar la identificacin y desarrollo de proyectos para promover lainnovacin incluyendo la gestin de recursos financieros para suejecucin en la regin Caribe.

h) Participar activamente en la Red Temtica Institucional de InnovacinTecnolgica.

Description of duties:Under the supervision of the Manager of IICAs Innovation forProductivity and Competitiveness Program, the international specialistin technological innovation based in the Caribbean will have, among

others, the following duties:a) Promote the development of institutional partnerships, joint

programs, and networks among the key stakeholders in thenational technological innovation systems in the region as well asnetworks and alliances among IICA Member Countries.

b) Foster and strengthen relations and alliances with the rest of the Americas en the areas of innovation, research, and technologytransfer and extension.

c) To serve as IICA specialist under the IICA Innovation forProductivity and Competitiveness Program, participating activelyin the Programs projects and lines of action.

d) Support IICA offices in the Caribbean countries to carry out theactions included in the IICA country strategy that are related to

the Innovation Programs Lines of Action. e) Support and monitor the innovation component of the IICA

Caribbean Regional Strategy.

f) Act as Coordinator of the technical relationships and interactionsbetween IICA and CARDI in the Caribbean Region.

g) Support the identification and development of projects topromote innovation, including fund raising for theirimplementation in the Caribbean Region.

h) Participate actively in the institutional Thematic Network forTechnological Innovation.

Requisitos y Competencias:Educacin: El candidato deber poseer un ttulo universitariopreferiblemente con nivel de doctorado en ciencias agrcolas o afines. Sedar consideracin a candidatos que poseen un ttulo universitario a nivelde maestra de una universidad reconocida y que cuentan con una ampliaexperiencia internacional.

Qualifications and Competencies: Education: The candidate must hold a graduate degree, preferablyPhD, in agricultural science or related field. Candidates who hold aMasters Degree from a well known university and have broadinternational experience will be considered for the position.

Experiencia Laboral: Se espera que el candidato cuente con un mnimode10 aos de experiencia profesional nacional e internacional comprobadaen innovacin tecnolgica en regiones tropicales, preferiblemente en eltrpico americano, para asegurar un amplio conocimiento de la Regin ysu agricultura. Experiencia comprobada en facilitar redes tcnicas ygestin del conocimiento. Amplia experiencia en gestin de proyectos y/oprogramas de innovacin. Es preferible que el candidato cuente conexperiencia/familiaridad en identificacin y negociacin de alianzasestratgicas entre redes con instituciones de innovacin, investigacin y/oextensin. La experiencia en sistemas de agricultura protegida,agroecolgica y familiar ser reconocida.

Idiomas: Dominio completo del idioma ingls y del espaol esindispensable para el puesto. El conocimiento de francs y portugus servalorado.

Work experience: The candidate must have at least 10 years of proven national and international professional experience intechnological innovation in tropical regions, preferably in the Americantropics, to ensure thorough knowledge of the Region and itsagriculture. Proven experience in the creation, promotion andfacilitation of technical networks and knowledge management. Broadexperience in development and management of innovation projectsand/or programs. Preferably, the candidate should have experienceand/or be familiar with the identification and negotiation of strategicpartnerships between networks and innovation, research and/orextension institutions. Experience in protected, agroecological andfamily agriculture systems will be recognized.

Languages: Full proficiency in English and Spanish is an essentialrequisite for the position. Knowledge of French and Portuguese will bevalued.

Aptitudes: Comunicacin: Aptitudes fuertes para la comunicacin oral yescrita en ciencia y/o documentacin tcnica, que incluye la elaboracin depropuestas de proyectos cientficos y tcnicos. El candidato deber teneraptitudes fuertes interpersonales y contar con experiencia en laelaboracin de presentaciones formales.

Skills: Communication: Strong oral and written communication skillsin science and/or technical documentation, including the preparation of proposals for scientific and technical projects. The candidate musthave strong interpersonal skills and experience in preparing anddelivering formal presentations.

Relaciones con donantes: Historial de xito en desarrollar y obtenerfinanciamiento para proyectos y programas cientficos y tcnicos, yexperiencia con la comunidad de donantes.

Relationship with donors: Successful track record in thedevelopment of, and fund raising for, technical and scientific projectsand programs, and experience with the donor community.
